Also, on the costumes, Geoff once described Voiceplay as Pentatonix but sillier. I reinterpreted that to explain it to someone with no knowledge of the three groups: Pentatonix are the Student Council Voiceplay are the Theatre Nerds (not an insult, I was one) Home Free are the guys throwing the tailgate in the parking lot.
That is so accurate!! Lol! I started out 10 yrs ago as a Pentaholic, now I am into all 3 of these wonderfully talented groups! I feel so blessed to be living in the age of a capella awareness! When I was in high school choir, a capella was just a term that the choir director used to say "no piano or organ"!! But I have always loved a capella singing!!!
Well.... Geoff didn't HIT that note. He slam dunked himself on it and broke it in the process. This is his viking name: Geoff "The Notebreaker" Castellucci.
Layne: hey, guys, I have a new vid idea. Geoff: here comes my next makeup nightmare! They did such an awesome job! And Jose blends in perfectly. It was really nice to hear Layne sing for a change. All their harmonies are amazing, and OMG! How long can Geoff hold those subterranean notes?!?! Like someone said in another comment, "Geoff is so badass that his own voice is blowing his hair!" I really love this! Thanks, Dennis!
I don't think there a lot of "air" requirements to produce those lowest notes. Pearl Divers hold their breath for three minutes or more. Wouldn't it be interesting to see how long Geoff could hold that note? LOL
There's a Whole Lot of Extras going on, that most folk would Look over!!! These acapella groups Voiceplay, Home Free and Pentatonix are CRAZY Talented!!! Wish some of their Talents would OOZE on to us!!! WOW!!!
"...[Voiceplay[ are in a completely different pocket right now." THIS. Exactly this. I'm so glad to hear someone else saying what I have been thinking lately- there is something that has happened in their arrangements recently, a notable progression in terms of complexity and intensity from their older work. And sure, you expect some degree of progress as a group matures, but this is practically exponential. What's more incredible is that it is occurring in both Layne and Geoff's arrangements, although they've worked together for so long now that their individual styles of arrangement are already very similar, and they no doubt learn from each other voraciously. And this is all without even touching on their phenomenal vocal abilities- as you said, we're on repeat about those now. I'm just really pleased to be here, watching VoicePlay blow the lid off of a cappella in real time. No hate intended toward PTX, but everyone else can have them. They are intensely talented vocalists, but they do not have arrangements like VoicePlay, and I am *here* for those.
This is my favorite Voiceplay video. Monster Mash and Ain't no sunshine are my favorite Geoff videos. I have been watching these videos for the last couple days with only a few hours sleep. I can't seem to put down my tablet or phone. My mother told me and monster Mash are both best on my tablet cause of the 8" screen. Double my phone screen.
This Grown Man, with a family, is shaking his head for he got beat. Got the beat down on him. Making him remember what His mother Told Him. Voice play killed it. They came to battle and won. Won not just This poor Reactor but everyone who listens.
This one is a serious jaw-dropper! What with Geoff, and Layne doing their things like beasts, and all the outstanding singing...I can’t wait for you to watch this and see your own expressions! I can’t stop laughing at them, myself no offense.
I swear I've watched basically your entire channel...IDK how i didnt see this before. I'm reminded why i loved your reactions at the beginning. Btw, the headphone drop was a very Qofy move...at least it wasn't your pants!
I think the costuming comes from the fact that 1. They live in Orlando. 2. They all also worked at either Disney World or Universal Studios. Geoff met Kathy at Universal both working in Beetlejuice Graveyard Revue for 10 years. He was Frankenstein.
Like a lot of people here, I have watched reactions to Voice Play and Home Free and Pentatonix too. The women reactors are all "wowed" by the bass but it's the reactions from the men that I find the most interesting. With some male reactors there is a glint and a smile that comes onto their faces when a bass note is dropped and with others, there's almost a sense of alarm or a widening of the eyes that signals, perhaps, a flight or fight moment for some reactors. Either way, there's a reason sub woofers were invented. One of which was to be able to rumble out the basso profundo notes these gentlemen are able to produce. Well done Voice Play. Absolutely engaging.
Elliot has such a powerful voice. Then Geoff says....nope, I will take it from here.... Came back to watch it again....did they break you Dennis? It is from a tv show The Vikings...
Jose used to work at Busch Gardens in a couple shows, and also worked at Universal Orlando in Beetlejuice with Geoff as Dracula. Calvin of Rockapella used to work at Busch Gardens as well. And a previous member of Rockapella, Steve Dorian, worked for Busch Gardens and Disney.
Scott and Jeff are not original members but were in Where in the World is Carmen San Diego?. George Baldi III was their bass and John Brown was their tenor for a long time after Carmen San Diego. When I first really started to enjoy them due to Steve being in the group George and John were still part of the group. John left to join the ministry (replaced by Calvin) then George left (replaced by Ryan Chapelle). This was the last change up I saw in person. I haven't seen a live show of theirs in a few years. Steve and Ryan are no longer in the group.
And this is why VoicePlay is my favorite, hands down. Not only do they put so much passion, dedication, and emotion into their singing, they make it a full theater production with costumes and makeup. They're not afraid to put their all into it. I love these guys so much, and I'm more than happy to support them on Patreon because they give us incredible videos and music like this 💗 Great reaction, I love that it basically left you speechless 😁
I loved the song so much and seeing your reaction to it gives me the same kind of rush as hearing it the first time. I love how this one practically broke you hahahah.

