Best advice I can give is always assume you need more room than you think and don't be afraid to go slow. As you drive more you will get the feel for it and gain confidence. I speak as someone who's only been driving about a year.
@@rickandmorty4-ever61 Depends the famous groups like Stobart don't pay well, but I know guys who work in the fuel tanking industry who work 6 months a year and earn £70k
Eurotunnel. It’s a border crossing between Calais, France and Folkestone, England. It goes under the English channel and lorries, buses, and cars has to board a specially designed train to make the crossing
I used to work on the platforms from 2008-2102, strange to see a few changes since then in terms of procedures: 4:35, the security guard should be checking both sides of each HGV before boarding to ensure no rips in the curtain, fuel caps are in place and no overhanging. 8:05, the security guard should be standing at the end of the loader to prevent drivers from thinking they need to drive through the whole train as this can lead to confusion so to which vehicle is last (on arrival) and first (on departure). Not sure on the French side, but loading HGV's on B10 in England was brilliant for the Agent 5 (the guy I mentioned at 4:35) and the Agent 6 (who loads the front half) as there was only one entrance and exit ramp. So plenty of room for moving vehicles around if needed to swap HGV's around. I spent the first 3 years as a 'chocker' (the lads that put the metal blocks under the wheels) and the final year as both Agent 5 and 6. Good times.
I've become so accustomed to jump cuts that I don't even see them anymore... It took me a few tries but the cut at 6:48 is when entering the train on one side stopped, and exiting it at the other side starts. I was like, why does he drive off again, is he going to bypass a bunch of trucks and enter the train farther ahead?!? But no, we had already crossed...
I don't know much about trucking, I've only really played a bit of Euro Truck Sim 2, but to be honest trucking in Europe looks like a pretty nice job. I,ve always thought the insides of these trucks look very cozy :)
being confused as im sure some of us are, i did some research. hes driving the truck onto a train which then crosses the eurotunnel. when he thumbs up hes loaded on the train.

I drove only in Europe and England I visit a lot of different countries in Europe and different cities. It is really awesome 👍. I usually spend Saturday and Sunday for traveling.
I've used the channel tunnel many times with a motorcycle, always wondered what the HGV process was like, so thanks. But..........your camera is quite disorientating, I'm assuming it's on your head? Too much movement. Be better if it was mounted static.
In Europe trucks use the retarder and engine brake autonomously: there's a single lever with several (depending on the model) settings, and those will engage either the retarder or the engine brake, or both, as needed. You'd want to use the retarder as much as possible, using normal brakes only when you need to stop in a hurry, or come to a complete stop (since the retarder/engine brake will not take you to a complete stop), that saves on wear and tear. Absolutely do not use the retarder/engine brake when your trailer is light and the road surface is slippery, you'll seriously risk jackknifing the vehicle, and that's not a good thing.
Staggering that the Brits still use imperial on their road signs. In an area where probably the most non-UK drivers drive in the entire country, no less.
