Congratulations on all the success you guys are having! For those who have had a “rough” start to the season, remember, what appears to be “bad”, is not always so. Remember that time in your life where you were going through something really, really, really difficult. It seemed like it would never end, and regardless of what you did, it just got harder. Yet one day down the line, you came to the realisation you were out of the experience. You were out of the adversity. And, what did you say to yourself? “If it had never happened, I wouldn’t be the person I am today, and things wouldn’t have turned out so well. It taught me a lot.” So, as you sit there with a smile on your face in a much better position, prouder of the person you are. Was what once appeared to be bad, really that bad? No! Apply the same logic in FPL. Maybe your captain blanking is a blessing. Maybe everyone will sell him, and he’s going to score a hat-trick next week. But, you can’t know that, until it unfolds. So instead of viewing it as “bad”, have a little faith that it’s all working out for you. This is an ancient proverb, it has been used by many, many, many successful people for centuries. Consider it! Much love
Not solely FPL related, but if there’s a way to present/articulate this, I’d love to hear a deep dive on how you go about your analysis and in general how you approach watching football to come to the conclusions that you do. I love your analysis and breakdowns, I feel like you can articulate what you’re thinking really well and present it in an understandable manner, you see what most average fans don’t whether it’s player profiling or a sides tactical approach and how it compares against the oppositions. I feel like I have similar thoughts (although definitely nowhere near as insightful) whilst I’m watching games but can never put things as clear as you can. I think I can profile a player quite well but I struggle to analyse the bigger picture of a game whilst I’m watching (formations, tactics, the game as a whole) in the same level of depth as you are able to. And then being able to use that information to try predict future matchups outcomes teams and players wise. Whether it’s just came completely natural to you, or if you’ve got a system you follow whilst watching games in order to analyse them in such a high-level way. Long story short I want to learn how to watch/understand what is going on at a higher level, as opposed to just spectating a game. I suppose like how good coaches are actually able to watch the game as opposed to your standard fan. Love bro keep it up.
Firstly, thank you very, very, very much Alfie. I am truly grateful for the support, and the fact you think of my abilities so highly. So there’s a couple things: 1. To answer your last question, my analysis is largely natural as opposed to systematic. The analysis isn’t usually conscious. At times yes, I’ll ask myself *why* is this happening, and try to figure it out from there. For example, Everton vs Fulham. I realised Everton were playing rubbish, but nothing was coming to me. So I just asked myself *why*, and that created an automatic response for ideas just to be fed to me, and for me to pay closer attention to what’s going on. Asking yourself *why* something is happening, is very helpful. You will be surprised at some of the great things that come up. But, usually I’ll just watch it, and I’ll be like oh “blah blah blah”. It just comes. I have always understood football at a decent level. Even when I was younger, and people didn’t think I did (I obviously knew way, way less, and got many things wrong), but I got things right that were at a respectable level of difficulty if that makes sense. Then when it comes to sports/games in general, again it’s fairly natural, I just sort of get it. BUT, anyone can get it even if they aren’t a natural. The most important thing is not hard work, but DESIRE to be at a certain level. Everything else including the action will naturally follow. - There is a saying which isn’t widely used, nor well known at all: “you learn to ski in the summer” It’s slightly complicated, but it’s to do with the subconscious mind, how information sets in, learning patterns, how the neural pathways establish themselves, etc. But, essentially the crux here is, you will figure things out about the game after you watch it. Hours later, days later. There are times where I genuinely understand more about the game I watched, 2-3 days down the line, as opposed to straight after it. So you don’t need everything instantly. 2. In terms of making a piece of content on it, I shall certainly consider it. It would require some time, and will likely be down the line, but I’ll definitely consider it. And, I’m happy to answer any questions in the mean time! Appreciate you brother.
Thank you for replying Jian, just your comment here is very insightful. I’m going to try apply some of the things when I’m watching this weekend. Keep it up bro you’re gonna blow up soon.
The pinned comment is brilliant man, it’s my first fpl season and I’m in the dark to a lot of the landmarks and mechanics of the game (using my wild card in 2 for some reason) but your mindset and videos have been the best possible accompaniment to getting started and I’m loving the experience overall. Really happy to be a part of this community 🙏
I’m delighted to hear that Jake, thank you very much taking the time to share. Love having you as part of the community, and this is just the beginning!
I have done a differential transfer for DCL out. As I already have Cunha, I didn't want to double up with Strand Larsen. With Woods fixtures getting tough and don't want to play a Brighton attacker vs Man City. Hence I have gone for Evanilson now.
Great analysis Jian! I’ve been watching your videos for a few weeks now and they’ve helped me with my decisions tremendously! I want your opinion on my transfers, I took a -4 to bring in Ait-Nouri for Saliba and Cunha for Solanke and I’m not sure if that was the best move.
