I have always been curious of electrostatic headphones and especially Stax. Have never own a pair until I bought the new SR-X1/SRM-270S combination. Build quality is ok, about the same as my Vox AC 30 (Audio Technica) guitar amp headphones (£100 ca). Built to be lightweight so nice on the head. Sound is good but not great. The bass surprised me, much stronger than I thought it to be. They are slightly dark sounding and not as transparent as some of my planar magnetics or dynamics headphones. All my other headphones needed "burn in" time so I will se (hear) what have changed with these electrostatics within a month or so.
I love your facinating video`s , passionate , i like your presenontation (i,m dyslixic) , if you can can you do your favorite Amp, Speakers , Record turnable mini seriers please.
I think headphones across a wide spectrum of price and design sound better than speakers. It is the weirdness of sound in your head which seems unnatural to a lot of people.
I once tried out a pair of Jecklin Float 2 headphones. The most incredible sound but they were positioned about 1” from each ear and made you look like a cyberman. I didn’t buy them.
True, but he's entitled to give his opinion. Phil dosen't ask you to agree. After all it's his TH-cam channel and he gives his opinion on all he reviews. Thats what his channel is about.
Slight problem here. Stax are not the best headphone brand in the world. This is, of course my own personal opinion, but to use your own personal opinion as a headline for the video, without any sort of qualification, is a wee bit naughty.

Very nice turntable 👌. Only thing I would play with on a new P6 is turntable mats at some point, I like the Funk Firm Achromats sound on Regas.😉
Planar headphones such as Hifiman are a very good and much more affordable approach to the Stax sound.
Dahlquist DQ-10 looked like the Quad 57 but was a 5-way dynamic driver speaker.

I had some ATH8 sold on in the eighties they would fade out under load
Perhaps that's why I have never preferred conventional headphones over speakers.
I did once hear a pair of electrostatic "radiator" sized speakers 🎶🙂

Sennheiser hd 600 best ever in my opinion.

I had a pair too. They looked ridiculous. They were not electrostatic though, they used dynamic drivers. Before that a pair of Wharfedal Isodynamics.

The lack of body and dynamics is a deal breaker for me.
