That's right, the boy is back to Gunlance.
I spent AGES trying to use Wide 7 on this guy, I really did, but we ended up plateauing at around 4:20 or so, and I really wanted to get a sub 4. So we switched to Normal and just blew this thing out of the water.
There's really no real strategy aside from unga bunga Full Burst and a slight delay to some attacks, but the main thing here is that due to the sheer amount of times that Ruiner roars, Earplugs is an INCREDIBLY good choice here. I've seen Plugs 4 be used in some cases to reduce the roar stagger also, so give that a shot, as long as everything else is damage then you good.

Yo hit "Day of ruin" or search the event quest with teostra picked. Never got my attack 4 again but I got everything I needed to build without them

Its actually from Final Fantasy 14, one of the combat themes of a major story fight during the Heavensward expansion from what I can tell based on my memory. Good choice indeed.

It’s a ice born thing where you can load your slinger amo into your gun lance and then you can stick a special attachment to the monster in which acts as a better thorn pod with shelling. To my understanding
@@C427-n3r I didn't know you could connect that into the unload right after the load until watching this video lol
Why does nerg keep dive bombing way to the side of you? Whenever I watch these speedrunning vids the monster barely moves but when I play they jump around and home in on me like theyre on crack.
He will do certain dive bombs based on damage, and depending on how he raises his arms can tell you whether or not he’ll be going to the side.

Is that normal or wide lance? I’m looking into playing with this weapon but I wanna know what one I should craft for the best of my buck
For full burst playstyle, normal shells are usually better than wide. But if you are looking for a shell poke playstyle then wide is the way to go
And if you just want to play a "meta style" long charged shells build will melt basically every part of the monster you're hunting. Btw in the video he is using normal shells
What makes long better than normal in general?
@@taa347 charging shells, that's long advantage, wyrmstake blast do better damage like this and u can stun or clagger monsters more often
Before this i had no idea you could reload after certain attacks. I beat the whole game only reloading after hops lmao.

Can someone explain me, WHY IN THE HELL nergi always miss the dive after roar on those not moving speed runers and then proceds to hit me when im try to dash alway ????? this dont make any sense 🤣🤣
If you're talking about the one where spikes hit one side and not the other, look at the arms: it will attack the side of the raised arm, not the lower one.
@@aries999oh thats truth, thank you for the tip i would never realize that 😂, but heres a thing in all those moves you tip went right except in 1:16 look like he raised one arm and attaked with both ? I just dont got that one part
@@menega-_9291 it has a different windup in comparison to the other one. If both arms raise up like that after the roar he will do a smash that drops cones of spikes out in front.

How did you sharpen so quickly?
Whetfish fin + ! You can get them from the fishing event that’s on right now, and they sometimes don’t disappear from your inventory! Very good.
Speed Sharpening. Max level reduces the sharpening cycles down to just one.
@@Wotter16 he don't have speed sharp in the build, it's coz he use whetfish fin+ not normal whetstone
Old comment thread but I'm throwing my thoughts here anyway. He is not using speed sharpening because his build is super tight and made for speedruns, for a typical player it's better to run speed sharpening than try to grind for consumable speed sharpening fish. (Maybe it's easy to get a lot. Personally I don't like fishing too much, more like it's fun every now and then.)

Some of your wide sweeps missed due to starting your combo a little further away then ideal. That aside, I applaud you not using the clutch claw and fighting him like a man. Haha ✊🏽
Yeah I really went for shelling being the staggering force here, it’s a messy run but I was looking for sub 4 and I got it! No claw needed 😎
This is exactly why I enjoy this run. Just toe-to-toe with the beast. Blast for claw. Not crutching the clutching.

Does item prolonger serve the same purpose as slinger capacity?
no, item prolonger is there to extend protective polish time from 60 seconds to 90
Ian White to add what Cera said item prolonger also increases the duration of might seed and powder.

How do you shoot all shells at once?
Circle after a slam my man, or B on Xbox. Best to use it with Normal Shelling.

Is Attackboost Not important on the gunlance ?
This is an old run so you can still fit it in with Fatalis armour, but it’s lower priority than other skills like Crit, Artillery, Crit Boost and Magazine etc
This makes me wonder if it would be better with fatalis stuff

It extends protective polish to 90 seconds rather than 60
What gunlance is that?
The Gunlance itself is the blast option from Safi, the Shatterbuster, as shown at the end, and here I’ve layered it to look like Stygian Zinogre’s

I don't understand going for crits when shells cannot crit, overwise amazing display of skill, great job!
A large portion of my combo is melee damage, so investing in crit is definitely worth.
