Thanks so much Lindy, this is wonderful! My first mini handfasting this weekend and you have made this so easy to follow and understand. Remembered it too after the first go because of your clear explanation. Thank you! Lucky couples to have you as their celebrant xx
This video is fantastic and so relaxing as I wanted to do this for my friends wedding after they have it done by a celebrant a keep sake with a ceremony cord and could find any where to show you how to apply the cord I loved it thank you so much
Most useful, thanks Lindy! As a piper I'm starting to be asked to do hand fasting at types of more private ceremonies some couples hold after their official wedding ceremony.
I'm curious are there any different ways to make a handfast knot when the cording you are using is flat and wide? I had a traditional irish crios made for our wedding but due to it's nature it's hard to get a good knot style done and it not look awkward. I'm hoping to leave it knotted after and put it in a shadow box so I'm trying to find a nice knot style that can work for it. Any help would be appreciated.
Kate and William were married in a Christian religious ceremony in West Minster Abbey there was no hand fasting ceremony. And should you not always be referring to yourself as a Celebrant and not slip to calling yourself a celibate... which has a whole other meaning?????
Hi Cait, if you watch Kate & William's ceremony, just after they have exchanged rings they are asked to join right hands and a piece of cloth was then wrapped around their hands and a blessing was given. In terms of Celibate/Celebrant, I'm not sure what you heard, and it might be my Ayrshire accent but I'm definitely a Celebrant ;)
Can't tell you how many times I come back to this video to remind myself how to do a handfasting before the ceremony ;) Thanks SO much for this vid xx
You are most welcome :)

Hi Erika,
You would just tie the know the same way but I would suggest you practice first a few times (with similar ribbons) to get it right.
Thank you!! This was so useful :)

As a LONG time Pagan celebrant and witch - I can tell you that is NOT how you tie a handfasting cord
There are numerous ways of tying Handfasting cords. Why don't you share your infinite wisdom and experience by making your own video?
I have - many
