    I just bought a Bronco in black. I didn’t know Barmah was such a well known product. I’ve been looking for a leather hat and this is exactly what I was looking for. I’m a new subscriber.

    Well, having attained the age of 69 years young, and having worn baseball caps for the last too many years, I felt it was time to try something different. I was at the annual RV show in Grand Rapids , Michigan. Among all the hundreds of RVs on display, there was a small booth set up with an Australian guy ( sorry, didn't catch his name), selling these really cool Barmah hats. I had had my eyes on this style for a bit of time, but I felt that now was the time at my one day at the show. The gentleman was extremely careful on getting the correct size for me that I would be happy with, hopefully for a good number of remaining years. As I could only afford one of these magnificent hats, I decided on a beautiful #1018. I hopefully can get the "squashy kangaroo cooler" down the road sometime. Having discovered Expedition Jack's channel, I look forward to applying some Outback leather seal shortly. Your videos are very informative, and I hope you have time to produce some more of them as you travel the world, wearing your Barmah hat, of course. It would be great to see how some of the other Barmah hats stand up to your adventures as well. Thanks again. Jim, Holland Michigan, USA

    I thought these hats were pretty indestructible... but I destroyed one a couple years ago. Unbeknownst to me, I left it in the car, and it baked in the sun. It shrank and shrivelled. I'd like to stretch it, but I just got a NEW barmah hat. So I'll keep this one good, and try to re-furbish my old one for camping.
    I use Skidmore's Leather Cream on mine. Has oils and beeswax in it. But I'm not sure if I should be conditioning the underside of the hat or just the smooth side.

    Thank you for this video. I bought that same hat because of your video review of the hat, and I love it. I also ordered the Barmah conditioner.... its a cream that comes in a little can, and works quite nice, but I am definitely going to look into ordering that spray.... looks very easy to use.

    I have a Barmah hat cow hind and used Neatsfoot oil to condition it, word of warning neatsfoot oil will condition the hat, but keep it away from the hat band, the band is glued on and the neatsfoot oil will react with the glue, maybe the glue is made from cow bones? But the oil made the glue expand and start to leak out from underneath the band.

      Can’t do that on my Barmah hat, the band is also kangaroo and is glued to the hat so that would need waterproofing too.

    Jack, I just brought my Barmah Hat 3 weeks ago in Sydney. Mine is model 1018. I have been wearing it around in New Zealand since then. I love it. Now I am back in Canada. I like to continue wearing it and I need to waterproof it. You know in Ontario, we get freezing rain and wet snow in spring. How can I order the waterproof & Condition spray? I cannot find it in their website.

    Hello, unfortunately this product is not sold in Italy, do you have any other product to recommend? I have left the hat in the car and the sun has really faded it.

    I bought one of these hats at a fair, been looking into waterproofing it. Yet, it seems that isn't available in the US. The only thing Barmah provides is the conditioning cream. Sent in a question to them about whether it actually waterproofs or not. I know this is most likely the dumbest question, but would you ever condition or waterproof the inside/underside of the hat brim or crown?

    • @ExpeditionJack
      @ExpeditionJack  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You could also use nixwax that waterproofs but doesn't condition. I only did the outer it sokes in all the way so I would not bother doing the inner
