For some reasons i have missed this video and specs of this kayak. Hull weight 62 lbs and 400 lb limit My Lifetime is 57lb and 300 lb limit. I was looking hard at a Hobie Passport 10.5 @ 65 lbs and overpriced Lynx @ 45 lbs. I trying to keep this weight down so i can rooftop a pedal kayak. Heck the Native Slayer 10 might be the choice! The soonest i can upgrade would be early November 2024. Thank you
@@wendellfishing I looked at a Hobie Passport 10.5R today, I was not impressed. Practically the layout was just like my Tamarack pro but with a cheaper seat and fin drive without reverse. Now the Hobie Outback was nice but I would need a tow package and trailer. Way out of my price range.
I have the same kayak but think mine is older model. Will agree biggest complaint is the steering but like the light weight so at 60 I can still get it on top of my SUV to take when I go camping like next week. THANKS for the videos!!!!!!!!
Just picked up one of these lightly used for a pretty good deal. I went with an og lure 11.5(non removable center pod) instead and spent the difference on a fish finder. I regret not going straight to pedal drive. :)
I don’t know if you know to much to be able to compare Two but I’m in a toss up between getting the perception showdown (11.5 ft) or the Native propel(pd) 10ft kayaks.
Daron.. nice name.. even though you spell it wrong! :) To be honest, I can't say much as I've never been on the Perception PD but please note that the Native Slayer PD was an older model.. and they have got nothing but better. Let me know what you come up with.
The only thing that bother me is there is no place to mount a trolling motor or a micro powerpole to the stern. And there is no aftermarket mount for that as well. Other then that everything is good.
@@wendellfishing Btw. I did some research about to put a powerpole in the stern and found out there is a store called kayak fishing store aka kfs, they use to have a custom mount for u to put a powerpole or a torqeedo motor. I tried to reach them and got no reply. I think they r permanently closed.
Do you still like this kayak? I’m debating getting a 2022 while they are still available before they get phased out for the newer (and much heavier) max edition. I’m considering the hobie compass too. I want it light as possible for car topping
Hey Jay, I very much like this kayak and have been fishing out of it for years. They have improved the design over the years. Bare, this one is 65lbs... one of the lightest on the market.
@@wendellfishing thank you. I’m gonna try moving mine to the back because the crate is just too far back with the way i have it now. I’ll let you know how it works out
Good to know. My hobie mirage does ok but I'm looking at this one since it's even lighter. Btw your channel kicks ass! I've learned a ton watching your stuff!

Oh man.. this video is an oldie!
@@wendellfishing Quick question: Does the behind the seat compartment fit a Yakattack Nocqua 10h Battery? Looks a little small

My 1st Kayak ever & I love it! Best investment I ever made💪🏾

Stratos… happy to help and good luck on slaying some bass this weekend!

Right on Randy! Grab a redfish for me down there.. never caught one before.

Can't argue with you there. Solid points.
@@wendellfishing How’s the stock rudder steering and tracking btw? I know the other model is not the good.
@@jeffreyau1286 Not bad but I can tell it's just a matter of time before I need to replace with a metal boondox rudder.

Sometimes you have to remove the handle and tighten the bolt.
Thanks!

Do you know if they have fixed any of the steering issues?
I don't but sure hope so as this Native is a 2018 model
How does it handle in moving water in a river? Thanks!
Wouldn't be able to tell you.. never have taken it into the river before. I don't think I would.
How has the gear track and sidekick held up since you installed it to the rear ??? Wondering if over time and usage it’s not good in the rear ?
Great question.. No issue in 3 years with the load in the back and I have given it a good beating

@@Anthony-wx4pe Right on.. Disclaimer... I have seen photo's where this has ripped out the screws but I have not had any issue myself.
How does the propeller do when hitting rock, weeds, shallow water, etc.?
No issues

Hey, do you still have this thing? Looking to get a measurement from back of seat to extended pedal in smallest seat position.
Hey Edward... I just measured it and it is roughly 43 inches
@@wendellfishing much appreciated!