Transferred Hall in for Van Den Ven and brought in Strand Larsen.-4 hit. Newcastle have nice run over the next 3 GW. 285K rank, happy so far. Total budget of 103
Hello again, and huge congrats on the ever-increasing viewership, it's much deserved. I rolled last week, so have 3 FTs this week. I actually sold Havertz for Strand Larsen to catch the price rise earlier in the week (wishing I went Cunha but I have to live with it now as I don't want the double up) so at the moment we are looking at: Sels, TAA, RAN, Gabriel, Salah, Brennan, Rogers, Mbeumo, Garnacho, Strand Larsen, Haaland (C) - Slicker/Myk/Greaves/Stewart. I'm conscious of being able to do Brennan to Palmer in GW12, I'm also looking at going without Haaland after the Spurs game (think he could go big in that). So my question is, are there any moves worthwhile with the two extra transfers that I have? There aren't any defenders really jumping out at me, I wouldn't mind having Bruno but don't see where he fits in my structure, and I'm also thinking of Hojlund instead of Stewart but I'm really not sure on that either. Any transfer/planning advice would be greatly appreciated (I've already used WC6). Many thanks again 🤌👌
Hello Patrick, Thank you, very, very, very much man. It depends how much cash you have ITB! Say you have a couple million ish, Stewart up to someone and bench Rogers would be great.
@@FPLJianBatraYeah, I currently have 2.7m ITB, so I can afford up to 7.2. Stewart can be brought up to Hojlund, or perhaps even Evanilson? Is there anybody else that might be a shout? Hojlund could be great especially with Amorim on the horizon, but not sure if the eye test is there just yet. Thoughts? Many thanks.
Hi I'm quite new to the channel but I love the content and you make a lot of sense always, especially the tactical analysis always spot on! My planned move is Lewis to a Man u defender. I would have said yes, but considering he picked up a knock, I think Garnacho gets the start. Unnecessary risk to take, plus just feel like Garnacho is rated internally.

I have Gvardiol myself but can’t think of a tactical reason why he’ll score points, so convince me. And is Semenyo a good option this week for the same reason as Mbeumo (basketball effect)? Can’t believe it took you that long to get rid of DCL 😉 I should have guessed you were going Strand Larsen after the comments on the pervious video 🤝 Even if it’s just for this week because if you WC in 12 you’re probably going Cunha?
Yes, a few particular comments, from a few smart guys👀 Yeah I imagine I go Cunha in 12, but I do have a slightly theory fixtures 12-14 are a bit overrated
Hey Jian, Yesterday I asked you who to captain between salah and mbeumo and u said Mbeumo marginally right now. Has your opinion changed after seeing the 3 Villa away games? Also would you start Gabriel over van dijk this week?
If havertz seems like he won’t play then should I transfer him to Jackson 1 week early. Was looking to get Jackson in 12 I have Cunha and halland. I have Palmer but would like to hold him as I can’t get to salah with my 1 free transfer
I have my captaincy on Haaland currently, was always the plan, switched it to him last Saturday when the fpl app updated. Villa look weak defensively and city look fragile so it has left me unsure. I saw fplmeerkat’s post from about 40 mins ago at the time of writing and going off his graphics, Brighton have conceded the least through central/striker positions and more so through wide areas. What are your thoughts? Other part of me views city as a wounded lion 🦁 hurt but still very dangerous.
I think zonal analysis, or anything of the sort, needs to be applied with HEAVY context. It also requires a huge amount of time to do that. So I rather just take what I see, albeit I’m sure it is useful in certain instances. Haaland is locked for me.
Hi mate, can't decide whether or not to burn my 1 Free transfer. Only have 3 defenders Lewis, Aina and Trent. My bench got injured... is it worth the transfer of Lewis to someone else. Or take the risk of him not starting and have 2 FT for after international break?
Funnily enough when I was recording, I had to resist the urge to talk about it. I honestly don’t think it’s that bad. Would captain him over everyone in my team aside from Haaland & Mo.
think I'm going to go gabriel to dalot, but I'm just not super sure if he will have better minutes than mazroui in the mid to long term. Then I'm planning DCL to Cunha, these transfers are assuming palmer is healthy though.
I think i should switch havertz and foden for salah and strand larsen - will be for -4. Havertz drop tonight i think he can score but doubtfull he start for sure. What u think?
Hey, what are your thoughts on Calvert-Lewin out for Strand Larsen? Or start one of Calvert-Lewin, Roger’s or Lewis and roll my 1 Transfers. Keep up the good content!
Im pretty set on DCL to Strand Larsen with my 1 FT even though it will cost me a hit in GW12 when I look to bring Palmer and Isak/Jackson with only 1 FT after the DCL move. Do you feel like Haaland to Jackson/Isak and Rogers to Palmer is worth the -4? I just feel like Palmer and Jackson with the fixture and not being in the Conference league squad is massive. Also not to mention Villa are in the UCL and there will soon be midweek games in the prem which 1. Reduces Rogers minutes or 2. We see a bad performance like against Bournemouth, thoughts? Also great video and IMO you should WC in 12. I dont see the reason/upside to hold it when you get on Palmer and Jackson in GW12 and get rid of players who dont look to optimal.
