Great video GDN. Two of my worst losses playing BT back in the 90s were against a group playing as the Wolf's Dragoons and for some reason I decided to play as the Lyran Commonweatlh. We were play what we considered a canon based game. We could only use mechs, vehicles, and aerospace assets that were available to our specific faction in the TROs and associated canonical materials. We were fighting for a planet in Steiner space in a best out of seven series to determine who won the planet. Each side initiated three of the battles with the final battle being a pitched conflict. Needless to say the Wolf's Dragoon won their three battles and stopped one of my attacks, I won two, and the final battle was a draw. Wolf's Dragoons is an awesome merc group and I learned to tread lightly when fighting them.
Hello Grim. Another good video. I cannot wait for you to further reveal the history of the Wolf's Dragoons to your fan base. Being an 'old' player of the game, I played several missions, both for and against the Wolf's Dragoons back when 3025 tech was all there was. I can tell you that ANY mission that featured the Black Widow Company was one to go into with great trepidation, and a hefty amount of caution. The single 'loss' I sustained against the Widows cured me of my hubris and taught me to look carefully at the mission briefings and data packets. To my knowledge, I am only one of a literal handful of people to 'win' that scenario in my old playing group. If memory serves me, it was a toss up between myself and one other as to who 'won' the scenario most efficiently. Keep making videos my friend... I enjoy each and every one, and definitely see them as the 'high point' of my week. Spoken, Frank-ly
I was under the impression that the Dragoons just went native when they started preparing the Inner Sphere for the Clan Invasion. Interesting to learn they were just following orders. It's hard to imaging how an employer could be worse than the Capellans, but if anyone could manage it it'd be the Dracs. I was going to be incredulous that anyone could be more famous than the unit that discovered the Helm memory core, but after hearing about their mysterious resupplies and how they systematically warred their way around the Inner Sphere I can believe it.
The fun part is comparing what the Wolf Dragoons might have done differently if they were trying to weaken the Inner Sphere before the Clan invasion. These 'evil' Wolf Dragoons might have attacked the factions in the line of Clan return, attacked locations that were trying to recover Lostech, kept their high technology secret, and let the Inner Sphere think there was nothing to worry about. Oh wait
Grim, would you be interested in naratating a few of the Battlecorp short stories? Specificaly the one where Elementals engage in a trial of possesion, by playing american football.
@@GrimDarkNarrator I love all of the Battletech content you make. My go to channel for if i need to explain something to a friend who is a new comer to the universe.
Been loving your battletech lore series. I've been working through the Grey death legion books you read a few years back. Awesome stuff. 👌 Plus razorfist just did a reading of ghost of winter. The tide is rising
What did we expect? We sent into the Inner Sphere to work with every House, they did that. They had to resupply their fighting force with local manpower. Did you expect them to suddenly help us when we invaded with a vast majority of them being freebirth?
I was introduced to Battletech with the book Wolves on the Border. Since then these are my favorite mercenary company!
My first was Heir to the Dragon. Picked it up at a PX in Germany, just looking for something to read; been hooked ever sense.
That's a good book. My favourite from the few Battletech novels I read.

Thanks for the share.
With how much lore there is on the Dragoons, this series should be Black Templars length, at least. Looking forward to it, thanks GDN.
It's gonna be 3 videos. Maybe extras on characters and events someday.
@@GrimDarkNarrator ooooooo please do. Your content is amazing.

Thanks for sharing this story, Frank :)
such a cool idea to make a clan scout mission in the cover of a merc company, realy enjoyable ^^ thx for the overview!
Silly merchs thinking a group of 12x Atlas at 9:37 was an Assault Company. That was a Steiner Scouting force.
Haha lol.
Wolf dragoons being epic enough to punch the Word Of Blake in the face.
Nothing pumps your adrenaline better than runnning with the Pack.Hear the Howl of the Freeborn and tremble!
Meh except they started making their own true borns sooo not so free born in the end
02:20. Of course the Locust gets one shotted.

They kinda do go native later on.
