      I was in the same boat , had no real steady job until I was 23, now I'm 26 and starting my own business.
      Look at what your hobby is, what area of knowledge you have that you can utilize.
      Find a job related to it and learn all the skills you need on the job.
      Work your ass off and become the best in your team, find out what you are good at and stick with it, overcome
      obstacles, things you are bad at.
      Always be on time, always do a job well done and set the standards for yourself to highest level.
      Within the last 3 years I had been promoted 3 times, that's one promotion and a bigger monthly paycheck a year.
      If you you are the best in your team and you don't get promoted, look for another job in another company.
      Stick to that and you'll make a decent living in no time and from there you can use the skills you learned to become your own boss and really make a lot of money (if you want to)

      Yay, U;n 56 and only now am I getting to understand life :) These young people are understandably bored, a) because they are mostly not motivated by money, and that's not a judgement, but he is or used to be very motivated by money (again, no judgement). A very, very interesting talk, but normally, that audience, and that speaker would not normally have ever met !

    In case you are like me, who forget to make notes of the 10 commandments JB said... It's here:
    (1) Thou shall not think things are okay just because things are transparent.
    * The scene you get into may not be as good as it seems like.
    * Check your own ethics and integrity by gut
    (2) Thou shall trust the feeling of your stomach
    * Listen to that feeling
    (3) Thou shall commit yourself to fail elegantly
    * Protect your down side
    * Spread the risks with others
    * It's rare to get it right the first time
    (4) Thou shall commit yourself to succeed wildly
    * When you get right, understand what's the right moves and process
    (5) Thou shall know average sucks
    * Things working well = no change (no pain)
    * Your own standard leads to passion
    (6) Thou shall commit thou-self to master specialized skills
    * JB's method of learning how to write books
    * Model masters and copy and learn from them
    * First thing to do: I want to do this, what are the skills I need? Master the craft, become a force of nature.
    (7) Thou shall not emotionally invested in thou's goals
    * Goals = side poles, serve for the vision, logically based
    * Vision = emotionally based
    * Problem: set goals too low.
    * Goals show where you want to go
    (8) Thou shall cut all thee
    * Do too many things one time
    * Do give yourself a way out
    * Go all in, take the risk
    * Take out options
    (9) Thou shall not buy into your own BS stories
    * Most people buy into their BS and get nothing they want!
    * See things as they are , not worse than they are!
    * Get honest with yourself: what you know, what you don't know
    * Get rid of your stories
    * You are like a GPS: where you are, where you go (vision)
    (10) Thou shall commit to identify their "WHY"
    * The secret to become successful
    * Money won't take you far
    * What is the deepest level cause to be successful
    * Get deep
    * JB: Kids
    * Never give up
    * Most people give up too soon
    JB on money:
    * money is a solve to problems
    * money matters
    * money is single most important things for 1) food 2) shelters 3) health

    This guy is so passionate and has so much presence and charisma. Would do very well in Hollywood if he ever made a go of it. A really good speaker. Questions from the audience left something to be desired however. They could for example have asked " what we're you doing and thinking when you were our age (early 20's) ? " What would you do differently if you were to do it all over again "? " Where do you think you got your self belief and confidence from?" Missed opportunities.

      I see why your surname is Bozo. You can relate to this clown. I am from LI, I worked the honest side of Wall St in that era. My brother worked for an outfit similar to Belfort’s. I think one of the reasons that the room is so non-responsive is that his message is not really targeted to them. I have heard his talks before and he usually attracts people who have fallen on hard times or cannot get ahead in life. Here, he speaks to future cabinet members, professors, members the upper class and other successful people in the making. Those guys ARE on track, they HAVE the right story. Thus, they do not really need his advice from their point of view.
    Another reason is that Oxford encourages critical thinking and many audience members may simply be thinking about and analysing his words. That does not mean they disagree, but they may be busy mulling it over.

    There is nothing better than listening to someone who has failed and had learned from it. Not many were as spectacular as his. We can't forgive him for his misdeeds, but we can learn from the realities of life he describes. The most important of his ten messages is to be the best at something or at least as good as you can possibly be. People will pay good money for your wisdom.

    That's a completely fair comment about climate change. The fact he doesn't believe it doesn't change his attitude towards making the planet a better place. He still has the morality and desire to change how things are and work towards a more sustainable future. He's right in saying why should it matter and I agree with it's what we should be doing anyway, regardless of the reasons why.
    It's the whole thing of assigning labels, I think. Everyone has to have a label now. Straight, gay, man, woman, believer, non-believer. Everyone wants to belong to something. Sadly, I've seen this divide more than anything else. Petty arguments over topics that don't really matter, in the big scheme of things. We should already be doing it without all of the debate and nonsense attached to it.

    You can tell that drug addiction is a major problem in society in the UK by the applause given as Jordan stated the length of his sobriety. Who'd think that these prats in the audience would even care to know or acknowledge such realities as most surely have other things on their minds like what kind of tea will be served afterwards and whether they will wear a tie or a silk dress to the mixer later that night. The little shits impressed me. Now only if Jordan added, "inherit all that you can in life from your parents and gain influence by association".
