I've been away for years and it seems like there have been plenty of updates even including f2p quests and minigames. Interestingly, this stands to be the best money-maker for me if I can get away being lower combat levelled. My bank has been cleaned a little less than two years ago assuming from last login date, so now I must grind for a bond.
If you're smart with how you bank and such, you can make money here. The thing to be careful of, is you have to invest the gp when you get into the course in order to get the rewards.

I had a similar experience but back when I was doing the course, it didn't feel like scout bots. Does it seem out of control now?
