I've only been subscribed for a week. Sir I didn't know you had a channel I just knew you as the guy I was the most disappointed in not winning. Love your music. Don't walk away from me is my jam. Trying to watch every video now
I watch AI on Mondays because I don’t have cable but the thing I love most is then immediately watching your take on the show. I don’t always agree with you but I absolutely learn so much from your perspective.
Our family has finally found our 4th judge. Welcome to the family! So often we’re wondering what the judges are hearing or not hearing compared to what we’re hearing. So often someone way better is left without a ticket while a much lesser singer is gushed over. We can have a healthy family debate and your expertise would greatly contribute. We often joke (not really joking) that the show needs a majority of judges that are just fans with 10+ years under our belts. This is all to say that your breakdowns of each idol audition is enjoyed and appreciated by us. These are teachable moments.
I miss watching you react live to auditions, like 9:16. Now it seems more often than not it's a clip of the audition and then your reaction. Why did you make that shift?
If you haven’t learned by now, the judges think anyone who is hot is the best singer in the world. I’ve seen it year after year with this set of judges.
Why is Katy so obsessed with everyone singing louder? I typically just FF through the judges critiques these days. Saves time and don’t really get much from them. I do get more from you. So thanks!
I think this year country there are lot of county female singers and soft, light male singers. So if I could choose from the drum full of singers it would be definetly et least one of each type of singers.
100% agree with your thoughts on the “gimmick” contestants. I think another big reason they don’t work now is because a lot of what made their bits so funny in the early seasons was Simon utterly confused at what they were doing and why they were there. These judges are too nice to say anything like the Simon did. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, it’s just a different judging style now.
I hope this channel continues to grow! Lol I hate Talent Recap 😅 it feels like all just cheap fluff put out to make money off of content that other people put in the real work to produce. Your channel genuinely adds value to the content you share. Thanks for all the work you put in!
Clark, you mentioned how the Albanian song/the music touched you. Yes, there is a thread that originated in India, moved up into the middle east to europe and Spain. I recommend 2 documentaries: Latcho Drom ("safe journey") a 1993 film about the Romani people's journey from north-west India to Spain, consisting primarily of music and on location filming of the cultures. And this 2006 concert documentary en.wikipedia.org/wiki/When_the_Road_Bends…_Tales_of_a_Gypsy_Caravan
Yeah I wasn’t sure why the judges liked Matt from Black Mtn way more than his sister Laela? Her voice was more unique, imo. And yes, Black Mtn is gorgeous; my daughter lives in close by Asheville. Scarlett was giving me Nutsa vibes. Really liked Nick Connors.
I have to say I loved Scarlet, Will, Max, CJ, Aniston, Jennifer, and Laela. Kimi was really good too but Leah put the song to rest. They were all great. Kyra was good but she lacked confidence. She does have a great rasp and range though. Nick was good until Katy started coaching him where his voice was straining and lost control. Madai has an amazing voice, but she was singing all over the place, pitchy in parts, and lacked breath control. It felt like she was putting on an act of personality contest.
agree with most of your comments. however Scarlett did not do it for me. Just felt she was all over the map and trying too hard. Of course she is talented but I just felt she was over the top in this audition.
There were only 2 contestants that actually made the top 24 in this episode as opposed to 8 and 7 previously…it was a pretty lacklustre episode to say the least… Anyone want to guess which 2 from this episode actually made top 24???
@@linds4716there are spoilers everywhere…plus the top 24 went to Hawaii to perform the semi final round, so there are people out there that know who they are…
Dumbing down America. You say you teach at a Christian college but you don't teach Bach or Beethoven. A great many of their music compositions celebrated religious beliefs. Now I know the problem with what passes as modern or pop music. Don't make things easier for kids teaching "empty calories". Make them stretch. If you don't, the next generation is going to be even dumber.
Scarlett Lee??? Nope, I didn’t like her on X-Factor and like her even less now. For me……she is too over the top all the way around. Let me say I am no musician, I cannot sing, I cannot carry a tune in a bucket with two handles, BUT I know what I like and what I don’t. This girl over performs, over sings and her appearance-especially her makeup way over the top! She is just too much which takes away from any good that may be there. No thank you.
As much as I thought she was great with amazing talent, I'm not thrilled when people come on who have made it so far on other singing/talent shows. Somehow that just seems like they're cheating even though I guess they're not. I prefer the regular guy or girl just singing at home or maybe local bars or whatever but never had major exposure and this is their chance to be heard by the powers that be and get their break. I also agree that she is a little too over the top to me - with performance and her look, similar to the mortician girl, where all the razzle dazzle is razzle dazztracting lol! And I totally appreciate when people take pride in their appearance and try to look their best, I mean it is American Idol after all. Sometimes I look at them and as great as they sound, they are missing the "package" and don't seem to put any effort into their appearance which can be equally a turnoff in a way. Not to sound superficial, but just saying it because if they really want to make it big, that is unfortunately part of it.
Man 🤦 can't believe Final Cut did me like that. Here's the rest of the episode: th-cam.com/video/PXuqPsbdM5I/w-d-xo.htmlsi=I2IMNDXy5SpsZ40_

