What I love about Godzilla and King Kong fighting together is how they’re pulling wrestling moves against Mechagodzilla. They didn’t attack him, they *jumped* him.

If Godzilla was full strength than this might have been a more even brawl between him and Mecha Godzilla, but the team up with Kong and Godzilla is probably my favorite duo team up "to defeat the bad guys". Glad they gave Kong a win in the end, he needed it and the Kong fans needed it as well. What an awesome movie man!

@@bossturner9540 Adam wingard confirmed in the toho kingdom interview he was tired after going 3 rounds with kong (not including drilling into the hollow earth) but he also said he wasn't sure who would of won if both godzilla and mechagodzilla fought at full power so the fight is essentially 50/50 or 60/50 if godzilla was fully fresh

In the heisei era mechagodzilla 2 was weaker only in a physical sense since he can't fight physically like godzilla can. In their first confrontation mechagodzilla had godzilla laying on the ground electrocuting him and had him foaming at the mouth. Mechagodzilla only shut down because godzilla sent a electrical current right back to mechagodzilla causing mechagodzilla go overheat and shut down. In their second encounter mechagodzilla became super mechagodzilla and paralyzed godzilla by destroying his 2nd brain. That was the closest mechagodzilla ever came to killing godzilla besides monsterverse mechagodzilla. Godzilla only got lucky because rodan happened to be flying by and died on top of godzilla healing him and giving him the red spiral ray. In the kiryu saga godzilla was more durable and stronger in a power sense than kiryu meanwhile kiryu was faster physically stronger and smarter due to him being controlled by humans and having a consciousness of his own. Kiryu won the first movie forcing godzilla to leave and godzilla lost again in Tokyo sos this time to kiryu and mothra's twin larva. Even in the anime trilogy godzilla earth was lured into a trap and nearly died and would of died if haruo made a different choice all together. Godzilla only survived because haruo didn't suicide bomb into godzilla which gave godzilla enough time to enter his scarlet state and destroy mechagodzilla city. So in each era mechagodzilla WAS ALWAYS superior and godzilla nearly died because he was naturally outmatched and only won due to plot armor and plot conveniences. Godzilla is powerful but don't be a fanboy over it. Godzilla is weaker than SOME kaiju naturally NOT all of them.
Notice how during almost the entire fight, Mechagodzilla’s focus is only on Godzilla. This shows that Ghidorah (San a.k.a Kevin) still wants revenge on Godzilla
One of the things I love the most about this movie is the facial expressions of the Kaijus. Like, you can clearly see how absolutely dumbfounded Godzilla is at 0:26-0:29 when he realizes that Kong is actually helping him. I freaking love the fact that we can see their personalities more through their facial expressions as well as their actions. It's one of the things that makes the Monsterverse so great to me Edit: Spelling and grammatical errors
And TOHO doesn’t want them to give Godzilla personally. They want him to be a mindless destruction machine. Yet they are the ones that made him laugh, dance, and hug his son first.

Something about Kong taking the time while Mechagodzilla is dazed to throw that arm away and roar makes it feel like he KNOWS that he’s got it won now. That combined with the angle of the shot with Kong covered in the oil from Mechagodzilla makes that single clip one of my favorite bits in the entire fight.
I do recall Kong dying in New York in most of his incarnations, and Zilla was the only incarnation of Godzilla that died in New York. I think the only times Godzilla legitimately died was in the bottom of Tokyo Harbor (Oxygen Destroyer 1954) and just on the outskirts of Tokyo (nuclear meltdown 1995).
Man, I still can’t believe we got to see a fight like this with modern VFX. Kid me really thought Godzilla and Kong movies were done for a bit in the early 2000s, and now it’s a whole franchise again.

