My first idea was to measure with dental floss. Glad to find this video, and the 6% info. Enough for friction, not enough to bind up the pully on the shaft.
That said, what the heck am I seeing when you move your left hand at 18 seconds in?
What you are seeing at 18 seconds in, is a glitch in the matrix 😂. But seriously it’s a filter that we use to make 2 video clips flow into each other rather than having a full on cut from one clip to the other. I’m sure I have not explained this in the best way it could be explained but I hope you understand 👍

Good video. Just curious where the 6% value came from. Was that based on general comparisons between the string length and a known proper band size?
When I was ordering the replacement belts I had some communication back and forth with a British company that specialises in manufacturing replacement drive belts. They advised us about the 6% for the stretch. If my memory serves me well I believe the name of the company was DeckTech UK.
