Veryde My comment is going to be very late, but for the odd chance that someone responds I think it is worth to get my thoughts out there. I normally don’t like repeating things. Being replaying games, or rewatching movies. So I only played the first game once. I got this game soon after release, played it, and soon forgot about it. Only recently did I revisit it, and platinum it. Which means I’ve played D2 a total of 4 times. So I’d like to think I have some experience and knowledge, though my ignorance of the first hurts me. Dishonored 2 is a great game, except it’s too similar to the first in my opinion. There aren’t many innovations, or completely knew mechanics. I can’t say if that would hurt the final product, but it makes it feel like an advanced copy of the first game.
@@RCobra17isMyName My comment is also late my friend but hey ill share my thoughts as you did.Your experiene in D2 clrearly shows on your comment. Im quite the opposite than yourself yet we make the same conclusion. Ive played Dishonored 1 more than 8 times for sure for me its a fantastic game. After D2's rough release i finally managed to play it and after i finished it 2 times one lethal and non lethal i stopped. I wont say it was bad i can even say it was good but i was left with one wierd feeling. It was TOO similar to Dishonored 1 , yes with some new mechanics but even the story and the boat and they way you approached the missions, the role of each character everything felt like i was playing Dishonored 1 with a less motivating story. In my opinion thats exactly what hurt the final product. Because the feeling of something original is always stronger. Even some of the many small changes on the mechanics or movement where kinda bad and made it feel clunky. For me Dishonored 2 should have been a complete different story. Different characters having a different missfortune and being "Dishonored" and with the outsiders games and all the magic a completely new story should have been developed. Final verdict : for me D2 felt like extra 2-3 extra missions in Dishonored 1 to continue a little story with little impact but these missions had better graphics. It was like watching a FANTASTIC movie and then watching the sequel which is very very similar but a little worse, it makes it a bit of a disappointment for me. (im not talking shit D2 probably touched you better and drived you i completely understand).
I wanted to add something but the comment was getting to big if someone doesnt care. The plot in roleplay games like this its the most important thing. In D1 you had the plague , the murder of a betrayed empress/love of your life, got blamed for the murder which makes you DISHONORED (in the second game there is no actual dishonor moment) , you get resqued and take down an empire with a rebbel organisation, getting revenge and saving the empresses daughter (which deep down we all new was your daughter), get betrayed yourself by your team and facing the secret assasin organisation created by the empresses killer Daud , and after that you try and resque what good is left in from the Rebbel team along with taking Emily back again and stoping the new tryrant leaders. And if you play the DLC's of D1 the story gets even deeper.
Dishonored is and always will be my favorite fantasy universe, despite it only had 3 games, which the 3rd is only just a standalone. Considered 'DLC'. I loved these games so much...the artstyle, architecture, the characters, the music...the whole dark and sinister aspect of the game. Everyone has their story....I just can't get enough from this Universe. Which Is WHY I wish they expanded it so much more...There are comics, books, short movies, etc. For sure...they try. But it's not enough. So much hasn't been explored, so much of the origin of things hasn't been touched. Death of the Outsider answers questions, but leaves ust with so many new ones. For what I know is that Death of the Outsider is the lesser of the 3..but for me it's not. It's my favorite in the series because of how dark it is and how deep you dive into the Void's mysteries. I'm also really interested in Lurk's story. Even though Daud is fan's favorite, I love him, but Lurk is personally mine. But it's a double edged sword, because It's also my most disliked game of Dishonored...it's just too short, too fast. The buildup, the tensness was just too rushed. I love it that Arkane explored more about what happens in the Void, the Outsider, about Daud...but it's too much information to be explored for the 'small' game we received. I've played the series over and over again, trying to uncover more about the secrets, but there's just not enough to fill the holes. Reading the books and comics works out, especially "The Veil of Terror" which is set AFTER DotO. But man...there's so much more Arkane could do. I really hope, whenever that is, they release more about this universe. And perhaps it will no longer be under the name of "Dishonored". I hope that long rest was worth it.
Hey man I feel you, DotO is underrated I loved it too, but only after the second time I played it, when I paid more attention to the details of the story and it's setting.
+Azir! May be surprising, but dishonored 2 released a day early here in Whitestone! I adore it. I think that Corvo's my favourite, but Allura says she likes Emily. Lady Kima played through the whole thing guns blazing, being detected left right and centre, I decided to take a more stealthy approach.

I seriously want a game where they explain the Outsider , and his backstory but at the same time I feel that that would srew the game up... :/
Óscar Martins he was sacrificed in the void 4000 years ago by cultists, then he became a god.
I believe they had notes/books in the game that explained bits of it. In DotO they explain it more. He was an orphan in an ancient civilization, kidnapped and caged by cultists, then under a "blighted tree" sat a stone altar to which they tied him down on it, forced him to wear brass rings (which you can see on his hands in game) and eventually stabbed him in the neck with the twin bladed knife, killing him, and he then awoke in the void as a god.