Hi jian As a person that owns Haaland and salah and Foden and I am WC 12 I am guaranteeing you that salah will blank. It is something called law of averages - I am also sure Haaland will haul I am going to take a - 8 to get real aggressive I am 100k a bit like you we have used no chips. Let’s hope Foden also hauls I’m rooting for you boss to do well I like that you have differentials unlike most of the other overall
Hello brother, Thank you very much firstly and foremost. You seem very confident, I hope you’re right🤣 If I may, to call this the Law of Averages in this particular example doesn’t work. To apply it here would actually be a fallacy. We can discuss this in more detail should you wish! But, like I said, I hope you’re right about the outcome!
Trent > Dalot Rogers > Bruno F Jimenez > 4.5m -4 hit or Gabriel > Mazouri Rogers > Garnacho or Jimenez > Hojlund? I could also go Gabriel > Colwill rest him and then move Lewis > Dalot?
Congratulations on all the success you guys are having!

No way, I think Everton lose.
@ thanks mate
whats your thoughts on replacing dcl with isak ?
I would say it’s fine.
Closer to good, than bad.
Where can i send you my team so u could help me with my transfers for gw11?
Just drop a comment here pal (a new one, not a reply)
Cunha or strand larsen?
Watch my last video mate, will help you with that.
Hi mate, can't decide whether or not to burn my 1 Free transfer. Only have 3 defenders Lewis, Aina and Trent. My bench got injured... is it worth the transfer of Lewis to someone else. Or take the risk of him not starting and have 2 FT for after international break?
Yeah I would sell him for RAN/whoever, and take the upside.
Aren't you considering arsenal defence on your wildcard?
Yeah I might go Gabriel instead of Gvardiol
Would you entertain captaining foden
Funnily enough when I was recording, I had to resist the urge to talk about it.
I honestly don’t think it’s that bad.
Would captain him over everyone in my team aside from Haaland & Mo.
@@FPLJianBatraI would love to but I’m not chasing and have real good placement so I’ll just play it safe
think I'm going to go gabriel to dalot, but I'm just not super sure if he will have better minutes than mazroui in the mid to long term. Then I'm planning DCL to Cunha, these transfers are assuming palmer is healthy though.
Sounds very, very solid.
I like them!
I'm considering punting on Solanke captaincy, but might it be too bold? Salah brings you extra points, penalties and more security.
I find it so unnecessary when Haaland exists, but if you don’t have him, then yeah it’s cool man.
Amad can start ahead of garnacho
Scored a brace tonight.
Still don’t think he starts though.
Gameweek 12 wildcard is what i am targetting as well
See you there Maddy🤝
I think i should switch havertz and foden for salah and strand larsen - will be for -4. Havertz drop tonight i think he can score but doubtfull he start for sure. What u think?
I would absolutely not do that.
I think both Havertz & Foden could realistically return this week.
@FPLJianBatra if im sure havertz will Play i will roll. Thx for help.
Hey, what are your thoughts on Calvert-Lewin out for Strand Larsen?
Or start one of Calvert-Lewin, Roger’s or Lewis and roll my 1 Transfers.
Keep up the good content!
Hello,
Thank you!
Tough call, I would probably just get Strand Larsen
Good analysis every week iAmATo here.
Thank you iAmAto 🐐
OG
Did you already have Garnacho in your team? I don't remember you having him
Did it at 10:58am Saturday given no McNeil leak mate
Thank you very much my man.
I think you can think about the hit when the time comes.
I don’t think it’s completely necessary to be honest.
Bench 1 of Ait nouri, Dalot, Gvardiol and Gabriel
Or play 4 of them and bench Wood?
Tough.
Bench Gabriel, but I got a feeling he does well.
Captain mbeumo or salah?
Salah now I would say, marginally
@ thanks bro, keep up the great content👊
Hi jian
As a person that owns Haaland and salah and Foden and I am WC 12 I am guaranteeing you that salah will blank.
It is something called law of averages - I am also sure Haaland will haul
I am going to take a - 8 to get real aggressive
I am 100k a bit like you we have used no chips.
Let’s hope Foden also hauls
I’m rooting for you boss to do well I like that you have differentials unlike most of the other overall
Hello brother,
Thank you very much firstly and foremost.
You seem very confident, I hope you’re right🤣
If I may, to call this the Law of Averages in this particular example doesn’t work. To apply it here would actually be a fallacy.
We can discuss this in more detail should you wish!
But, like I said, I hope you’re right about the outcome!
One day I’ll see you roll a transfer…! 😂😂😂
What a glorious day that will be🤣
Start fabianski or Sanchez
Fabianski
Do you play football?
Not currently, I will in the near future.
How come mate?
Trent > Dalot
Rogers > Bruno F
Jimenez > 4.5m
-4 hit or
Gabriel > Mazouri
Rogers > Garnacho or Jimenez > Hojlund? I could also go Gabriel > Colwill rest him and then move Lewis > Dalot?
Don’t like any really, but maybe the last one?
