you dont drive them, they are garbage to drive and as a bus driver i say they are a road hazzard. there is no other way to describe them, the warranty is junk the blindspot is wide there is NO comfort for the operator and the interior is sloppy, uncomfortable, easy to stain permantly, and ugly. i hate driving them, one reason is that other drivers on the road swear cuss and show the middle finger to me EVERY day. merging into traffic is comicly slow and highly irritating to driver, passengers, and ALL road users.
Our mechanics rather work on the 60ft as they are made in a different plant than the 40ft. The QA is lacking from the plant that makes the 40ft. We have the 40ft diesel hybrid and I have to disagree. While it is slow from 0-20 mph there's a reason for that. After you pass 20mph these buses take off like a rocket. So easy to speed. Apparently you haven't driven a Proterra bus, so bad makes New flyer look good. Proterra is a rattle box, so slow up a hill whereas the New flyer smokes the Proterra.
I love New Flyer buses so much, I bought a 2005 D40LF last week. It is a rock solid machine!

They rock back and forth when pulling in and out of stops. Novas are better
New Flyer used to make good buses now they just make terrible pieces of junk in the name of "climate change"
