We spend our lives trying to understand what `higher’ means. It means above the ordinary events of this life. Whatever struggles (including death) that this life can throw at us don’t affect what is `higher’ because what is `higher’ is above all that. Any desire for this life therefore, is not `higher’ but `down here where we all live.’ As we grow old and fail to find this higher true self we become cynical of our youthful enthusiasms. We might say things like, `I wish I knew then what I know now.’ And so, if I did, I might not have wasted so much time on this obscure BS, because it doesn’t get you anywhere. But that’s only if become a cynic about the promises of our youth. What I’ve come to realise in my old age is that this `higher’ which we all become aware of in our youth is actually true. It’s not an illusion. I realise now in my own old age that in our youth we do not aim too high, rather we aim too low. Whether we have success in this life or not; treat both as the same imposter because both of them are `of’ this life and neither of them are `higher’ than this life. Struggle with the concept of `higher things’ always and never give up. It turns out, in the end, to be the good fight after-all. In the heat of struggle, look up. That’s where `higher’ lives. And then you’ll find your peace and you’ll bring it back down into this life and live it with those around you. Now you’ve fulfilled your responsibility and your purpose no matter what status you have in life. We may see our `higher’ self once or twice in a lifetime if we are lucky, we are still left to struggle with it because we realise we can’t have it yet. We’re stuck down here below. This struggle we are left with is what drives us to `seek.’ You called it a sense of `inner knowing’ and that’s exactly what it is. It’s an inner knowing because we find it within. We won’t find it without in worldly successes. As your man Abraham said we receive peek experiences. Because these peek experiences are within us they are for the individual alone. We can’t give them away because the other must also seek within themselves. Whatever we can give them therefore comes from without, from their point of view. What we realise after a while is that there is a common `giver.’ The key is to seek the giver of the `peek experience.’ This peek experience is just a glimpse, a sign post along the way, that leads us on to `seek.’ Do you know what the greatest cause of `forgetfulness of who we are’ and `losing track of who we are,’ is? It’s `success in this life,’ because worldly success is the best facsimile we have of what we’re looking for and so when we gain it we think we’ve found our higher self and we stop seeking. And we forget. And then we have a midlife crisis…..if we’re lucky, because it might put us back on the true path. PS Don't belittle this insight you had with the ants. Its no accident it came to you after three days of contemplation and shutting out the outside world. It's a sheer gift of grace.
Yeah, I'm listening to this to learn English

Thank you for this reminder. Mathew 19:26 Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."
