Pupil Premium: Babington Community College

A number of new plans were announced today to help support schools to make the most of pupil premium funding to help disadvantaged children.
We're working with Ofsted to look at how well schools are doing in closing the gap between the most disadvantaged children and others. From this September, it's unlikely that a school will be 'outstanding' if it's not making sure that these children are doing well.
If a school is judged to be 'requiring improvement' it will need to take part in a review of how it is managing the extra money it is receiving, if Ofsted inspectors were concerned about how much of a difference they were seeing. Another headteacher with a proven track record in using this money creatively and truly making a difference will help to make sure that the school is doing everything it can.
We're also announcing that John Dunford is the new pupil premium champion. John is the Chair of Whole Education and the Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors. From September he'll be using his wide experience of education to talk to schools and highlight great examples of schools making the best use of the pupil premium money.
