I got one a few years back. It came with some issues. A bad light leak, a spring for the mirror had jumped off it's peg and the mirror dampening pad was nonexistent, oh also corroded battery compartment in the prism box. It was sold as "clean and ready to shoot" lol. But I'd gotten a great deal and these things are really easy to fix. Light leaks and bumper pad were less than five bucks at the craft store (just a piece of felt) and the spring was super easy to reach and battery compartment was fixed easy too. It's just been fantastic since. You're right it's a tank, and the meter is still pretty accurate.
Nice review! That 90mm is crazy sharp and beautiful out of focus area! My only grippe is the frame overlap. I get it always but when I dont its amazing stuff
I just got my 60 yesterday. Still getting acquainted. Mines a bit weird. Name plate on the front says 6C but it most definitely is a 60. I’ve done medium format for years with different cameras. I’m really looking forward to using this one. Only thing is, I wish I’d bought it when I was younger! These cameras keep gaining weight!
Thanks heaps for the vids 💪 definitely want to pick one up.... have you had any experience with the 35mm Soviet gear? I keep hearing people froffing about the “Jupiter 8” lens
Thanks for watching and getting in touch. This is the only Soviet cam we have but I'm keen to give a Zorki a try. If we get one we'll definitely feature it in a video
Don`t know if anybody mentioned this but kiev 60 (which is kind of a little upgrade over 6c/6s (c is s in russian)) has a shutter button on the right and a better focusing screen, the one where there`s an image splitting thingy.
I have a 6c which I bought from Ukraine £45 plus £35 for postage. Love it 90mm Vega 2.8 is crisp. I shoot using my thumb. I use the waist level finder a lot focusing at eye level and move your eye up and shoot using the direct view.
Thanks for watching. I’ve never had the issue but have heard of it happening. My best advice is to find one that has been CLA’d. There are plenty around on eBay. A lot for Kiev and Ukraine.
Claudia Bailey if you’ve shot a 35 mm SLR before then pretty straight forward. Very similar just a lot larger. You’ll need a light meter or light meter phone app.
Wait, no pissed Ukrainians entered the comments yet pointing out that this is NOT a Russian but a Ukrainian camera? :D I've used the Kiev 60 for 6 years now and still love it to bits, it's a remarkably sturdy and easy to use camera, has some quirks but nothing that isn't easy to fix. Flocking the mirror box is probably a good idea, if you have issues with overlapping frames simply ignore the red dot and move the start arrow to the take up spool, fixed.
Well it’s neither Russian nor Ukrainian. It was made in the ussr in Kiev. But wait some of the crazy nationalists will find this video soon and start spamming and I’m really sorry about that guys as I’m from this country too Speaking about the camera it’s damn good. My dad bought it back in that days before he had Kiev 4 and those are great cameras made for centuries not for ages( ussr produced things only like that:):)

I brought the Kiev 60 a few weeks ago when I saw it on one of your previous video and another vlogger, also my first medium format and really pleased.
Angela's Angle we hope you enjoy yours as much as Brett does his.
My first medium format camera as of today as well! "Heavy as" is an apt description 😂
Love the shots, thanks for the update on this machine!
Slightly Hungry Artist all the best with yours. Can’t wait to see your shots

Thanks for the feedback we really appreciate it. I must have gotten lucky with mine as I’ve never had the overlap
Hi mate, I’m over from Twitter. Thanks for the review, looks like a decent choice for sure. It’s on my list now!
Thanks for watching Matt, I always say to get one that has been CLA’d as then you’ll know it’s good to go.
@@doubleexposed3830 Thanks, yeah CLA is important. You're welcome. I subbed as your channel's content is right up my street!

Would love to see some of the images you make with it
6c has shutter on the left.
Nice GYBE poster 👍
Nice review. Thanks. Just got the 6C today)
Ivan V enjoy

Yep the 60 did make the switch to the right and other upgrades. Thanks for watching

neil piper good to see more love coming in for these Russian beauties
Good vid!
Avery Del Miller thanks Avery
Hey! have you ever had any frame spacing issues with the Kiev? I hear people talking about them. If so, how do you fix the issue? thanks and great vid

@@doubleexposed3830 thank you! have a nice day :)
I’m having trouble learning the ISO dial on mine, any tips?
I don’t use the light meter on the camera. I use a phone app for my metering. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful
@@doubleexposed3830 I do the same... what I’m asking about is the dial on top of the advance lever to set to the film speed.
Do you know if the camera lenses allow for a converter to say the Hasselblad v Mount system?
I know you can get converters. My CZ came with one but I’m not sure if they have ones for the Hasselblad v.
Which font did you use for the video thumbnail? I'd like to use it to make a custom nameplate for my kiev
How difficult is it to shoot on one of these for a beginner?
Claudia Bailey if you’ve shot a 35 mm SLR before then pretty straight forward. Very similar just a lot larger. You’ll need a light meter or light meter phone app.
Double Exposed thank for the quick response that’s good to know
