- This is the”Fotoplayer” manufactured by the American Photo Player Co. New York, NY- Berkeley, CAL. USA. I had the opportunity to experience this in person which was very interesting so I thought I would share it. All credit goes to Joe Rinaudo. Thank you for allowing me to film this and share it with everyone. The Fotoplayer is incredibly complex and requires skill not only to restore it but play it as well. “What you could do is introduce….” Thanks for watching.
it makes me extremely happy that such an impressive and intricate piece of machinery from such an old era is still up and running like new, its beautiful. also quite happy that joe himself is still around and seems as spry as ever, considering most videos of him and his fotoplayer are like 10 years old, i wasnt expecting to really find any new stuff about them both. glad i was mistaken!
Glad you enjoyed it
Syntheads be like: this be my gramp's TRUE analog synth.

Yes sir, it’s him.
Providing us with another riot of fun.
🪄✨🌟💎😁
It is Joe himself
He has a YT channel too, just search up “entry of the gladiators on an American photoplayer” you’ll find him very quickly
Indeed, it's him
This is truly the ultimate circus music machine.
Haha 😂 yup
Very impressive. What a marvel. I didn't know about such instruments. Thanks for sharing and taking good care of this beauty. Regards from France.
They used to be used
Joe is amazing....love his videos! Thanks for posting.
You bet!
Joe hits it yet again
HIT IT JOE!
Is this where the term "With all the bells and whistles" comes from?
🔍🤔💭💡
“Sounds” very likely.
🎓💎🎯
It’s simply amazing!! I’m Italian and working in a museum with a collection of musical boxes( like a orchestrion, graphophone, grammophone etc.) I’ve seen more of this (beautiful) machines but nothing are like a photoplayer. I’m an historian of cinema and for me this music represented the pioneers of seventh art, with a childish feeling of freedom and joy, a song of liberty… photoplayer is most amazing music boxes never invented ❤❤❤
I am a lover of music boxes and automata. I agree, the photoplayer is the greatest invention in music
bro make some video to introduce your collections :)
Im not Italian.
I’d love to see a cover of some modern pop music on this
It's amazing how this old instrument is still in perfect condition!!!
Joe is legendary
this thing is awesome!!! i wish i knew what the bells, sirens/whistles and horn looked like inside!
One lovely guy! 🤗
Amazing that this is the way they did all the music for the little rascals and three stooges and laurel and hardy.
you are wonderful, thank you for this, God bless.
Glad it was helpful!
Silly ahh contraption.
Joe will never stop hittin it
The last photoplayer player!
Does this guy know how to party or what!!!
I love it man, keep it up!

it’s literally my wish come true
I would love to have this

*thingamajigmawhatsitmacallit*
He even got the honkler, oh man
Joe is “Mr. American Fotoplayer.” A marvelous instrument, likely detested by the musicians it replaced in silent film…
HIT IT JOE
How is the sound at 2:59 made? The second pull-rope on his right hand that makes the long "whistle" sound?
how can we thank him personally?
Aaw (analog audio workstation)
Hit it Joe!
Whats the name of this piece being played on the piano??
Bro dropped the silliest beat
Anyone know what came first the Decap Organ or Fotoplayer?
most likely the fotoplayer
@@KristoAnimates thanks. My grandfather used to listen to casettes with decap organ songs. All of the songs sounded hilarious so me and my sister laughed about it so much when we were kids
question! how old is mr joe?
I believe in his late 70’s
Se escucha bien mamón!!!!
Goofy ahh instrument
"There will never be a mischievous and Goofy instrument" mfs when they see this
