- Selling 15 iPhones, we found in the trash, to a machine at Walmart. We found 15 iphones in a dumpster and decided to see how much money we could get for them from ECOATM.

Where I live old phones, returned to the phone companies, are refurbished and then donated to women's shelters where they are handed out to disenfranchised women so they can call 911 in an emergency.

The refurbish and donate to women’s shelters here in the Central Valley, CA too.
Better off donating to places like that. The machine is a complete ripoff.

I buy on ebay and mercari and I would say you could have made a decent amount not those trash machines.
Those machines are just a clever scam. Tell you a bunch of recycling facts and get you to "recycle" your phone. Mean while there going to take them and fix them or strip for parts and resell for a high profit. Btw I will buy any broken phone you get.

Of course the machine is going to say no cash value so you will hit the recycle button and later on the owner comes along and pulls out all them phones and makes a nice profit..lol

Ryan yup there are alot of utubers plus people who fix them up & resale etc...that use the parts to rebuild the models,
I watched 1 guy yesterday buy around 10 iphone x for around £1000, he was able to use the parts & made 2 perfect iphone X’s that are fully working & not a scratch on them...
@@yvonnesmith9107 yes, they do that for the views, not so they can make money off the iphones. It's possible they do eventually sell them, because why not, but they could just as well throw them in the trash after the video is done.
If you've watched their videos, they do typically sell them. They were told about the kiosk and wanted to just check it out 😁

That's smart...the owners of the machine I mean. They pray on people's fear of seaming like they care more about money than the environment, so they give you $0 and a warm fuzzy feeling in your heart.....then they empty the machine and sell the phones for scrap gold and platinum and make $1000's. Brilliant!

@@douglasgoldstein8990 Sure i guess if you ignore the cost of the machine, paying walmart I'm sure, employees collecting the phones, breaking them down into pieces or what parts are valuable and smelting the precious metals but you're really reaching lol and it would be naive to think that they're not in the business to make money lol
@@user-wx7mi5dj8u the machines are exactly the same as any vending machine, 1 person owns them, so that person collects all the money/phones deposited. It's then up to them to break them down. And the machine is a 1 time expense. If it wasn't lucrative, the machines wouldn't exist. Like you said, it's all about making money.

You really are helping our environment by Dumpster Diving and collecting many items that do not belong in The land fills! Thanks for Recycling all those phones. You can sell the broken ones on ebay as parts and a lot and people buy those things like crazy

I was checking one of these machines out and a new I phone 10 x was appraised by the machine to be worth $25 . Ya right what a crooked racket.

You are lying. I just checked on EcoATM website (you can get the value of a phone on their website) and an iPhone X (there is no 10 x) is worth $115 at a EcoATM kiosk.
I'm thinking you could have bundled them for 300 on eBay. Those machines want to give you little to nothing so they can fix and resell.

Don't you think that other resellers come and buy stuff of Steph and Steve when they sell their items cheap and then turn around and flip the items for more money? @@skaarup33 that kiosk probably does worse then the landfill...they may even ship their ewaste to other countries...they are in the biz to make money. ..those kiosks are not a guarantee what is to happen to those phones...they may even end up back in some Temecula dumpster!
Just glad Steve made it clear at the end that they could have made more by selling on eBay, but wanted to investigate this process for us. Thanks, just as I suspected......a way to get taken advantage of.......

I'd be real wary of associating my ID with phones found in the trash. You have no idea if they could be stolen.

@@lindaconnell7394 dawg they have already said that you cant pick it up off of surfaces. Most viruses cant survive outside of a host for more than a few hours. Sunlight kills viruses. So. Be afraid of peoples' mouths. Not surfaces.

First time viewer of this particular channel & I commend this couple for trying there luck at selling those phones via that machine. And for recycling the phones that were not worth anything, as well. Because sure while the aim of reselling is to make as much bread, in terms of profit as you possibly can, there is also a thing called *’integrity.’* Something that judging by this couple’s actions, you can tell they have in spades. If they have no cash value, take them back, take the gold wire out, put them back in and hit recycle to begin with. Over time, you will cumulate some gold value.

I use to send my phones to a recycling company for free. Sometimes they didn't want the battery it was to be recycled separately. The batteries have a certain "mineral"
(forgot the name now) that has to be dug out of the earth. So by recycling that mineral you can save some of the planet.

I think it's funny that I still use my IPhone 5C. It still works just fine. I don't do a lot of internet things with it but it still works for texts and calls and I still can take pictures with it. I am 63 and I don't need a fancy phone. That and I can't fathom spending $1000.00 on a phone. This was interesting! Thanks for the video!😁✌

Im on my DG dumpster Android!! I found three brand new in the box nice minute phones i use them on wifi here at home to do things and like that I still have two brand new ones i haven't used at all when this one gets full of data overload!! Haha..

When I first started seeing theses machines was in 2016 in spartanburg South Carolina and these machines paid way more back then I sold them a bs LG phone for 80$ I think over time they started to rip ppl off on the payout smh
I'm from Spartanbu Sc and I've tried to use these machines in Walmart to sell broken iphones and they always say it isn't worth anything...knowing whoever owns these machines is going to make money off of the phones you donate... it is a SCAM!!!

This machine low balls people. If you take to somewhere like GameStop you can get a higher cash value and they’ll refurbish it and resell it

@@GlitchedPepsi It is $56 for the 500GB which don't seems like much but im a reseller myself I pay more than they do but for that system in like new condition but used id give $75 maybe $80 sell for $130 plus S&H and make $47 but that a instant $47. Reason they don't pay alot is cause there work into reselling not just free money like people think then got fees and risk of customer with credit card doing a chargeback so if was not for all that I pay $100-$110 but cause there is all that to it I think they offer ok price fair no but close

The same thing happened with old carseats, you used to be able to trade them in for cash at Wal-Mart but it only lasted about a month because people started breaking into cars to steal the carseats for cash 🤦 It happened to a few people in my town.

I googled “sell my phone kiosk” or something and it came up. There are many of them around I guess with different names, so try Walmart or google ❤️

not much i was offered $25 dollars from one for a iphone 8 in excellent conditione and unlocked, those phones that were in good shape and if they powered up worth $20 ,5s $10 dont believe those machines

Good video people say u could do this u could do that , but rember you got them of dumpster & when did you ever hear being greedy is worth it & if it makes something out of nonthing y squeeze more see we wonder why there so much hate in world if get water free we expect juice free too.
