FINALLY a green p-bass with red pickguard that isn't a multi-thousand dollar custom shop (meaning even I could afford it :D )! Might just need to get one!
You haven’t been looking very hard Sire has done the P5 in green within a tort guard and a roasted maple neck for years and it’s cheaper than this. I know what I’d be getting.
@@southpawjinx1 The sire is definitely not green. I've had the jazz bass version of the same color in it's very very turquoise and not even close to green.
Jet stuff is freaking amazing! I have one of their JS300s, plus have talked several people into buying their stuff. I'm going to end up snagging one of those P basses. Side note: I wondered why I hadn't seen you post in a while, did a search, and found out that I somehow got unsubscribed. I don't know how that happened.
I want Jet to make a Stingray or Shortscale so bad. There's no shortage of decent options for P & Js at an affordable price, but a proper Mustang or Stingray's a little more limited(esp. in the EU/UK Where Sterlings are overpriced, the new Sires are very welcome though the colour selections kinda suck).
A nice looking bass, but the 400 pound price cuts me off completely for a bass made of Poplar. Put 50quid on top and you get a nice Sire p5 with an alder body and more consistent QC.
It seems a pretty good deal with the usual issues of a sub £500 bass, sounds solid either in Mo-Town or barky rock mode. The QC stuff is probably the trade off, for the above average bridge and tuners.. You get your cake, and eat at least half in this case!
I had one of their strat clones and was very impressed by the value for money. I don't need another p bass, but would seriously consider this if I was in the market.

The high pitch whine in the background when playing clean - is that the bass or something else in the chain? Had to skip past, it was brutal on the ears
have to admit I wasn't super impressed until you plugged it into an amp sim - guess my ears aren't as used to comparing full clean P-Basses. Plugged in it sounds, like you say, like a really solid P-Bass
I would agree were it not for Harley Benton's biggest issues... Thomann ships using the worst companies. My last two arrived in pieces. Sometimes they don't arrival at all.

This seems pretty good! Is the neck pocket sized like a standard Fender, so you could in theory swap in a Fender or Fender licensed neck on it?

Idk.. too many options out there for solid p basses and pick up swaps can get you most any sound you need from a p bass under $500.
Would you say the Sire P5R is better or no idea ?
