I really admire the way Peter Watkins makes such a point of keeping his integrity - a really laudable action. I have watched La Commune - the 6 hour version. It is a masterpiece - a beautiful creation and re-creation about a period in history that has stayed buried for too long. Bravo Peter Watkins.
Mr. Watkins in his speech again makes amalgamation of different sectors of economy. Before talking on those subjects he should take some courses in appropriate universities. Diversifying a company's assets does not imply that the mother company dictates the subsidiary way of communicating or promoting its products. Lagardère is certainly a right wing company, but Le Monde is way on the Left as well as l'Humanité which is communist geared! Moreover M. Watkins should not forget that he began to work in what is a mass media sector by excellence: Advertising! All this reminds me of the May 68 riots at the Cannes Festival where people like him were shouting and promoting revolutions and who today are among the bourgeois elite they were condemning at that time and profiting of a system they considered at that time rotten and dictatorial; some decency could be expecting before spitting in the soup as we say in French!
