You got that + him standing within 5 feet of the spawn location for literally an hour and a half ranting, stalling and exaniming every. Single. Item and object In the entire house you start in. His views blew up because he click baited and basically claimed he was playing the new 60fps patch that was being released the next day. When in fact he just turned on the 60fps low res option on his Xbox.

I don't think I ever thought this way before, after watching Castlevania season 1 on Netflix I just looked into the lore on youtube and replayed symphony of the night. Not a single time did the idea of wanting to "consume more product" crossed my mind. I think this has to be a worse way of living genuinely if you think less of enjoyment and rather than swallow your food without chewing it.

There are eight (nine if you include Fallout shelter) games to play, a tabletop RPG to check out, a whole Fallout Bible, a bunch of design documents from the cancelled Van Buren game, and a ton of mods to play. Fallout doesn't need new content to be "consumed" because there is already so much content out there to "consume". My favorite part of the fallout is the lore. I played the OG first 2 for the story and lore. But I especially love the lore of all the vaults because each are unique and robust.

I write analysis essays/ make forum posts on film and anime for fun, i genuinely enjoy writing them, diving into the lore, dissecting themes etc.
It's just sad that phil will never have the media literacy, nor the passion to enage with media like that. He takes everything at face value, he will never be able to read subtext or artistic intention. Its a sad reality to not be able to enrich yourself with media you are passionate about. Thats why he hates those people who nerd out on media
It kind of surprises me how little he latches onto anything. He strikes me as a bit on the spectrum but he have any special interests or passions like a lot of people who are similar, myself included.

Don't have much to say about DSP in this one. He just changes his opinion whenever it suits him.
As for lore stuff: My problem with a lot of lore channels is often that they don't make a good distinction between what's there and what's interpretation. Dark Souls (and other FromSoft titles as well) leave out information on purpose, because you are supposed to draw your own conclusions on the limited information that you have. That's also why it's not always necessary to find EVERY piece of information, because the point is to come to your own conclusions anyway. The main way I often see this problem is when creators try say what the "good" or "bad" ending of the respective game even is. However, they often just arrive at the ending, that is the hardest to reach as if that decides whether an ending is good or bad. And I just think that is a bit short sighted.
I also personally don't think you can't be a fan if you are not that interested in the lore. Everyone can be a fan of a different thing. Like, would you say that you are not a fan of the game if you never made a true magic build? After all, it's a very important part of the game so everyone who doesn't care enough to go through the game once only using magic is not a true fan.
But I agree that DSP's take on the whole thing is still the worst. People shouldn't be called out for pointing out inconsistencies. Even if I don't care about them, these people obviously are. And it's a fair criticism. Doesn't mean you now have to think the show is bad because of it, but you can acknowledge that they took liberties here and there. I mean, if the show was only watchable in German for example, some people might not watch it for that reason alone. And that's also a fair point.

Holy shit Phil, THERE ARE EXPLAINATIONS FOR THE LORE ISSUES.
1. Shady Sands is a tiny shanty town in Fallout 2, perfectly incapable of holding a population of 35,000 they say it has in Fallout: New Vegas. Todd Howard needed to make an ASTHETIC retcon to explain where all those people could possibly be living. Take a look at Shady Sands in Fallout 1 and 2. The place has maybe about 14 buildings, no taller than a single floor and maybe basements. A shanty town, perfectly capable of being relocated. Todd Howard attempted to fix a discrepancy Black Isle Studios made in Fallout 1 and 2 and tried to make Black Isle's logic make sense.
2. Shady Sands "fell" in the year 2277, when it was stated in New Vegas it was "thriving." Shady Sands didn't fall because of the nuke. The date the nuke fell on it was never told to us. The date given was for Shady Sands "falling" and an arrow pointed to a mushroom cloud with no date below it. The place was likely taken over by raiders and the NCR reclaimed it shortly after, close call, and then went back to thriving. We don't know the nature yet of the fall of Shady Sands.
3. New Vegas has no lights and looks like it's walls are partially knocked down. Guess what Phil, the show takes place 15 years after New Vegas, and the show is going there in Season 2. Methinks maybe we'll - GASP - FIND OUT WHY. Anything could fucking happen in 15 years!
4. The Prydwen showing up back in California for the show, meaning only 2 of the 4 endings of Fallout can happen. Um, not necessarily. The Brotherhood of Steel is in possession of more than 1 airship, according to one of the earlier Fallout games, where we saw a bunch in a cutscene. Parts could have been salvaged from one ship to repair the Prydwen, or, it was a lost cause and the west coast Brotherhood just renamed a different airship with the "Prydwen" designation, maybe "Prydwen 2 or Prydwen Mk. 2. Either of those could also make the Institute or Railroad endings possible.
5. Of course Vault-Tec started the war. They had experiments they wanted to conduct on people in the vaults. After America reclaimed the Alaskan pipeline, there was no indication that any further wars were going to break out, which means Vault-Tec had to intervene and start one to get people into their vaults. Why? Because VT was going to torture most dwellers in their vaults, so they're pretty fucking evil. They certainly could be that petty, to destroy the world to make their experiments happen.
Doesn't follow trends or hop on bandwagons but look dood this new Fallout show is pretty popular time to play Fallgout 4 again! It will save the business for sure!🐷😂

People have been obsessing over details in fictional stories since the beginning of time. There are tons of academics who take fiction very seriously and have spent their lives discussing minutes of like opera or Victorian era novels, just to give two examples.

For all my fellow pc style gamers who want to play 3 and NV a tail of two wastelands is probably the best way to do it. It combines both games in the NV engine, so it has less bugs. Unfortunately the unlimited durability power armer is one of the bugs they fix :(
