Btw thanks for this content! I actually am using one of these smaller Leigh’s weight pro bars on a smaller saw I’m converting down to 3/8 picco pitch. It’s a short bar, weight reduction inserts, narrower kerf and I’m putting that on a chainsaw I’m porting and putting in a pop up piston on.
Even though it was only 8oz it was 8oz out farther away from the center of gravity or balance point of he saw. The further out that is the more you notice which is why even a similar weight shorter bar feels lighter. Think of it like holding a full 5 gallon bucket near your leg vs arms stretched out wide. It’s a huge difference the further out that weight goes.
The husqvarna mount 28" liteweight Japanese Tsumura bar weights 2lbs 15oz so 5.5oz less and costs $90. For balance on the 372xp I would go with the 24" bar tops. 28" is max for this 71cc saw so if you need to run that size alot I would run full skip chain. Less strain on the powerhead.
@Frank Caltabiano Kind of a fussy point with “full house” chain. Full house refers to cutters being right-left-right-left and is a chain sequence used for carving, bamboo, or cutting non-ferrous metal. Full Comp (full compliment) would be a standard chain sequence right tie-strap left tie-strap. Cool video man, nice bar. ✌🏼
Yeah, that Eucalyptus is interesting stuff. When it's standing, it cuts like butter. But if you leave it to dry, it's wicked hard. I'll never do that again. Thanks for the comment!
In my experience in the bigger bars say 28 and up I really like the stihl light bars . I've had a sugi bar and it was super high quality and lasted years but was only a little lighter than stock in. 20 inch.
Really, I just got one of these Stihl Light bars with a new saw, the sprocket jammed within 10 hours of use, theres no hole to grease it either. It's soon to be retired for a new Sugi light
I like sugi hara.. I like the looks of them too. I have an 18 inch on a sach dolmar 115i and its perfect. I like tsumara as well. I have a dolmar ps 540 which is almost the same saw as the 115i and I have an 18 and a 16 inch tsumara bar on it. Both are great..both been in business for quite a while. I didn't put sugi hara on both dolmars because they look like the same saw and I wanted to make them easily distinguishable. I have a vintage new old stock 16 inch tsumara bar with 6 rivets in the sprocket nose.. I have an even heavier and older tsumara bar that I bought with a very unique chain on it. My biggest saw is an ms 460 one day I would love to get a good slightly older pro series Husqvarna.
@@michaeleargle4136 man...your math skills thru the roof... Oregon Bar: 3 lbs and 13 oz (or 61 oz) Sugihara Bar: 3 lbs and 4.5 oz ( or 52.5 oz) Sugihara is 8.5 oz lighter than Oregon. Or a little more than half a pound.
Absolutly. I'm 6'2". I'd run a 32" bar, but it makes the saw way front heavy (I tried it). I run a 28" bar on this saw, which is a 372, and on my Husky 288. If you have a saw that will pull a longer bar, get one. Its much better on your back.
Serious answer: do more streches and squats and have a good chair for relaxing in that wont make any back pain worse. You can also get a tennis ball and press your back up against the ball on a wall and move it around by moving your body.
Possibly a a touch but definitely not way too tight. I don't run my chains sloppy loose like some guys that tend to come off on a bar of this size when you're cutting. I don't know why guys run this change so sloppy loose sometimes.
Yes it would not be too cool if the chain came off when you aren’t wearing bucking pads . I surely cannot understand making a video on You Tube and not taking care to wear safety equipment. I know you probably don’t care for this comment but kickbacks happen ,chains come off , and things can happen very quickly ..years ago I had my denim falling pants cut right thru to the pads from a chain coming off at high speed …scarey and without the pads I might not be typing this at all..

I just ordered one, no sales here. That Spotted gum can be hard stuff but we have hardewr here in Australia, Red Gum, Ironbark, Jarrah, Ironwood

Why is the sugihara heavier I thought the oregon was solid and the sugi had inserts to lessen the weight.
The Sugihara is lighter than the Oregon...he weighs them in the beginning of the video.
