@@ancientsitesgirl If you end up going to Rhodes, a suggestion: There isn't a single video on TH-cam or anywhere I have ever seen that dedicates time and video to the potentially placement locations of the Colossus before it completely disappeared from history. Rhodes is beautiful to begin with and has a large number of ruins but there has never been a quality video which shows the actual shoreline landmass which makes it hard to understand just how large it may have been, where it may have been, and so on.
Very good movie. Amazing shots, amazing music and a nice presenter. For me, Old Mycenae is archaic beginnings of our civilization. Civilization based on Greek culture, Roman law and Christian ethics. It must be remembered that when the Mycenaean civilization flourished, the Eighteenth Dynasty (Hatshepsut, Tuthmosis III, Tuthmosis IV, Amenhotep II, Amanhotep III and IV known as Akhenaten) and later the nineteenth dynasty (Ramesses I, Seti and Great Ramses II) reigned in Egypt. . You can see what there was a gulf in the development of construction and architecture between Mycenae and Egypt. At this time, Thebes was at its peak of heyday. This will change in later centuries. Classical Greek culture will break out and Rome will break out, and Europe will take over the world hegemony.
Greek culture, Roman law and Christian ethics do not come from Europe? Where from? The European civilization has always drawn from various sources - including Arab culture. However, today, the whole world (Arab Emirates, Mongolia, Japan, Korea, even China!) Is based on principles that derive from ancient Europe. Architecture, technologies, communication, etc.
Superb, Irena. I imagine construction at Mycenae, using those megaliths was quite the task. What amazes me most about the Ancient world's structures, is the degree of precision involved; by modern standards of building, there's is on another level altogether. How can you not be impressed - no steel gantry cranes or JCB's to carry those stones - especially over great distances. Fabulous ! Looking forward to watching Heracles' compound.

Great content and commentary. It was a dream of mine to visit Mycenae that I consider the beginning of Greek and maybe European civilization. I remember sitting for hours in the treasury of Atreus, trying to visualize the funeral processions and put together all I had read of this bronze age civilization. You can even do some acoustic tricks in the treasury. So glad you didn't use bouzouki music. The sound fits the video. Good work.

@@ancientsitesgirl Mystras is simply wonderful . Get dropped at the top gate, walk up to the castle then walk all the way down . I took a taxi from Sparta and a bus back from the village, about a km. From the bottom of Mystras. Fills a morning beautifully

Many people believe there once were giants amongst us. This goes back to antiquity. Goliath would be an example of giants showing up in literature. So logically, many think megalithic structures were built by larger humans. Food for thought. You need more viewers. 😘

The technical effects were so good for that time, many thousands of people accused the film producer (Stanley Kubrick) of being hired by NASA to fake the Moon landing. In 2016 his daughter had to publicly denounced that conspiracy. You haven't lost your touch in generating the romanticism of the ancients. That's so hard to do when few historic records remain - let alone the time, money, and political restraints. BTW, The view of the Acropolis was INCREDIBLE!! I really liked it. I just want to take everyone on a journey through ancient sites (show what they really look like) and tell a little (it's impossible to say everything in circa 20 mintes) about these places. 😉 It makes me really happy when I see that someone after watching my video tries to find out more. :)

About the lions above the lion gate: seems like the stones around the lions are carved to fit the lions stone exactly, even tho the heads of the lions are missing. Could the lions stone be of another epoch, or maybe it was looted from another site?
Oh, wait, the heads were gone, and the setting stones fit...it was from else ware and repurposed?...I've happened on such before, browsing yotubes!...what their feet are on is a stylized something...seen on the mural in the throne room, but that might be modern guess...the stone work here so like the stonework in Peru, all the different styles...at this time, there was colony of Greeks in Egypt...Greek like murals and decorations there...
I forgot to mention that I noticed strangely fitting stone boulders in the video. As if they had previously been melted at a very high temperature. Case? I do not think so.

I saw a few videos on Mycenae before I went to Greece but couldn’t get excited enough about it to go.