If you had told me back in 2014, when I was about to go see Godzilla in theaters that it would lead to Kong decapitating Mecahgodzilla with an Axe, I would have said you were insane. But OH MY GOD, this was one of the greatest film experiences of my life

I love how Mechagodzilla gradually took Kong more seriously as the fight progressed when he was mainly focusing on Godzilla. In Mechagodzilla’s eyes Kong went from being nothing more than an inconvenience to a primary threat when he brought out the axe. 💀💀
This is my favourite scene in the whole movie. Godzilla and Kong teaming up to defeat the big and badder monster. It was awesome when Godzilla powered Kong’s axe with his atomic breath.

I think one of the best explanations to why Kong beat Mechagodzilla easily is not only because he had the help of Godzilla but also because the Mech and even Gidorahwas programmed on how to fight Godzilla. So he probably had no clue what to do against Kong because he wasn’t used to fighting Kong

I kinda want a movie where Godzilla and Kong work side by side to fight another dangerous foe. There's something oddly satisfying about watching these two work together.
Was still so awesome to see these 2 on the screen together again. Me and my cousin who has autism absolutely loved both their movies growing up and he loved this movie so much. He was trash talking me when godzilla beat Kong but he was so happy when Kong saved Godzilla. Was just great seeing him so excited
For those who don't know, King Ghidorah spirit was controlling Mechagodzilla. He is the reason Skull island became uninhabitable, death of the natives, and Kong having to leave for a new home. In a way, Kong unknowingly got payback on Monster Zero for it all.
I was scared that Godzilla was actually gonna die by Mecha. It was a good thing Kong actually helped with his muscle power and axe. That took team work
From Godzilla’s perspective, Kong went out of his way to defend him from Mechagodzilla and then was able to destroy it simultaneously finishing off King Ghidorah. He gain Godzilla’s gratitude and respect at the same time
Opnions aside, this fight is still for me arguably one of the best fights in Legendary's Godzilla PERIOD. From Mechagodzilla overwhelming Godzilla, to Godzilla powering the axe, to Kong rips Mecha's skull and spine off, everything in this fight is beautiful.

I love how Mechagodzilla gradually took Kong more seriously as the fight progressed when he was mainly focusing on Godzilla. In Mechagodzilla’s eyes Kong went from being nothing more than an inconvenience to a primary threat when he brought out the axe. 💀💀

This is my favourite scene in the whole movie. Godzilla and Kong teaming up to defeat the big and badder monster. It was awesome when Godzilla powered Kong’s axe with his atomic breath.

The thing I love about godzilla movies is that they don't even really need to be good movies. They just need to be fun to watch and they haven't disappointed
I think one of the best explanations to why Kong beat Mechagodzilla easily is not only because he had the help of Godzilla but also because the Mech and even Gidorahwas programmed on how to fight Godzilla. So he probably had no clue what to do against Kong because he wasn’t used to fighting Kong

Godzilla and Kong holding MechaG's arms and throwing him into a building was the best thing that I saw in this movie.
For those who don't know, King Ghidorah spirit was controlling Mechagodzilla. He is the reason Skull island became uninhabitable, death of the natives, and Kong having to leave for a new home. In a way, Kong unknowingly got payback on Monster Zero for it all.

I was scared that Godzilla was actually gonna die by Mecha. It was a good thing Kong actually helped with his muscle power and axe. That took team work
From Godzilla’s perspective, Kong went out of his way to defend him from Mechagodzilla and then was able to destroy it simultaneously finishing off King Ghidorah. He gain Godzilla’s gratitude and respect at the same time
Adam Wingard truly knew these monsters and had a true passion in the makìng of this movie he delivered perfectly wish he could finish his trilogy

Man the tension in 2:25 feels like your also destroying MechaG. You can feel every hit with Kong's axe
The expression on Godzilla's face after Kong saved his life is one of my favorite moments from this final battle against Mechagodzilla.
Opnions aside, this fight is still for me arguably one of the best fights in Legendary's Godzilla PERIOD. From Mechagodzilla overwhelming Godzilla, to Godzilla powering the axe, to Kong rips Mecha's skull and spine off, everything in this fight is beautiful.

A highlight for me was seeing King Kong fight MechaGodzilla. Two characters I never thought I’d see together.
