@stretfordender11 The Problem is that United want to see the future benefits for everyone in this project such as jobs for Civilians, Profit for the government, For the club , housing ,New Railway for the train etc etc and they need funding from private investors /Public, so they cannot do just the rebuild. They could've done the rebuild if the glazers didn't suck more than 1 billion pounds from the club cuz Real Madrid spent their own money.

They escalated $2.5 Billion, but the more they delay it the more it cost can be. Look at the SoFi stadium, the original plan was around $2 Billion then shit happened and the cost skyrocketing to around $5 Billion. I'm not a United fan but I personally prefer they keep Old Trafford and redevelop it like Barcelona or Madrid, or upgrading part by part like Liverpool, Build a new stadium is just an ego like american. Look American have so many pretty stadium but then again they build it just for the sake of an ego, their old stadium is pretty much usable and still < 30 years old building.

I think it's too expensive and too ambitious. Utd don't need a 100000 capacity stadium. Something around 80000 max is all that's needed.
If your going to build an 80000 you may as well go for the 100000. Utd need to making big statements in world football.
united have over 120,000 people on the waiting list for a season ticket - that's on top of the 50,000 they already have

yeah but it's not rly about what they need but moreso about what they can. reality is that utd is one of the only clubs in the world that is capable of filling out a 100,000 capacity stadium with ease, especially if u consider that prices may drop as a result of higher attendance.
