- Argent Metal (aka DOOM game music) is essentially a mix of djent and dubstep, most often attributed to Mick Gordon. In this video we cover everything you need to know to write in this style.

doesnt sound much like argent metal tbh
talks about writing argent metal
plays the most sour fucking take on late 80s thrash lmfao
Bruh, Thrash is mostly in E standard, he played a riff in drop B. Plus, some of the music, especially in 2016 has a faster more thrashy sound compared to the groovy slower stuff in eternal
Oh boy you know shit about music, let alone sound design or mix itself. If this is what an 80's thrash mix sounds like, then im Elon Musk👍
My man, THIS is how you do a tutorial! Super impressed dude. Any chance you could have a look into ideal ways to emulate the super low notes MG uses and do another tutotial on that? such as the guitar/bass in BGF division and The only thing they fear is you..
Thanks for that compliment! Glad to hear the new format is appreciated haha
For emulating the tones, I think the best bet is to watch the MG talk where he talks about how he found the tones. As I said, there's no way I can say it better than he can. You're better off learning from someone that actually knows sound design in that subgenre.
However, if it were me, I'd get an 8 string guitar, and equivalent bass, and then bullshit my way to a result that feels suitable (which means loads of distortion on the guitar and bass, and a synth that fattens out the sound).
@@writemetalmusic ive watched the talk so many times man, i love it to bits. Was moreso curious to if youd run into a vst that can hit those low notes (i cant play guitar if my life depended on it)
@@B.Saiju207 ahh I see now.
I personally can't recommend it is programming guitar or bass midi to be human is way harder for me than to just play it in. Doesn't mean it isn't possible, and I'm sure you can find examples of it being done well. But it would be incredibly hard for me explain and demonstrate it.
The think that helped me most with drum midi was variations in performance and dynamics. If you think through how a drummer might drum this section, like where they might be loose on timing, or play softer or harder than the next note, you end up sounding far less stale. But attempting that on guitar vst seems way more difficult than learning the passage.
@@writemetalmusic been experimenting, electric mint stacked with a few different presets sounds really awesome!
@@B.Saiju207 oh nice! I think what's more important than getting the 'perfect' sound, is to find a sound that inspires you. Glad you've found that, thanks for checking back in!
Hey man great video, probably one the most in depth argent metal tutorials ive seen!
Glad you liked it!
