The best haircut i ever had was when i went to the cosmetology school & told the girl to "do whatever you want just don't chop it all off". She looked at me skeptically & said "Really??" I said "Sure, I just want a change!" Then she got super excited & was really into & it looked FANTASTIC when she was done! Her instructor was kind of worried about me not giving any direction but at the end she told her she did a great job. 💇♀️💜
As far as fellow hairdressers getting mad at you for giving advice, the way I feel about that is that no matter how much advice you give, they’ll never be able to do what you do. They’re just managing with what they can do and you can usually tell the people who cut their own hair. I’m one of them! 🙋🏻♀️🤣 but it’s kind of like trying to follow along with a Bob Ross painting video. It’s all fun and games until you realize you can’t frikin do this and what you just painted looks RIDICULOUS! lol
Omg I absolutely love that mom and her kids! So so sweet and supportive of each other. And the first one had such a great outlook too! Needed this today. Thanks.🥰
That first haircut was cute! Then again she has that kind of hair that always looks styled. I let kids have their own style growing up because there will come a day when they will have to work a straight job and expressing themselves may not be an option. Let your kids find themselves 😊 I love that kid’s haircut. It’s so cute!!
I love how that mom lets her girl decide which hairstyle she wants. I once was talking to a woman who had a 9 year old daughter with hair down to her butt. That girl hated her long hair and had even started hacking the front with crafting scissors herself. Her mom said "she wants her hair cut to a bob because a lot of girls in her school now have that hair cut, but she's a girl, she is supposed to have long her.", I got really mad in that moment. If the girl doesn't feel comfortable and is clearly annoyed by that much hair on her head, why not allow her to have it shorter? I never understood that. My mom always let me decide my hairstyle and length and I am glad she did. When I didn't like the hairstyle on myself, I learned from it. That's how I figured out what I actually liked and what I feel most comfortable with. Let your kids decide more. Many of these choices are not even important. And hair style changes at such a young age really are nothing permanent. Kids wanna explore, they are curious and they should have that freedom. Being a kid should be carefree and fun, not "No, you can't decide anything for yourself until you're grown up.", coz we all know how restricted life can be when we start working and having to be an adult. If a kid isn't allowed to figure out what they like and who they wanna be, how are they supposed to make good choices for themselves when they are older? Think about that!
Very well said Julia. I was surprised that no one noticed this mother was so in tune that she even asked her little girl if she wanted her hair cut like a boy because she felt like a boy or just because she wanted it short. She was so open-minded loving and accepting she was checking in to see if her daughter was expressing some gender confusion. They are very fortunate little girls for that matter they're all very blessed to have each other.
I'm a woman and I've been to the hairdresser twice in my life. I have been cutting and coloring my hair myself since I was a child, including pixie, mohawk, mullet, etc and bright colors. I also cut my entire family's hair. I don't have a lot of money, I don't like it when people fiddle with me and most of all I hate small talk. So I have plenty of reasons not to go to the hairdresser, but my biggest reason is: Why should I let someone else do what I can do myself?! 🙂 Every person is different and I'm sure there are people who love running to the hairdresser every week, but also many who prefer to do it independently. 🙂 Tip: The more often you do it yourself, the better you get at it. 🙂
I'm the same! Don't like the senseless chit chat and I hate seeing myself in a mirror. I cut and color my own and have since I was 18 (I'm 58). The only time I go to a salon is if I want a drastic change then, I'll upkeep it on my own. Stylists (most) deserve what they charge, and I commend them for their creativity and abilities but, living on a budget makes it near impossible. I always chuckle tho when people ask me for my stylists name... 😏
😂😂The same here always cut my childrens hair and my mens hair, son in law . My own hair colouring and cutting short, shoulder lenght ,undercut. And they al think im a hairdresser😊
To go to a hairdresser where I live, I would have to choose not to eat for the week. I agree that the more you cut your own hair, the better you get at it. My sister in law of 10 years only just realised I cut my own hair recently when I said about needing to trim my hair.
