U can plug fans in like factory and still run a switch inside so u can turn it on and off. If u do it this way and u forget to turn it on it will still turn on at temperature
The thermostat helps control the engine temps so if it's not getting hot there is absolutely no reason to take it out. Unless you have a ewp with a controller

Rudnik, the purpose of a thermostat is to remain closed until it gets to an optimal temperature, then it opens to allow coolant through. It basically warms your car up faster so you can use it sooner. I would not recommend removing it, as it will take longer to warm up to operating temp.
Guys, you can leave it on the thermostatic switch and wire an on/off switch in line to be able to turn it on when you want. Drag guys do this to be able to turn the fans on in the staging lanes.

In some cases removing the thermostat allows the water to flow too fast thru the radiator, water re-enters engine still hot, with the thermostat in place allows the water to hang out in the radiator long enough for it to cool before re-entering the engine. I would drill 2 or 3 holes in the thermostat.
One thing about the water temp gauge. It will ait higher than normal due to it being the hottest pipe heading back to the radiator to be cooled. I use one on my drift bmw and normal temp is about 90°c and top pipe will show about 100°c. Normal drifting in my car top pipe can show 110°c then after that your starting to over heat. Also you need a thermostat as coolant works better under pressure as it keeps its flow, removing the thermost lowers the pressure and makes water flow worse. Just invest in a lower opening temp thermostat.
I am excited for marcus to turbo his car especially if he chooses to just get a cx racing manifold and throw on a better turbo (even a stock subi or evo one) and just make a custom down pipe.... that would be a cheaper and possibly better alternative. also i have heard that miata 6 speeds from an nb are a little stronger so it is probably a better idea to try and start thinking about sourcing one... also sourcing some axles because once that engine is forged you will probably break a few

Never remove the hole thermostat , just cut the two legs off and take the spring part back. It needs a bit restrictions to give water in radiator time to cool before entering back to motor
You can run it the oem way and put a bypass switch. So lets say daily use. Switch it off and stays oem mode.. drift mode.. turn it on to bypass the thermostat switch and keep it constantly cool. Also deleting the thermostat can be a bad idea because you wont let enough time for the water/coolant to cool down cause its constantly flowing. Get a thermostat that opens earlier rather than oem is better than a delete. Maybe up the rad cap pressure too to prevent boiling but im pretty sure the mishys come with a upgraded one compare to oem.

I had that clutch in my 1.6 Its good for about 15000 miles of very aggressive driving. for daily driving wont last much longer.
