I do think these are great for mixing when corrected with Sonarworks (which they only rate for listening and not mixing). Without correction they sound muddy to me in the 100Hz region.
For mixing, these or LCD X 2021?

If you have to mix in headphones, these might be perfect because it seems like the forward sound placement might preserve your hearing a little more. What do you guys think?
I've been using the focal listen pros to track and reference mixes, and I'm already impressed by their sound. Can't believe how these would sound. Also good luck to everyone!
Well, I love Focal products, I haven't test those one and compare to my less expensive lovely Audeze LCD-2 Classic, but I tend to think that Sonarworks make great serious review and they write about those headphones : "The problem with Clear is Elear, a headphone half the price and 2 times the performance. If Clear was supposed to be an improvement on the Elear, then Focal needs to go back to the drawing board."
But MG is a new 2021 revision of the Clear ? Maybe they are way better. This sonarworks review is from 2019 ... But if Elear is very similar and three time less expensive, it's a problem...

Colt, you sold me at 6:58..... TAKE MY MONEY! I'm using Sennheiser HD700's with a JD Labs DAC/Amp... worth upgrading? Also, what are your thoughts on plugins like the Waves NX Plugin for those that don't quite go into these price points? Any comparison?

I've got two pairs of them and they both were kinda broken - the left driver was louder (especially in bass range) than the right one. I loved the sound though. I'm just gonna wait for a pair that's not broken.
I absolutely love mixing on headphones as a personal preference. Are the muffs super comfortable? They look cloth so I assume they would be.

Because as it stands right now (after listening and comparing for over 5 hours)... Well, i'll table it until after a fresh re-analysis (for the sake of posterity).

I'd put good money on Slate VSX being a better buy for mixing and mastering. I'll never go back to regular headphones, speaking personally. Having several virtual world class studio rooms along with popular headphones and even cars, all a click away.. I'm doubtful that can be beat by a simple headphone.

Mixing in starbucks with open-back headphones?
Good review but anytime someone does not mentioned anything negative you start to question. You did not mention the limited sound stage that this headphones have. The Beyerdynamic 1990's have improved sound stage and Sennheiser 800s sound stage blows the Clears out of the water. The top end on the Clears lack a crystal clean sound and are a little dull. I had to increase the treble on my pre amp to get the high end to sound more open. Other than that the build quality and sound is very good.
If I win them i'll definitely make a video mixing with them. I'll mix the same song, once with my kali lp6 and once with these.
I'm curious if I can get a better mix with them, I'm very interested.
I just dropped like $500 on some Shure SRH1840s and I've been a bit disappointed with them. I honestly can't tell any difference between them and the $100 Shure headphones I was using before, so I've been considering returning them. So this giveaway was timed perfectly👍 good luck to everybody else, but I hope I win😂

I’m glad these work for you. It’s hard to find “bad” cans in the $1400 range. But I will admit that I got their $300 pair (still not cheap for cans) and was really disappointed. It had a weird frequency response and even Sonarworks didn’t fix it because it required so much EQ, it caused phase noise. It kinda put me off of the brand to be honest.
I’m sorry you had that experience, to be perfectly transparent I don’t have any experience with any of their other headphones. Although I’ve Worked on several different pairs of their monitors. I can assure you this is not just a sales pitch. If I didn’t think they were unbelievable I would have not made this video. Thanks for watching!

I got these Focal Clear MG Pro. They sound amazing, but comparing with the Audeze 500, the Audeze sounds more flat and analytical.
Be that as it may, I love my Focal Clear MG Pro.
I’m trying to decide between Audeze MM500 and Focal Clear MG Pro. I can get the clear pros on discount thru GC for $1125 right now, but I’ve been hearing a lot of great things about the MM500s. Would you say the MM500’s are $500 “better” than the Clear Pro? I know there’s really no “best”, but if price weren’t a factor, which would you choose? Fwiw, I bought (and prefer) the Focal Radiance over the Audeze LCD XC for my go-to closed back cans. Currently looking for a high end complimentary set of open backs 😁

I've send the HEDDPhones back because I wasn't very impressed by them. They sounded to boring and flat to me and I couldn't mix on them well.. especially leveling was difficult to me even with can opener Plugin. I'm wondering if the Focal Clear MG Pro are better to me

That's because is complete bullshit. A placebo effect. Headphone burn in is a myth people tell themselves to justify their expenses. Also they gotten used to the sound. Very few people tested this and those that have found out that it makes no difference. These reviewers need to stop these mental masturbations.

Imo these sound too good to mix on. I had them for about a year and am now selling them due to poor mix translation. Now checking out the Audeze MM-500!