@Hair Buddha thank you for your positive, encouraging and educational videos. I discovered you on Facebook and was wonderfully surprised when I found out that you also have a TH-cam channel. My mom was constantly giving me perms when I was a little girl, under 12. Finally I forcefully told her to give me a break! Come to find out I actually had naturally CURLY HAIR! Bwahahahahaha! 😂 Boy did she feel silly 😢. Of course due to all the trauma I straightened my hair in high school. Until I learned to loved it again. 🥰 Thank you Hair Buddha for all you do us and me! I get so many tips from you! ✌
I got a Stevie Nicks perm when I was 13 and the stylist could not figure out why my hair got fried afterward. The owner of the salon could not figure it out, either. Fast forward to me at age 36 with naturally wavy hair! My grandmother, uncle and mom all had some degree of waviness in their hair, but I didn't! Now I'm in my 50s and I have curly wavy hair
Hair Buddha, you're right that it won't change anything with regards to making people go to a salon if they don't want to ... Watching your videos has given me a better appreciation for my hairdresser... I try to tip her better

I like it the choppy".. (or something like that) hahahaha
This was an awesome video friend. Thank you so much for creating and sharing your wonderful content. I hope you have the best day absolutely possible friend.
I think you're not suggesting anyone to avoid hairdressers, the very contrary. We can all see that cutting/colouring at home is difficult and risky. But yes, sometimes in life we just need/try to save money, and your tips are useful. No hairdresser who is good at his/her job can be replaced, so keep on with your very good videos, you also help us appreciate the difference between a good and a bad hairdresser, so we can pick the best one. The last hairdresser burnt my hair with foils and heat, had I watched your videos before I wouldn't let him do it to my hair and now they would be long. I had to chop 3 years of growth and start all over again. Good job Hair Buddha, hugs from Italy! Ciao!
There are so many incompetent hairdressers that drive people do their own hair ,I know what you are talking about ..been there, growing your natural hair so they have a perfect "canvas",you come up with the idea, pictures, say this is the range,if this can't be achieved ,than smth like this ..and you end up with all you didn't want !
@@Chailattefizz yes, I had to cut all the burnt hair, now I have a kind of 80s Mel Gibson's mullet 😂 the red light burnt what I had on top 😂. Now I retouch my natural colour at home to cover greys, and will go to the hairdresser once a year just to refresh the cut. Never again I will change my colour, neither at the salon ir at home. But my Goodness how can such a bad salon not go broke? The funniest thing is that she denied having damaged my hair. 🤷 Luckily, I was able not to have a breakdown, but I spent some hours of real sorrow for my hair. Hugs ❤️
The last time I got a pixie cut I somehow ended up with micro bangs even though I wanted longer bangs. I no longer let that person near my hair (she also gave me a really awful "balayage" - looked more like the ones reacted to here, lol)
The mom with the twins did good the cut wasn't perfect but she clearly respects her daughters as people with their own taste and opinions and that's wonderful to see.
Hi HB!! Absolutely agree. I've never done my hair at home and I never will. However, I really enjoy your videos and the knowledge you spread since there are many people out there who can't or won't go to a salon no matter what, and they can really benefit from all your tips. It's some kind of community service - I believe - and it won't make salons go out of business, there are many of us who will always be happy to pay to have our hair done. Keep up the good work💪 Lots of love from Argentina ❤❤❤
I love how fair you are with your reviews…I do cut my own hair…mostly because I don’t live near many hair stylists and because I know really good cutters are hard to come by…so…I kinda learned to do it myself and I actually like it…it took many cuts times get it right, but I now can do it reasonably well…if I had a place I could go I would…but I don’t. I will say. Good stylists are a rare breed and worth every dime they charge. Being an artist myself I will say, they are artists in their own right. Much respect.
It's just hair, mom. Let the kids do what they want. One of my daughters has bright red hair, and one of my sons has long gorgeous hair. It's their hair, and as long as it is what they want, they can have it. 🎉🎉🎉

I have a pixie. Have for years. My daughter wanted ‘boy’ cut for same reasons as this little girl. We even practiced what to say if/when someone thought she was a boy. It’s just hair. She even gets red streaks put in sometimes. Girl power. I’ve since gone even shorter to a shaved pixie pompadour style. ❤
Only poor people hate when others can have a good living at something and make money. You do great work! Awesome education! And a positive humble gentleman! Love your channel!
