    In the end of me doing this, my push rod decided to reconnect right when I was about to take the master cylinder out. This obviously caused confusion and I kept going over this video to see if I had missed anything. I spent hours looking around and rewatching this video trying to figure it out. A great, educational video however. Keep it up.

    Thanks for this great video, I was only trying to figure how to install the clutch starter switch, this video showed me more than I was expecting, thanks again.

    Thank you, I was wondering how to get that pin out. Taking the whole line out worked perfectly.

    I wish I could have seen the removing, replacing and installment no matter how insignificant the part may be, it would have been much better to see its entire process. So now I have to go and find another video. I am not even a mechanic but the bush mechanics here have different opinions on why my truck don't start, so I found you. All good by the way...

      The master cylinder locks with a half a turn there's a square that goes in it and then you turn it but mine don't work right it's not even the same as the last one

    Thanks for your attempts to show anything. Filming the inside of the car under the hood doesn't help one bit, but appreciate your input as to the steps you went through to replace it. How in the world the quick disconnect for the clutch pedal "disconnects" from itself would be the most helpful portion if you would have explained it in the video, but the only thing mentioned was "disconnect the switch located on the clutch pedal". That in itself is the worst part of the whole ordeal so far. I've had flashlights under there and I'm ready to simply snip the terminals for the switch and then reattach them with wire nuts after this ordeal!

    • @RonaldDaub
      @RonaldDaub 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The switch is junk after you remove it anyway I did the same thing and it works fine

    • @RonaldDaub

      I had my master cylinder in perfect but I had to remove it to put the stupid line on it and now it's all screwed up and it don't want to line up and when it does the master cylinder is upside down or leaning I'll figure it out but this is the worst engineered piece of s***

    The square on mine is turn 30° the one I bought is straight up and down and it still won't lock in place after I had to take it out once
    . Another question is why won't that stupid plug-in at the bottom snap like it's supposed to is the female part wore out?

  • @omyajt
    @omyajt 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very helpful! My clutch won't budge. Just locked in place. I had replaced the slaved cylinder a few years ago with a clutch change. So hopefully this is the problem. Maybe I'll unhook the line first to see if I can then push the clutch. If I can than it's the slaved cylinder or something inside the bell housing.

    When you bleed the upper part of the system did you have the front of the master as the highest point so the air isn't trapped? And was the pedal just in the up position?

  • @RonaldDaub

    Q. I have a 1995 s10 chevy.4cyner. 5speed. Cluth is going bad. I removed air from it. That helped alittle. The master cylinder is good! Ok.....does this truck have a slave master cylinder?? If so I can't find it. Could it be the release bearing which is in the tranmission. And for the first time today I noticed it leaking where the transmission bolts up to the engine

    • @CliffsHowTo
      @CliffsHowTo  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m not too terribly familiar with the first gen s10, but it does have a master and a slave. I’m not sure if the slave is inside or outside of the bellhousing on your truck.
      My truck, it was inside the bellhousing. If it’s outside, you will see it. Follow the clutch lines. If the lines go inside the bellhousing, then that’s where it is.

    I have a 1994 S-10. I am not sure how to get the line off, as I do not think it is the slave cylinder thats bad, because I found that the line itself had a hole in it down below on the passneger side after I removed the plate by the slave cylinder. Anyways....I really just need to know how to disconnect the lines from up above and below. Is there a pin I need to remove, or does it need a special tool on that year? Thanks, any help is appreciated.

    Dumb question: What is the hose running top to bottom on the right side of this video (with the whitish plastic connector at the bottom)? Mine is completely shredded and hanging loose and I can't figure out where it's supposed to go (so many problems with the truck I'm not sure which one it might be causing). I'd appreciate any help you can give!

    • @Jon.Rushing
      @Jon.Rushing 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The white thing is a check valve and that hose goes to the vacuum reservoir in the drivers side fender. you need the vacuum to control your air conditioning and heat controls. My hose had cracked so i replaced the whole thing. If that hose or any vacuum hose is leaking the engine will run lean. It can be a pain to get the hose hooked back up to the reservoir though.

    Hi, nice video, but how you bleed the system?

    • @CliffsHowTo
      @CliffsHowTo  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Gustavo Henrique Ribeiro you can actually pre-bleed the upper part of the system before reconnecting it.
      You do this by adding fluid, then having someone push and hold the clutch pedal, and push in the center "circle" on the quick disconnect fitting that snaps into the slave cylinder.

    • @marteloficina
      @marteloficina 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      but how you avoid the air mix with oil? And if you add the new oil, how to avoid the old oil will mix with the new oil?

    • @CliffsHowTo
      @CliffsHowTo  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not really sure what you are asking... I bled the clutch system this way on my corvette, and had no issues. Sure, some of the old fluid would still be in the slave cylinder, but the object of this video is not to flush all of the fluid, the objective is to change the master cylinder.
      If you bleed it like I described, there will be no air when you are finished.
