The chassis and suspension arms look very similar to helion RC's that were sold through HobbyTown here in the States they had the dominus and the Invictus line of vehicles
I have a slash 4x4 and a senton 4x4 might have to add this to the collection too 👍

It seems to be a pretty solid offering. I'm thinking with those speed tests you did, that light bar is catching air, just enough to get the front up so the front can catch even more air. Combine that with the torque forces from a fast start and then backflips.
On the bottom side in the rear. What is the one Random screw that is sticking up? Looks like an afterthought.
Lipo bag seems good to me and a nice addition
Looks as good as a Slash especially as price wise it's comparable to a Slash 2wd as has a few Slash 2wds I would choose this for sure. As only 2wd I own now is my Tamiya Blackfoot

If you're going to run it on grass then fit the motor with a heatsink and fan combo as it does like to go into thermal shutdown mode, even on just 2S as I found out last weekend.

I have the brushless Zorro and have had a play with the Apache - the Zorro is better in every way and not even taking into account it’s centre diff! I prefer the body styling in the Apache but that’s it! Looking forward to the next video 👍👍
That's surprising with the Zorro brushless mostly based off an older platform, had a few ESC issues with them when running on 3s, I'm not sure I believe the claimed 80 amps. It looks like the Apache handles much better on the rough stuff as well
Once u put a bashing batter 60c or higher battery it will shed the grass like a lawnmower lol

That "weird sort of battery size", looks like it might be the right size to accept what is known as a "shorty pack". Shorty pack batteries are typically used for racing, but, might work very well in this application. They are usually around 4000 to 6000 mA rated, which would already be a bonus, but more to the point, they are typically rated at 120C or 130C, which should seriously brighten up the performance. Would be good to know if a shorty pack will fit, as they are also typically much lighter in weight, less weight means, goes faster. Great channel, keep it going.

Why would it cog only on grass ? What the surface has to do with that ? Isn't it an electronic related issue ?

Am thinking of getting one after quite a few years away from RC cars, what’s the general view of FTX from those that have owned them? Solid company? Decent spares/parts availability?

How I wish they put this body on the brushless Zorro chassis.
I think the radio is better than any Traxxas or any standard Spektrum RTR radio, it also has end point adjustments on it as well. You might get a little bit more range out it if you make sure the antenna wire is sticking up, I think it list 120m.
The Zorro doesn't have Hobbywing electronics in it and aren't as smooth, the car is less durable with it being based off an older platform. This probably could have done with the 60amp ESC version like the Rival MT10 has and probably wouldn't cog in longer grass then. it would actually be really good for someone to test this theory. Not had too many suspension breakages, the servo is definitely on the weak side. The battery size is probably the weakest point as if you want a bigger hard case lipo you will need to go 2s. I would like to see how it runs on 2s, would it still cog 🤔
How dose it compare to an arrma senton? Not sure how it. Compares price wise over there tho.
I don’t have one yet and in the UK it would be 35-40% more expensive than the Apache

Surely the arrma senton gives you much higher performance but much better value than a slash . I know you have to buy a battery and stuff but it would be good to have it in this competition/comparison

This is at the lower price point same as the Zorro brushless. For Arrma Senton money you also have the Associated Pro4 SC10 based off the Rival MT10 which I would say has surpassed the 3s range with it's centre diff and being even more durable
I'm pretty sure the battery tray is designed in a way that it can support shorty lipos and standard size lipos. I'm not a fan of having the servo horn exposed. There is too much risk to cause damage. Overall, it's a solid looking truck.
That’s what I was thinking but I tried a 2S shorty pack and it didn’t even fit. I’ll try and find out what will fit in the square battery part for the next video
I opted for brushed Zorro then stuck a cheap brushless system in it. About £150 all inc.

Nope, not for me.
This and the Zorro brushless are basically buggies, suspension wise. I much prefer the brushed Zorro's suspension, which is basically an Outlaw chassis. The trailing arm suspension with it's solid axle change the handling significantly. It allows the realistic look that the truck attains during acceleration, just like the full size trophy trucks. And you can upgrade to brushless with a good motor esc combo and save many ££££$$$$ at the same time.
Should have been faster than 33mph on 3s. I get about 37 out of the Ramraider and Rokatan. Battery must have been low.

Apache has smaller tyres than the Ramraider. The outside temperature can also play a part, a little warmer conditions and it might have gone a little faster
@RCKickschannel Wow that's surprising. Even the Rokatan hits about 37 with small tyres. Must be the temperature outside. I must say when I got the Ramraider the throttle duelrate on transmitter was set wrong out the box. Could be that.
@Luke-en2tk Yea but I bet the Apache has the bigger pinion to compensate. Ramraider has a 15 tooth and Rokatan a 17 tooth. I put the Rokatan 17 Tooth in my Ramraider and hits about 40 now.

Sounds like the drivetrain is binding somewhere.........
I went and had a look. When turning it by hand it feels OK, no tight spots and resistance feels normal. I will pop open a diff to check in one of the vids.
Does not look as good quality as ftx used to be? The Maverick Flux range looks better imo

I have both versions of the Zorro, and was very interested in seeing how this performed.
The issues you had with the Apache, seem to be the same throughout. Weak servos, underpowered (brushed), and coggy (brushless).
The brushed version rolls over as soon as look at it, and the brushless wants to tuck the front end. Both my Zorro's now run Anti-Roll bars on the front and rear, the rear on the brushed is a scratch built one, using 3mm bar, drop links with a 90° offset, some 35mm hex head bolts, and some washers. This has transformed the handling.
I like the look of the Zorro shell, but the Apache looks incredible. Will the Apache shell fit the Zorro, given that the Zorro uses the cage beneath the shell.