I had a pixie cut for years and I am thinking of getting it again but the research I am still doing to find a stylist who can do it and make it look feminine and pretty is hard
#2 flashback. When I was 8 yrs old (mid 70s) my mom was tired of having to deal with my very long hair, so she decided to shorten it. Long story short, we went to the hairdresser for an emergency fix. I don't think she could totally fix it so I came home looking like one of my brothers. I shut myself in my room in tears. I never had long hair after that (maybe shoulder length a few times). I never knew what to do with my daughter's long hair so she had a lot of braids. As a result, I never told my daughter what to do with her hair. The only time she had it cut, she chose a bob because gum kept getting in her hair. Kudos to that mom for making the decision with her daughter & giving (stumbling into) a style she loves!
Thanks Hair Buddha !!!I hadn't seen many tutorials from you on pixies.. thanks for the great advice and confirming the pixies are hard to cut!! We appreciate all of your advice to help people who want to cut their own hair. I have cut my own hair for the past 20 years, after I had my hair permed and pieces broke off and I looked like Alfalfa.. from the Little Rascals. And when I asked them to let it be long in the back because I wanted to grow it out, and they shaved my neck. I appreciate all your information so that I can do my own hair.
I love that comb with the razor. I think it's called a tingle, I always use that to trim my bangs because I can do the slide from the shortest to the longest strands (which I learned here.) I love this channel!
When i was little i didnt like anyone touching my hair, or me in general. Going to a hairdresser was out of the question, i have a meltdown at the thought of it. So my mom trimmed my hair. Now as a grown person i tried a hairdresser but i still really disliked it. So now im just letting it grow and trim the splitends myself. Anyway there are many reasons kids dont want to go to a hairdresser. My mom did good but having tips like yours would have been helpful
I only find my beauty in my hair. What an odd thing to say. Even odder that her solution is to then get rid of the only thing she seems to like about herself. Maybe just maybe the outside shouldn't be used to fix the inside.
I found that statement she made odd also. If she was being honest about that, maybe she was cutting off so she could actually focus on the inside and not get distracted by the outside.
That last clip with the amazing mom was so heart warming ❤ I did something similar. My two youngest got lice at school and they have so much hair, like little chinchillas. It was safest to shave them and treat the house. They were apprehensive about it being little and having autism. So I shaved my head too. Was funny because I got myself psyched up because I was worried I would be sad but I wasn’t and it felt freeing. Then we did a little photo shoot. I got a little flack from strangers being a mom with a shaved head but I didn’t do it for them. I have low key thought about doing it again lol
I switched hairstylists and am paying $15 more and she is worth it! I’m in her chair longer and I look great when I leave. She doesn’t book three people for the same time either-the other did.
I'm on a fixed income but when it comes to getting a great haircut, free by me isn't the way! I consider it a treat and believe life is too short. Enjoy it & get my hair cut professionally.
I think the first time I went to a hairdresser, I was old enough to book and pay it myself. Until then mom cut all our hair at home. There was no youtube back then, but I still remember the instuction book she got with the home haircutting kit.
I LOVE pixie haircuts! I used to have a pixie about 10 years ago. The problem is that my hair grows very fast and pixies are high maintenance to look really good. I had to go to the salon every two weeks to keep it nice and that costs. Maybe I will go back to one if I find a really good hairstylist. Not everyone can cut a good pixie.
