Go and ask at least a 100 Americans about Satyajit Ray or even about Lagaan (it was Oscar nominated) and see if they have ever heard of any of it. Then ask them about RRR. There’s a difference between the reach of a mainstream action blockbuster like RRR and Apu trilogy.
