| Ekaterinburg, Russia, June 20, 2019 - USA defeated Thailand in three sets in their last match in Ekaterinburg on Thursday.
Thailand head coach Danai Sriwacharamaytakul said: "Today we were confronted by a very organized team. The defence, unit and attack of the US team were very strong. We need to learn from such matches in order to finally defeat rivals of this level. Our next goal after the Volleyball Nations League is the selection for the Olympics in Tokyo. Our group is difficult, we will be opposed by such teams as Serbia and Poland."
USA capitan Jordan Larson said: "We analyzed the style of the Thai national team and played well against them on the block. This component played an important role in today's victory. Now it is important for us to perform well in the Finals of the VNL. To show our best volleyball, we need to be well prepared for games in China, both physically and psychologically."

@@markuse3472 not really. Skill is highly required too. If it's only height, then most European teams would be on top of the leader board. But only some of them are.

I love the Thai players. They have fast, strong hitters but their height is no match to the much taller, quicker and younger US team.
Thailand definitely has the advantage and can rise to the top with the experience players the team has. only problem is, other majority teams have the height which puts the Thai's to their biggest disadvantages! However, aside from physical attributes, the Thai's play one of the most great volleyball ever. Hands down! THEIR DEFENSE IS GOLD!

I'm from Indonesia, and I admit that Thailand is one of strongest team in Asia. Even they could beat china korea and japan.

@@watcha7435 volleyball has nothing to do with the geographical case of Turkey or cultural. They belong to the European federatiom of volleyball. Go check FIVB if you want. They don't belong in AVC (asian federation). So no, Turkey doesn't count as Asian in VB.

It is going to be VERY VERY difficult. The Philippines needs to qualify to challenger cup. For Asian zone 2019 challenger cup Taiwan was selected from their ranking. When qualified in Challenger cup they need to beat all the other countries in the Challenger cup. I will be waiting though that one day the Philippines will join along side with Thailand.

USA should include Kathryn Plummer and Jordan Thompson in the national team. Plummer is a good replacement for larson or hill once they retire. Thompson reserved opposite for Drews.

Lowe is a very good opposite. But clearly Drews is better. Drews hits the ball with way more authority, and terminates the points way more often. Against a small blocking team like Thailand, Lowe should have been having a field day.

Dont be cocky USA. You only won because youre tall. The fact that Thailand can fight for a long rally says that they are tougher than you are. Sometimes you win because the ball bounced that way.

It's really hard to beat a team that has jack of all trades kind of players. U.S members just have that.
USA is naturally powerful but they learned more fast game which we are usually observed by how japan and thailand play..

Last Match. I think Thai players had no energies left after 5 weeks competition. Last match they played more relaxingly with no serious. This was not the best team of Thailand because 4 main players have been injured like Thatdao, Hattaya, Pimpichaya & Pornpan. That was why they had to use senior players. Anyway, Good luck for Olympic Qualification. I hope Thai team could make it to Olympic.