Hairdressers are worth the money if someone can afford it. Otherwise, maybe it’s an option to be a practice model for student hairdressers. I’ve done it before and it’s way cheaper. The students also have a supervisor to make sure nothing terrible happens. They’d probably appreciate the volunteers too - I got the impression that people were too nervous about students to trust them. I had waist length hair and said yes when a hairdressing student approached me to practice hair washing and cutting and they were shocked that I said yes lol
That's so awesome!!!! My oldest had hair down to her waist in second grade (she's now 25). She wanted her hair cut n2 layers n up to her shoulders. So I put her hair up in a ponytail at her crown n made a big chop n went from there. My mom said I ruined Christmas 😂😂😂
The longer your hair the most styles you have at your disposal to actually change this a bit without having to resort to cisors. Not to mention acessories. But just like you, I would happily create a budget to go to a good hairdresser.
sweet girls! @Hair Buddha - I'm not sure whether to thank you or ... let me simply say, I need a change, I bought some different colors to choose from, and now? You've scared me silly. problem is I am in a major depression and I desperately need a change, I cannot afford a hair stylist anymore, so I'm stuck in should I or shouldn't I mode which is wrecking me.
Let your kids find themselves 😊
I love that kid’s haircut.

Every person is different and I'm sure there are people who love running to the hairdresser every week, but also many who prefer to do it independently. 🙂
Tip: The more often you do it yourself, the better you get at it.
My sweet relief from Monday morning. Have a great day, Hair Buddha and friends. 🌞❤🌈
Have a wonderful Monday Trista
@@hair-buddha, 😊✌🏼
@Hair Buddha thank you for your positive, encouraging and educational videos. I discovered you on Facebook and was wonderfully surprised when I found out that you also have a TH-cam channel. Back in September I was going through depression and your videos provided an enjoyable escape from the emotional pain. There were days that I let your playlist play on rotation because of the release it provided. Thank you again.
Just read your comment and wanted to let you know you are not alone, and I sincerely hope you are doing better, and continue to feel better a little more every day. ❤

And I'm worth it❤😊
Love the first haircut. It's very complimentary for her hair type and face.
You're so entertaining and supportive of people who go it alone. Great Channel.
That last mom is the best mom in the world!!! That made me smile, thank you!!!
Thank you Hair Buddha for all you do us and me!
YEYYYYY!!!!!!!!! WELCOME MY DAILY DOSE OF HAPPINESS❤
Love that Mum!
Love this what a beautiful and supportive mum ❤❤ thankyou for another awesome video sending you and your family love and light always 💖
Hair Buddha, you're right that it won't change anything with regards to making people go to a salon if they don't want to ... Watching your videos has given me a better appreciation for my hairdresser... I try to tip her better
While I didn't love the back, I thought the front was really sweet. Loved this whole family dynamic, so sweet and encouraging ❤
Hairdressers just like every other professional deserve to be paid for their expertise to make a good living
i appreciate your honesty and your grasp of reality. It is refreshing as are you.
I love you Hair Buddha ! I love what you do ! A few tips doesn’t give them a proper hiarcut , but one they can live w. ❤❤❤❤❤
I live in California and watch your videos everyday before am off to work. My name is Izzy. Thank you Hair Buddha, I appreciate your art and advice ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love your reactions, positivity and support ❤
Her and her kids all having the same haircut was so adorable she obviously cuts their hair and her own
Happy Monday all!
Here in the uk we use the word Fringe, but in the USA they use the word Bangs. I’m interested to know how the word “Bang” was first used to describe the front piece of your hair.
Geat video. Using the razor comb realy cut her hair nice. No blunt edges. The end one was heartwarming. The mom being a super mom. The child is happy all is well.😊
Mom goals ❤❤. And sister goals❤❤. Beautiful family sums up the last clip!
When I was a child (around 4 y/o) I also begged my mum to get a „boy haircut“. She eventually caved and I LOVED it. I was thrilled. I felt so cool.
I love your videos and I'm so thankful for them, you're the best HB 💜
You deserve to make a living like anyone else, no matter where you make your money. I appreciate your channel very much, because I enjoy your commentary and tips. That mom cutting her little girl's hair makes me laugh, because I remember her "ponytail bob" tutorial, where she chopped it... oh my was it choppy.. but she said, "I like it.. I like it the choppy".. (or something like that) hahahaha
I've saved money listening to your advice ..Thank you HB!💯👊
I Love the twinsss and the mom!!! Sooo sweet!!! Beatiful video and your reaction!!! Nice Monday!!! 🍀💙🌞
"It's just Hair" ❤❤
Love that mom!