CJ was crazy unique. There were like 3-4 really good people this round. This year has a lot of talent.
I watch AI on Mondays because I don’t have cable but the thing I love most is then immediately watching your take on the show. I don’t always agree with you but I absolutely learn so much from your perspective.
Great job, Clark! You are excellent at this role! Thank you!
I enjoy your professional, experienced commentary.
Did that cut off early for anyone else?
Yes 🥲
Yes
Yep

Yes it did - not sure what happened.
Always love and look forward to your reviews. Purely honest and truthful.
Thanks for the recap!
Scarlett. Best audition yet this season.
Liked the songwriting for Hummingbird a lot!
I agree about Leila! Loved her right away.

Thanks Clark, love your reviews!
Enjoy your breakdowns so much. 🎼🎶🥰
❤ beautiful voices
LOVED CJ, and liked Nick, too.
Lotta talent this season...need a Rock n Roller
Ps been watching these videos since you started them and i love them!!! Please keep going!!
I love your content Clark. amazing!

Not true
Glad to be here with you.
Did the premiere randomly end for anyone else?? The part of the video I did see was great tho I always look forward to these!!
Why is Katy so obsessed with everyone singing louder? I typically just FF through the judges critiques these days. Saves time and don’t really get much from them. I do get more from you. So thanks!
Thank you…I wondered the same thing. Whatever happened to subtlety?
Aniston Pate was my favorite❤
Just followed yr idol breakdown on tic toc🥰
Following you on Tik Tok already! Really like your videos!
I look forward to your feedback. It's thoughtful and practical and will really help people who can apply it.
Nick reminds me of Trent Harmon…wicked voice

What happened to the video? Is there a part 2?
I really enjoyed Scarlet, Max, Laela, and CJ!
It's her (Leahla's) melodic phrasing.

I love these videos!!!
Scarlett Lee has some incredible performances from X Factor UK. If she can sing like she did on that show, she should be top 5 at a minimum.
Yeah I wasn’t sure why the judges liked Matt from Black Mtn way more than his sister Laela? Her voice was more unique, imo. And yes, Black Mtn is gorgeous; my daughter lives in close by Asheville.

Really liked Nick Connors.
I love you! ❤
I’m usually… like 9 out of 10 times… in agreement. I think Dawson was perfect. Genius song choice.
9:15 *aooaoooh*
Then we get a "gaa leigh" from Clark @9:33
❤🔥🙌

Enjoy your channel! You’re usually right 🤣😉
I’m commenting-great critique Clark!
Tea!!! You need a tea to be the most professor-ish professional dean of the world 😏
And elbow patches!
Pt 2 has no audio
I feel like the judges have been high on several that i thought wouldnt get a ticket.
Polarizing is the word
Jennifer Jeffries felt very Indigo Girls

Wouldn’t singing from the “front of the back” of your throat just be singing from the middle of your throat?
It's pretty sad this year that you don't seem to exited.
Part 2!:

Scarlet was great.
Deans wear elbow patches.
Wasn't in love with anyone this episode
big professor vibes, maybe a pipe next time? Great ep as usual, only teasing

Clark announced that he'd be late tonight because of a conflict.
The very sly William Hung reference about the gimmicky people.

I wouldn't want to know either

I liked Scarlett but the rest didn't impress me. Week one has the best talent so far besides abi carter the best were week one
let's comment all the videos!!!! love your content, subscribed to insta, tiktok and youtube!
Scarlett Lee was too snoozy, I did not like the arrangement but she can sing. I remember her from X factor UK.
KIMI was good.
Dumbing down America. You say you teach at a Christian college but you don't teach Bach or Beethoven. A great many of their music compositions celebrated religious beliefs. Lol are you a music teacher?
Jennifer sounded like every other woman singer from 1990 on. Too throaty
EVERYTHING is soooo contrived now. And im tired of all of the emotional porn.
Scarlett was too full on elaborate and tried too hard. I didn’t enjoy her audition, I was stressed because she was so over the top. 😊

This episode of American Idol was quite boring other than the gal from London England
