Its accuracy depends on on the range balls also. Went to track man range in England and the balls in the range were 30 yards of a difference from one of my own balls. Didn’t realise this till have way through my session thinking I was doing something wrong, hit a few of my own balls resulting in my normal yardages for my 8 iron
My local AG has these in each of the bays, I use it for focussed practise and gapping and with the app, I can analyse some of the data when I get back home. My ears pricked up when you mentioned the algorithm adjustment for range balls, I’ve always believed they came out about 5-10 yards short. My grandson plays the fishing game when we go together, so we can both enjoy the session. Great bit of kit.
I used one a few times and wasn't that convinced the radar was facing in a way its impossible to collect data from the ball at the moment of impact so it can only calculate the ball speed after it has left the bay and it basically gave the distance of where a range lake ball landed and it was into a really strong wind and I couldn't see anyway of it normalising to get your distance. Funnily enough I had a fitting where the latest flightscope was set up directly behind me in the bay and the data was different again Alright for a bit of fun and if it gets people into golf great but didn't help with distance on clubs or anything in that respect.
I think you need to hit the convert button on the menu on the right hand side. From what I understand trackman is calibrated for range balls and "convert" will convert the yardages to real yardages as if you are using normal golf balls. Cheers Dylan.
That's what I understand too. Our local one doesn't default to conversion, so you have to select a club, then hit the convert button, which then stays on for all your irons. Maybe they either already hit Convert, or that one defaults to convert.
I’m confused with the Convert button at the moment. Without pressing it the driver goes my usual distance but with it on it’s telling me it’s 30 yards shorter. Can you help me understand this?
Well I will need to do a recalibration of my meters carry on all my clubs. The transfer from range balls to normal I'll have to remember to engage. 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
It’s a good upgrade from a basic range. However, if you’re thinking this is the full Trackman, you’ll be disappointed. I’ll definitely use it for a gapping session and with the kids.
I like trackman on an open range, but I don’t trust hitting into a screen. I haven’t hit a slice with driver in over 10 years but on my local trackman indoor range I struggle with slicing. Can’t trust it now
I recently had a lesson in a trackman studio. It measured my 7 iron swing at 70mph and a carry of 140 yards. My driver it measured at 87mph and 195 yards carry. Not sure why as my 7 iron is 82mph with a carry of 154 yards and my driver is 96mph and a carry of 225 yards average. GC Quad is so much better. The one range I know the bays are a bit cramped and it picks up balls from other bays to show on your screen. It's a bit shite.
Trackman takes into account temperature. Most golfers don't; hence, the loss of yards and yes ... golf ball as well. Premium golf balls will go about 10 yrs further than beat up drunk range balls.
Yes, but Trackman has a thing where it optimizes the data to a premium ball, you can turn it off for real numbers (If the range one has the same feature as a portable unit)
Have had trackman at the range say balls are going further than previous shots when they were clearly 5-10 yards shorter. Was my sand wedge being called longer than my approach wedge. All messed up, and different from range finder..?
Lol what? Nobody uses "laser". Trackman is a radar based unit, which is ideal for outdoor use, not for indoor. Then there are camera based units, like the GCquad and such, those are the best for indoor.
@@TCM_OPS It's better for the open outdoors, that's the point. Radar is shit indoor because it needs distance to get a proper reading lol. Do you think the airforce is shooting missiles indoor on a screen you clown?

Love these Backside of golf videos … well done Al and Dan. 👍🏴☠️
Carry for the 8 iron 145 yds and Total was 143 yds 🤔🤔🤦🤦🤦

They’ve just had this installed at Wembley driving range mate so think I’ll be down there a fair bit from now on 😂
It’s brill with the app mate. If you can enter tournaments (think you can) you can play in our TEAMAL events

That would be horrible engineering.

The distances are questionable.

That’s common. It’s just trusting the swing inside not the system itself. You can get used to it but not everyone likes it 👍
Playing on a really windy course distance in some respects is secondary to trajectory control
Couldn't disagree more
that's OK :-)@@BigALGolfShow
I think some ranges need to recalibrate the system, 😂
use one all the time - not sure they are accurate but they are consistent i think

Depends on the calibration to be honest. If it’s set up poorly it will perform poorly
I used the system a bit and I don’t think they are accurate. The difference from bay to bay on ball speed and distance varies a lot
Your supposed to enter your club and press the convert button 😂 to get real ball data
We did. Also went for a poo and didn’t document that either
@@BigALGolfShow I bet you do lovely big poos
@@BigALGolfShow Funny - Conversion numbers are usually blue and i didnt see you change the club in the system when going from an 8 to a 9 iron ;)

Not calibrated correctly then 👍
I have to say I hated the 4 1/2 minutes of black screen, it was the worst golf content ever. 🙂
😂😂😂
another example of under clubbing ;-)
Another example of assumption
every single one was short of target distance - what assumption?

IMHO-trackman is way over priced and over rated. laser is best.