xD im binging on yer channel ( LOVING IT ) this is the 3rd and all 3 have been VP; xD 2 of the 3 have you just dropping your headphones in utter defeat. i LOVE how their music overwhelms you but i love even MORE how many of you "Reactors" are affected JUST LIKE THIS by the same songs!! i began watching to see if anyone would be as affected by this group as i have been and i have completely fallen in love with this genre of content mostly because of the wonderfully candid reactions from you wonderful Hosts/Hostesses. you are a god-send, thank you.
I have been watching a few of reaction videos of this song and I keep laughing my head off. They are awesome, every song they bring out I'm more in love with them.
I love your reaction videos. Somehow it's nice to see a bulked up manly man beeing blown away and showing emotions to some good singing. Especially for the fact that although you emphasize Geoff's incredible voice you also don't forget to honor the rest of the highly talented crew unlike many other youtubers. Keep it up, my man!
Wow. I’m a Home Free fan, but VP is impressive here, not just the voice arrangement but the combination of their makeup, their serious role playing, the scenery, the operatic feel of the production. I wish HF would take note-sometimes their role playing fall short because one member would deviate, that’s you, Chance. 😆 Anyway, kudos to VP, you’re making me look outside my current playlist. Keep it up! Thanks for your honest reaction, Dennis!

Yeah, I don't remember any song or video by them I didn't like, but for me it was a mix of "I really like it" and "I absolutely LOVE this". Lately they're giving us hit after hit. And I am sooo not complaining. 😬
"I hear warhorns! Is the enemy approaching?"
"Nah, it's just Geoff."
Lol too funny but true
Also, on the costumes, Geoff once described Voiceplay as Pentatonix but sillier. I reinterpreted that to explain it to someone with no knowledge of the three groups:

“Geoff is doing Geoff things” literally me every voice play video🤣🤣
That’s one of my favorite things I’ve heard on any reaction video 😂😂
The look on your face after that is exactly why we watch reactions. Most of us have felt the same...the amazing, magnificent VoicePlay.
Not to mention the facial expression he does at the beginning I'm rolling on my bed laughing
Geoff actually hits the note of a true Viking war horn. Makes me proud to be descended from Vikings!
Well.... Geoff didn't HIT that note. He slam dunked himself on it and broke it in the process. This is his viking name: Geoff "The Notebreaker" Castellucci.

I've learned that headphones are a must to get the full Geoff experience. I loved your reaction. Throwing the headphones! LOL.

Couldn't agree more. PTX is incredible, but not my cup of tea. VoicePlay is top tier for me.
I absolutely loved this reaction 😊 xx
So what Geoff is doing is something called throat singing and it's a fairly hard thing to do!! He's an absolute beast 😂
Speechless is about right. The guest tenor, Jose, has such a rich tenor voice it is enchanting and mystical. Great reaction.

No, no... still being blown away is still a valid reaction. Geoff killed me on this one.

Geoff sounding like the Horn of Helm Hammerhand in Lord of the Rings lol.
There be the reason the old sailing ships had that big ass war horn.. STRIKE FEAR IN THE HEARTS OF EVERYONE!!!!
Love Eli's belt in this too
I watched the premiere and it was amazing. Like you said on Austin's video, I can't wait to share that feeling again, watching you watch it.
Mic Drop......💣🤯
you will love this man i just saw it and it blow my mid way i am so happy you are reaction to this and you video aer great keep it up man:)
I appreciate the costumes, make up, character, and general performance they bring into everything they do. They all killed it! I got to see them live.
Okay, I laughed way too hard when you said "What in the beatbox is going on here?!" IDK why but that just tickled me.
New quote of the year:

Nah, the one I'll use the most is "What in the beat box is going on here?"
Geoff: *absolutely SENDS it*
Eli: “Hold my mead.”

Sea shanties are so 2020. VoicePlay went full Viking!
@Dennis drink that coffee. Stay awake with me now 😂😂😂😂
You need to react to Geoff’s new cover of misty mountains... it is INSANE!!
The original song was written in 1260. Early this year, boredom brought back some old songs. Like the sea shantess that we've been seeing.
Don't shake your head to much while Geoff rattles your headphones drivers to their max, you might get seriously hurt . . .
