I’ve never fit in. Anywhere. Ever.
Working in Fortune 500 banks, I wore teal suits + had purple hair.
In Cosmetology school, 98% of my peers + teachers were women.
The past 5-7 years, I’ve served in predominantly white church congregations.
On one hand, I marvel at the ability God gave me to navigate and ascend in spaces where I’m the minority.
On the other hand, I’m ashamed of how I’ve countlessly sacrificed my true self at the alter of other people’s opinion.
