You’re onto something Vivian! I used to work for a VERY popular waxing company, we had a liquid exfoliant that we pushed SO hard, and, go figure, it was our most expensive product, and our product also balled up and fell off 😉
It’s the product girl. It’s drying up and crumbling off your skin. And the softness you feel afterwards is also the hydrating affects of the product. If you put lotion on your skin it immediately feels hydrated, it isn’t hydrated, but it FEELS hydrated. The thought process behind it is that the rubbing and scrubbing on the skin WITH the product is very gently exfoliating. But they are definitely making you THINK it’s more exfoliating than it actually is.
I exfoliate my skin with 2 washes a shower. It’s pretty much the same process as these products but better, wash your hair first while your skin softens with the warm water, then wash with a loofah or washcloths gently, then shave (which is also an exfoliant) then use your sugar scrub, scrub brush or exfoliating mitten. If you have gentle skin I do not recommend and ask your doctor. But I ALWAYS recommend using at least a loofah. Then after your shower pat dry, and use a small amount of skin oil, like baby oil(or expensive stuff but I use baby oil, a few drops), or even mix it in with your lotion. I recommend this twice a week. The market has greatly conformed us to believe that we need super pricy products to have great skin. We don’t. Find what works for your skin and run with it. Just follow the main pointers like not exfoliating too often, pat dry, moisturize, and protect with spf. Everything else is pretty much marketing, they justify it by combining products, but at the prices they offer it for, I’d rather just do it all myself ☺️

Be extremely careful when using bath oil beads. Tub can get very slippery and dangerous
True story. I once got slippery trapped in my bathtub. Finally slithered out like a snake over the edge, and flopped onto the floor. I was exhausted and way too amused.
Omg yes, they were very popular in the 70 and 80s in a long tube with about 6 or 8 oil beads in it. They were a death trap waiting to happen🤣
For blood stains, I have always used peroxide. My kids get chronic nose bleeds and their dad did to when he was younger and its s trick his mother gave me. It works great.
I've been using that for my kids bedding...chronic nose bleeds and it has not been working lately. I'm not sure if maybe the costco stuff is not as strong? But not having luck with it

Could be a waxy component that "pills" making you think you are removing more dead skin. There was some sort of dead sea product that did that and decades ago dr scholls had 1
I remember those bath beads,they were deadly not only did they leave your skin feeling like an oil slick,but try getting out of the bathtub I remember nearly killing myself the tub was like slippery!

Bath oil beads! VERY nostalgic for me as well. I used to love using those when I was a kid... waiting for them to get soft so I could squish them and let the oil out... playing with the leftover goop of the oil bead "skin". I'm 65 now, so they've been around forever! Brings back memories! 😊

Those bath oil beads are a real blast from the past. They had those when I was a kid in the 60’s. They took forever to melt in the tub, but eventually they did.
I do that ice on the face thing like everyday. But I’ve always made my own in the little popsicle maker. I’m going to have to get me the flower one. Now maybe my grandkids will stop stealing my face pops thinking they’re ice pops and then giving me dirty looks once they taste them! 🤣🤣
Ohmygosh!!! The bath oil beads!! 😂 my parents were dropping me off at my grandmas to spend the night, not sure what age i was, but I was little! Gma had always had this display of green grapes and foilage laying on the counter in the bathroom. So i had to go to the bathroom and while i was in there, i decided to have a grape! I pulled one off the stem, rolled it around in my hand then .. chomp! Ohhh barfff!!! It's soap!!!! Blehhhh! I quickly wrapped it in some tissue and put it in the trash. Marched to the front room and told my parents i changed my mind about staying overnight and I was ready to go home (with my belly ache!)! 😂 Oh what memories!!

Back in the day we had a product called Pretty feet that instantly peeled off the dead scaly skin. Whole family used. We have dry scaly heels so we need .THANK YOU! On way to find now.
Pretty feet is sold on Amazon, at least it was a few years ago. I’ve used it on my elbows and it peels off like the product Vivan tried.
Back in the early 2000's Avon used to have a skin peeling lotion that I absolutely LOVED because it really worked. I can't find anything like it now. So sad!
I use to use that pretty face and hands all the time and then I couldn't find it any more.

