  • Hey everyone! Welcome back to the channel! Today, we’re diving deep into the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel It Ends With Us and comparing it to the book. If you’re a fan of the book, you might have noticed that the film adaptation took some creative liberties-and while the movie was visually stunning, I believe the book still holds the crown.
Ryle, for example, is a complex character whose motivations and inner turmoil are more thoroughly explored in the book. The film, unfortunately, oversimplifies his character arc, making him seem more one-dimensional. This change affects the depth of his relationship with Lily and the overall emotional impact of the story.
Younger Lily-the flashbacks to her earlier life-are significantly reduced in the movie. These scenes are crucial in understanding the foundation of her character and the decisions she makes as an adult. The film’s omission of these flashbacks makes it harder to fully grasp the reasons behind her actions and emotions.
Lastly, Atlas-arguably one of the most beloved characters in the book-feels a bit sidelined in the film. His relationship with Lily is central to the narrative, but the film doesn’t fully capture the depth of their connection. The book provides a more nuanced portrayal of Atlas and his impact on Lily’s life, which the movie fails to convey completely.
Overall, while the film adaptation of It Ends With Us offers a visually compelling experience, it doesn’t quite capture the book's full emotional depth and character development. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below-Do you agree with the movie’s portrayal, or do you think the book is superior? Don’t forget to like and subscribe for more content like this!
