Note to everyone about cockroaches; Its much more of a big deal to find roaches in the UK than most of the US as it is colder, so we never see cockroaches anywhere unless it is especially filthy. No one casually has cockroaches in their house. Even if you pile up food on the floors it is no guarantee you will end up with cockroaches. So seeing one for us brits is especially horrific. It is is on the same level as the inside of your house being full of rats (not mice).

This is not natural for human beings. We are naturally caring and compassionate.
Why does the taxpayer have to fund treating these young men so badly?

I've had mates in every prison in London and the south of the UK. While they are pretty horrible, generally speaking if you keep your head down and get on with your time they are not to bad. They are nothing compared to the absolute hell you will face in America.
The main difference between the US and the UK is it's very rare in the UK for some one to do life as in the rest of their life. This means even the worst offenders have some hope and some reason to behave. If you lock loads of people up and say you will never leave this place, as they do in America, they have nothing , they are deprived of all hope and from that point will become pure evil. These people then have nothing to live for but power with in the prison and will corrupt every thing they go near.

No mate, respect to you. This interview has been the topic of my house for the past few days. Loke me, my daughter was enthralled by your life story. It's fantastic that you are putting that life behind you. Out of all that harrowing shit, this fact is what makes this almost a tale of positivity. You've got a rapier sharp brain and are also in touch with your emotions, a great combination.
Your tale left no stone unturned, left me (and her) without questions as you covered every aspect of your horror (old Shaun did a pretty fair job of asking you the right questions too!!)
You should tour schools. Small gatherings so you can talk to each of them. Man you could change a lot of lives but best of all you changed your own
You are a diamond fella, get out there and spread your shine about.

Got friends dying or on smack left right and centre. I can’t reallly be a child but I am quite grown up for my age (or so I’m told lol). My God this is outrageous. So good you’re speaking out. Particularly letting young men know about everyone literally needs love & interaction. I worked with young offenders. Lasted 6 weeks because I was horrified what I saw. Inadequate men seem to go for the job, very childish, macho, sexist and lacking. You are amazing. You survived!!!!! I reported what I saw to inspectors & MP. Luckily that he’ll hole closed down. You are so brave !!!!!!

I love these interviews. I would have to say my favorite is Shaun’s though and that is because it brought light to something, well many things, I was so unaware of and one that I’m embarrassed of now, thinking Joe Arpaio was a good man and just went about things a bit different. I would never have imagined the lack of care and downright horrid conditions of the prisons he ran to be like that and would have never known if I did not come across your channel and video.
He had done a documentary and/or news special, Arpaio that is, and obviously he looked like he was running a tight ship so I was stunned to hear Shaun’s story and description of the prisons there.
I felt Shaun’s frustration and disappointment about him getting recognized as a great man and pardoned. I do believe if the truth was known about how the prisons under his management were really run he would have never been praised like he was.
I am sorry that you had to hear and/or watch that happen after going through what you had or anyone for that matter. I do not hide the fact I am a Trump supporter but he got this very very wrong regarding Arpaio!
Thank you for doing these videos and interviews! I really do wish I had some kind political power or any type of power to help bring radical change to the prison machine here in the USA!
    ❤️

Hey Shaun. Thanks for the videos. This one is excellent. I’m from England myself and have a similar background in that I moved to the US (NYC) and was heavy into the drug world. I never went to prison but spent time on rikers Island. I was eventually facing 10years and by some miracle I got a drug program instead. I like that your putting out a true version of the prison system for people to see. Rikers island is literally a gladiator type environment. People getting cut every day. Extortion. Gangs rule. And the COs are as fucked up as the inmates. Cheers.

Seems like a really lucky escape mate. Did you have a lot of brushes with the law to get put down or was it a big bust? I always think that here in the UK you get a lot of chances before you get the slammer, America seems a lot more strict I think.

I wonder why there are no videos of UK women's prisons/YOI's on TH-cam? The only explanation I can think of the absence of videos of women's prison is that the footage would be too dark. Rape by male officers and possibly female on female rape (Just speculation) This is due to lack of funds, less staff, compassionate staff leaving, sadistic ones left.
