Great video, Ruben! Thanks for the shout-out! Excellent comparison between the scan as it came from the lab and your very nice color grading. I noticed that you made it a bit warmer and emphasized the golden sunlight. LOVE your image compositions and that slight offset in some shots, (for example 0:39 ) making it so much more interesting.
Thanks for sharing your experiences and great footage!

Thanks Christian, I did want the color of the film to reflect what I saw with my eyes. So you are correct, I did enhance the warm tones on the image.
      Thanks for your kind words.

Ruben my friend you really knocked this one out of the park! Your choice of location and subject matter made this film very interesting to watch. I enjoyed it so much I was sad to see it end.😊. Thank you for your valuable analysis of the Nikon R10 camera as well as your - costs verses resolution - calculations regarding formats. Also I’m amazed at your vastly improved results in color grading. Very impressive!
Your scene choices, composition and edit points are superb. Also your narrative is very well organized, thorough, relevant and interesting to anyone who may be interested in film technology. Your voice over style is relaxed, natural and easy to understand. Ruben your knowledge and ambition are an inspiration to me. You make me want to get off my butt and put on my own thinking cap! Thank you for this valuable contribution to contemporary film arts. I look forward to spending some time with you my friend.

Thank you so much for the kind words and points of view Jon. I really enjoy shooting all kind of cameras and making this videos, I guess I transmit that.
Put on that thinking cap! You have a lot of knowledge and experience you can share. I'm just starting with the cameras I own and you have cameras that I don't have. Hopefully we can shoot something with those cameras some day too. I'll stop by to say hi one of these days.

Actually, to me your footage looks great. I think you did a fine job of color grading it. I agree about 16mm being the best option for filming these days. I have many 8mm, Super 8mm & 16mm cameras, however, I’m excited that I finally have a Nikon R10 Super coming soon for projects intended for that format. I really enjoy this channel sir!

Thanks! I like the footage too. Some conditions were not ideal, but for the most part I'm happy with the results.
16mm is the way to go if we want a better image. S8 looks great these days, but 16 looks better, and it costs basically the same.
Congrats on your new R10. What a great camera! I hope to see some of those projects in the future. I'm glad you enjoy the channel, that makes me want to keep making videos. Thanks for watching.

Nice footage. I do a bit of Super 8 myself and understand your comments about preferring 16mm. I’m considering moving to 16mm myself.

Hi Ruben! I really enjoyed your video and I recently purchased a Nikon r10. I am curious if you did any post production stabilization? Your shots look so steady. I was also wondering if this is a 4K scan from negativeland? Thank you so much!

Hi Lucy, tanks for watching the video! Congrats on your new R10. I did stabilize the video using the warp stabilization tool in Premiere Pro. I just got the 2k scan from Negativeland, that's enough for me at the moment.
I shot another film at the rodeo last year using the R10, but that time I had my tripod with me. The result was great. I didn't have to stabilize the shots, for that reason the motion looks much nicer. Image stabilization can create a "jelly effect" that makes film look like video if over done. It can be seen on some shots in the Coney Island film.
Here is the film at the rodeo if you want to watch it:
