Love the videos. The windscreen wiper was very relatable . Used to own a fourtrak . Worst rain storm you could imagine on the m1 . And my wiper flips off like yours! Had to co a couple of miles practically blind !
Great video. Just one point, I checked with Lof before fitting my flywheel and powerspec clutch. They do not recommend soaking the bush in oil, they said to just use the grease they provide as per guide. They said soaking the bush in oil can cause the bush to slip in the fly wheel. Cheers

Just watched your video and the one from Juice Motors back to back. I think a LOF Clutch is definitely on my wishlist for now. With the transfer box working a little harder, you should consider one of those finned high capacity transfer box covers. Hard to quantify exactly how much cooler the transfer box runs, but the physics of more oil and better cooling makes perfect sense. Great video, can't wait for the next one.

Just fitted a power spec Loftclutch and single mass flywheel. Good gear highlgly recommend it.

My Discovery 2 is going to the mechanic on Tuesday to have the same clutch fitted after probably 9-12 months of slipping! Looking forward to seeing the difference!
Galv chassis build would be great, keep the td5 solid for another 300,000km+! Keep the videos coming saving for one of these clutch kits for when my puma gets remapped. :)

Put the same clutch transfer box in my 110sw last month.
I had it mapped by Alive tuning, it knocked 4 seconds off getting to 60mph, well happy.
Impressive! I look forward to experiencing the difference it makes once it's run in.
Transfer case Sump cooler, nice upgrade worth considering.
I have the ashcroft transfer box that uses the disco ratios, it really makes a difference when cruising. Good upgrade for defenders. Mine is also tuned too, it may have a stage one tune i think. Just to help iron things out. ( all this was done before i bought it)
Did you know that 80% of all Landrovers ever made are still on the road? The rest made it home
Bulkhead outriggers always go as the drain holes wernt big enough. They are available as a weld on unit so no worries 👍

got a disco transfer box on my td5 defender is grate on those long stretches of road now just got to find someone to send me a vnt turbo and get a stage 3 tune
Great job! I've switched from a Defender to a Land Cruiser 100 series a bit more than a year ago, but I always miss the Defender (not that particular one though:D) when watching your videos. It was so easy (and cheap) wrenching on it compared to the Toyota. Although I kind of enjoy that there are 10k km's spent without wrenching & in relative silence and peace, no water in the cabin, controlled temperature, etc:D But still.. I wish I had a 90.
That's why we couldn't have Land Cruisers on the channel, there'd never be anything to do 😄

my main gripe with 100... torsion bar ifs front. unless you got the 105... which has the non turbocharged 1hz... PFTTTT
What was the issue with the starting, I've just done the same kit and it wouldn't start, I realised that I'd accidentally pulled the ECU connectors out as I'd put the box on
Great job guys. Assume the D2 gear box will work ok with the storm tuning ?? Does it still have a low box switch ??

Just about to do my transfer box! Was going to go for the 1.2 gearing but insurance said it was a mid they couldn’t accept 😑 silly really! So I’ll just have to cure it’s leaks instead
Wow that's strange! Seems like one of the more "sensible" mods you can do.
So a year and half on from making this Vid, would you say you still enjoying the mods? Also have you noticed a big difference in fuel consumption? Some have started a 10-15% decrease. Can you give us your honest opinion on this? I am busy doing my 110 County. Done the intercooler and remap. Next is the clutch kit and transfer box with new Vortex exhaust. So looking at above 200BHP. Ive improved handling with slightly lowered suspension, poly bushes and heavy duty anti-roll bars front and back.
well i have the same problem after changing the clutch on my defender td5 and the fuel pump wont come on wat was ur mistake problem

Hi guys, great video. I've got a ex mod defender 110 built 1986 with NA2.5 diesel engine. After seeing your video im now thinking of changing the gear ratio in the transfer box. what do you think?
Depends what you use it for primarily - Lots of off-roading and towing then probably best to leave it, but if you mostly do on-road driving/long journeys then changing the ratio could be worthwhile 🙂
Put a disco transfer box on my 200 great on road but made first gear to long for off-roading

Don't have a rev counter unfortunately so I don't know. I suppose we could hook up the Nanocom and find out 🙂

sorry for the multiple comments, but i am posting as i am seeing it...You will need to get the Speed healer, to correct the speedo. I was at 2500rpm ish at 120kph. You will probably be 2650rpm at the same speed as you are running a stock R380, while i swapped the 5th gear to a 0.735
Speedo drive is on the output shaft of the lt230. so the speedo wont change with a different transferbox ratio.
Rick z i had to when i swapped to a 1.211 and again when i swapped my gearbox from a R380 to Mt82 with 1.1 TC ratio change.

The beauty of the defender is mainly, it is simple and over engineered, wich makes those cars easy to service and they do take a lot of beating!
