আমরা বাংলাদেশের বাঙালি'রা,আসলে খুব বেশি প্রগতিশীল হতে পারি নি এখনও। আমরা সংস্কৃতি,চলচ্চিত্র,বই যেটাই বলি না কেন,কিছু একটা আমাদের এখনো বয়ঃপ্রাপ্ত হতে দেয় নি। আমরা শুরুতেই পরে আছি। আমাদের এখানকার চিন্তাবিদ,লেখক কিংবা ছবি যারা বানান, কষ্ট হলেও বলতে হচ্ছে, তাদের চিন্তাভাবনা একটা গণ্ডির মধ্যে আটকে আছে। শুধু ছবি নিয়ে বলতে গেলে,আমরা এখনো বাচ্চা। ভালো ছবি যে এখানে হয় নি,তা নয়। হাতে গোনা হয়েছে কিছু। স্বাধীনতার আগে এখানে জহির রায়হান ছিলেন। বেঁচে থাকলে তিনি ছিনেমাটাকে প্রগতির দিকে অনেক এগিয়ে দিতে পারতেন। তারপর অনেক অনেক বছর পর তারেক মাসুদ আসলেন।আন্তর্জাতিক পর্যায়ে গেলেন। তারপর তিনিও চলে গেলেন। এখন যারা আছেন,ফারুকীকেই অনেকটা প্রগতিশীল মনে হয়। তিনি খুব ভালো কাজ করছেন। মৃণাল সেন ফরিদপুরের ছেলে। কলকাতার প্রগতিশীল সমাজে তিনি ছিনেমাকে কোথায় নিয়ে গেছেন আমরা সবাই জানি। সত্যজিৎ এর সাথে কারো তুলনা করতে হলে মৃণালের নামই নেন সবাই। গৌতম ঘোষ,তার জন্মও ফরিদপুরে। তাই আমাদের আরো প্রগতির পথে যেতে হবে,তাহলে যদি ভালো কিছু হয়।
ফারুকী সাহেবের সাথে আমি একমত হতে পারছি না।হ্যা সেটা ঠিক আমাদের এপারে সত্যজিতের মতন কেউ ছিলেন না।তবে অতটা অনুজ্জ্বলও তো আমাদের অতীত ছিল না।তারেক মাসুদের আগেও এখানে ভালো মুভি হয়েছে।যেমন,জীবন থেকে নেয়া,ঘুড্ডি,দহন,সূচনা,পিচ ঢালা পথ,রংবাজ এর মত অসংখ্য ভালো কাজ আমাদের এখানেও হয়েছে।

Movies like Jibon theke neya has never went to any festivals but has a huge impact to audiences who witnessed it even once....there are at least dozens like the one I mentioned capable of winning prizes at festivals but they were not enough opportunities for the directors to do so...enthusiasts like you will always brag about movies which went to Oscars and festivals and will check reviews and ratings before watching a movie....hilarious
Faruki probably have little or no idea about old Bangladeshi gems... because otherwise who can forget movies like “Jibon theke neya”, “ megher pore megh” and many others ....also makers like Humayun Ahmed(Aguner poroshmoni, shokhoneel karagar) and the golden era of 80s where movies like Sareng Bou etc were made... Probably he is not enough enlightened about Bangladeshi movies of his ancestors.... although it is true that our past was not that glorious to be compared with Kolkata films...but I can not agree with such comment about having no past.... he should research more
You have problem of hearing? Listen to sarwar mostofa’s speech carefully. He mentioned a time , some specific film director’s work, when did some style of film making had started to change.
Khokon Mimi Khan Farouki sir literary said we have no glorious history and also mentioned the fact that some of our actors used to copy styles from Uttam and Sucitra sen....this is quite hilarious from a director of his caliber... being ignorant of previous generations films of own culture and to only point out the inabilities should not be the approach.... and check if he has praised any movies of 70s and 80s from both Kolkata and Bangladeshi industry except ray’s....and the topic was to talk about wow moments of Bengali films...he should not participate any discussion about Bengali films...perhaps he should discuss on Iranian and Turkish movies from where most of his works are inspired or I should rather say copied from....