I looooved the twins and the mom with the pixie/shaved cut!!! so cute
This was an awesome video friend. Thank you so much for creating and sharing your wonderful content. I hope you have the best day absolutely possible friend.
Thank you so much, for you also an amazing week.
Hugs ❤️
Omg what a great mom with sweet loving kids!!!
I just want to say. Watching this. Is such an appreciation for hairstylists
The last time I got a pixie cut I somehow ended up with micro bangs even though I wanted longer bangs. I no longer let that person near my hair (she also gave me a really awful "balayage" - looked more like the ones reacted to here, lol)
What a great mom ❤
The mom with the twins did good the cut wasn't perfect but she clearly respects her daughters as people with their own taste and opinions and that's wonderful to see.
Hi HB!!
Absolutely agree. I've never done my hair at home and I never will. However, I really enjoy your videos and the knowledge you spread since there are many people out there who can't or won't go to a salon no matter what, and they can really benefit from all your tips. It's some kind of community service - I believe - and it won't make salons go out of business, there are many of us who will always be happy to pay to have our hair done.
Keep up the good work💪
Lots of love from Argentina ❤❤❤
One thing I think we should all acknowledge is that something can be reasonably priced and still too expensive for some people.
That was an amazing mom and cute little girls.💖💖💖
I love the fact that you give tips, its helped me a lot, so thank you. I also love the fact that you are honest. Love your videos.
What a beautiful whanau ❤ you are such a passionate parent, listening and hearing our tamariki are two very different things and it can be difficult to fully hear, understand and trust their voice sometimes. You are doing great, both you and those two should be very proud of themselves! Those iti tamariki are fabulous and I know they will grow up to be kind, empathetic and empowering adults.
I love this video. We let our au pair cut our daughter’s hair during lockdown. It was a fun memory for them both and the hair did grow back 😂
Brave and kind
What an amazing mum 😍😍
Thanks Hair Buddha ✂️😊
Only poor people hate when others can have a good living at something and make money. You do great work! Awesome education! And a positive humble gentleman! Love your channel!
@@bumblebeedancer8511 poor person here who has never hated it, or formerly poor. Don’t know what category I’m in now lol
Love that mom!
I love that comb with the razor. I think it's called a tingle, I always use that to trim my bangs because I can do the slide from the shortest to the longest strands (which I learned here.) I love this channel!
When I was around 9 I wanted a pixie cut. I thought they were so cute. My mom wouldn’t let me. I’m so happy that little kid could get what she wanted!
I like the 1st one☺️
#2 The mom butchered her hair
I love your video’s every time ❤
I love the way mom supports her daughter ❤
What a great mom!
I love that mom! ❤
The picture of MJ in the background. Every time it creeps into frame I get the giggles! 😂
I thought exactly the same! 😅
I found that statement she made odd also. If she was being honest about that, maybe she was cutting off so she could actually focus on the inside and not get distracted by the outside.
The kids are so cute - and her mum is great 👌
That last clip with the amazing mom was so heart warming ❤
I did something similar.
Love you watching your videos 😊
Stunning!
Some people are not going to understand your sarcasm but I love it! 😂
Awwww how cute that little girls are 🤭😍
The little girls are so beautiful 🤩❤️
That's so awesome!!!! My oldest had hair down to her waist in second grade (she's now 25). She wanted her hair cut n2 layers n up to her shoulders. So I put her hair up in a ponytail at her crown n made a big chop n went from there. My mom said I ruined Christmas 😂😂😂
Your hair is the only part of your outfit that you wear every day. I'm happy to pay a good hairdresser for a good haircut.
The longer your hair the most styles you have at your disposal to actually change this a bit without having to resort to cisors.
Not to mention acessories.
But just like you, I would happily create a budget to go to a good hairdresser.
"It's just hair, it grows back."
"At some point, mine didn't." Savage 😂😂
The mom with the purple Bob is so supportive, I love it 🥰
sweet girls!
Your videos are fun and enjoyable - perfect really. Thanks for the effort you put in!
Sincerely,
Alyssa