It's Pretty Feet in a spray bottle. Used to be a cream that did the same thing.
It's called pretty hands and feet..its a lotion and you can still buy it.

Blend some cucumbers and papaya and add it to your water and add mint! For the ice facial! Cucumber and papaya have brightening enzymes in them and the mint helps with trouble spots!

wow. They didn't work for me. Did I get old product? idk but they didn't remove or even fade the stain.

Bought that tanner yesterday. It works. Put it on after shower last night. Woke up to tanner skin. Does have that tanner smell but it’s better than others I’ve tried.

For the foot scrub, products like those, have an ingredient that clumps as dries while you rub, making you think that's all skin coming off but it's not, it's just the product clumping and falling off. These products have been around forever. There's no ingredient that will shed your skin that fast unless you're rubbing clinical grade acid on your skin but then you'd suffer chemical burns.
I'm no chemist. I suspected there is something in that stuff to make it appear like dead skin is immediately is falling off. Not doing that. I'm terrified. 😄
I think the ingredient might be cellulose fibers in some cases, but yes, you're right. Total gimmick.
Edit: I did more research. It's most likely either cellulose or carbomer listed as the ingredient. Those ingredients lead to the pilling action, which is accelerated by the oils on the skin. Some dead skin may also come off--as with any rubbing of the skin-- but only very small amounts...not what people are being lead to believe is balling up and falling off.
Like when kids let Elmer's Glue dry on their hands and then rub them together.
Inthe early 2000's Avon had a peeling lotion that actually DID work. I used to use it & the calluses rubbed off instantly. It was a sloughing lotion. Sadly, I can't find anything like it now.

Oh my goodness I used the oil beads all the time in the 90's. I loved them.
What I think is cool is taking those ice packs and freezing the essence that you can buy in bottles it’s the same essence that’s in facemasks but you can add that to the water and it melts on your face and you apply your facemask that way. It looks really cool when they do that.

That foot spray seems to work similarly to Avon’s “Fancy Feet”. It does the same thing, instantly. LOVE.
The best I have found for exfoliation are the hamman mitts on Amazon. They REALLY work, you literally see all of the dead skin coming off, and you don't need to use product on the mitt, just water in the shower. I even use it on my face, not every time (it's pretty intense at first) I wash my face but like every couple weeks or when I feel I need to exfoliate. I put face wash on the mitt, gently rub in circles all over, rinse, and then wash my face once or twice more without the mitt. My face feels amazing. I use it all over my body as well, after when I wash. ❤

I love the tea tree foot spray!! it is a miracle product, I am on my second bottle. It is so amazing how it balls up the dry crusty skin on my heels and leaves soft silky skin. wonderful product

I bought and tried that tea tree foot peeling spray and you’re not imagining it. It does work!! It worked amazingly well on my elbows and heels. Baby soft elbows and feet now in just a few minutes. It’s some kind of wizardry 😂😂❤️

I have used the Stain Devils for decades. The oil one works so well. I generally use that one and Dawn foam stuff for stains.

When we used the oil balls you had to toss them into the warm running water and they would melt.
Even if Vivian wasn't a dentist I'd still listen to her recommendations 😂 Its almost spring so I'm most definitely gonna get the spray and get my feet soft n beautiful n flip flop ready. The big azz tumbler is a MUST because it'll hold a considerable amount of ice cubes..you couldn't pay me to drink water without ice! Speaking of ice, the facial roller is gimmicky & cute but I've been rolling ice on my face for years now and I take a cube and hold it with an infant washcloth - it's perfect!

I remember the bath balls from the 80s they used 2 come in like gift baskets they also had the little square thing it was kinda like bath salt but u could rub the square on u it would get the dead skin off I used it for my feet they also smelled amazing
