Lookin good! A few years back someone told us about POR 15. You paint it over surface rust. It is moisture activated so it seals the rust in and stops it from spreading. It drys hard as a rock and will take the abuse. I have two flatbeds painted with it and one dump bed. I’m planning on taking the bed off of dump truck and painting it with POR 15. It fades quickly so we top coat it with rustoleum and keep a rattle can handy for touch ups. Apparently hot rodders have been using this for years on old rusty frames.
Alex I agree with you, visibility is a huge issue! The more lights you can get on that truck the better! Even down here in the South where I don't get snow the day I got my dumper all lighted up I noticed immediately that other vehicles slowed down and took notice when the lights were blaring. Lights will be your number one best friend to keep everyone involved safe and paying attention! My motto was you can't over do it when it comes to lighting. Good job bro, you're def doing the right thing! Love your work, you seem really chill and smart. Peace my friend and keep yourself safe out there!
I’m hoping so. I’ve got a line on a plow for my 87 one ton dump truck. Rear wheel drive only so I’m Leary on how well it will work out. Either way the price is right on the plow though.
Please show us the reveal video when you get lights put on. Hope you are heat shrinking and either solder or good quality splices. Please show you cable wiring that you use for all your lights. Really love your new shop. Looks nice. Got shop envy!
Looks great. I give my Cat 262D skid loader a "rattle can restoration" every year. I don't use it in my business, but I think it's just a pride of ownership thing. And cleaning up light surface rust prevents bigger fixes in a few years.
Where I am there is a local Mobile undercoating guy who does trucks with a mixture of oil and fluid film. the stuff is pitch black so it makes things look great and to do multiple vehicles ends up being around $100/piece which isn't too bad considering how much it saves in salt damage.
@@nickenslandscapingexcavating yeah the guy that does it around here has a nice little niche going for him. it's hard to find people that will do it but I was impressed with how efficient the process was. 20 foot paint job. An ther words from 20 ft looks good.. Listen take the time to sand, prime and bondo pitted surface. Paint shines on flat areas. Pitted areas don't reflect light to shine . Not being critical just advice from 43 yrs experience.
For us it just isn’t worth the investment to make it “perfect” when it just gets beat up and needs painted every 2 years. Newer beds I agree with you but for an old bed it just simply isn’t worth it for a contractor.
Another great product to use to clean them is called Grease Lightning. This stuff can wash clothing and get stains out but also is hard enough to do stuff like that
1st of love your videos, been learning a lot, 2ndly you could paint or wash your bed of your trucks or whatever you want cause you've worked your A$$ off to get where you are keep it up........
Got it to bare metal you mean bare rust lol that’s all gonna peal right off no primer either pretty poor advice man not to mention that paint also fades in a year should of went epoxy primer and raptor bed liner
The sides were as bare as they were going to get without sand blasting. The headache rack wasn’t prepped the same but that wears off shortly anyway with material being in and out everyday
Nickens Lawn & Landscape LLC before I got into landscaping I did autobody for 4 years don’t need to sandblast really but is best there’s even rusty metal primer don’t get me wrong it looks a hell out a lot better but look at rusty metal primer and raptor liner next time shoot a block in the bed it won’t crack or chip the liner another good one is kbs coatings and look into fluid film
Truck looks good 👍👍
Thank you 😊 👍🏼
Looks good, nice shop
Thank you!! It’s great! Still a lot of organizing to do 👍🏼
I know I'm late to the video but you can always use your headache rake of the dumpbeds so there up out of the way but still visible
It is a SWEET TRUCK
GOOD JOB
Thank you!! Feels good to hear that lol. It was a lot of work but I think it was worth it 👍🏼
Looks sharp man!
Thank you William 👍🏼

I was told about that but was worried about the fading. Does it stay looking pretty good with the rattle can?

It will be fine just have to know your limits. I plowed with a 2wd for 4 years. And will be back at it this winter 👍🏼
Nice work on the truck man

Yes it spins while you are spraying
I will have to get one of those!

Amen to that! I mans machine says a lot about him. Some will think that is just weird but I know you know exactly what I’m talking about 👍🏼
Looking good painting our old beds always make a huge difference. I usually thin it just a little bit and run it through a paint gun.
Jacob Godar I wanted to do that but went this route because I didn’t have a good place to spray it.. I was worried about overspray
Nickens Lawn & Landscape LLC yeh I have always done beds and stuff outside. If it’s a single stage paint it can get everywhere if your not careful.
Yeah that’s what I need to do next time. Appreciate the advice man 👍🏼
Add 1 oz penetrol to paint..it goes on so much smoother..world of difference
I will keep that in mind for next time. Thank you for the advice 👍🏼

I do clean it once a month. My dump trailer. One year old, but sure we should paint it when needed.

Very good to know! If you have any laying around bring it when you come by and we will compare 👍🏼👌🏼
You should mount those strobes on the top of the dump bed near the cab, out of the way and much more visable from the back
Yeah that’s what I’m thinking! Going to have to make some kind of bracket 👍🏼
When 3500 bed going black
Jake Kaneo I don’t think i will paint it black but my future beds will most likely be black 👍🏼
It look great on the bed. It make a big different. It a cheap way to do it........
thanks Gene! Appreciate it! Yeah it’s a cheap easy way to have it looking good 👍🏼
Id love to see a shop and equpment tour!

That what we did every year back when my dad owned company now I got dump trailer and two pick up and open trailer
Very nice! Every year??? I don’t want to do it that often lol. Where do you live?
Does the roll on paint hold up a little better than spray? About to repaint my landscape trailer and now I’m debating the best method
What was time + material?
are you plowing or salting with this one
What is the paint you guys use?
Zero tip it’s just ok. Get the 360degrees tip it’s the best
Does that spin while you spray? Sounds cool!

Whare did you get your decals from?
A local place near me. Most adverting shops should be able to print them up
Did you do a cab swap?
You should've rhino lined the whole thing for it to last forever
I just don’t like the dull look.. I like clean and shiny lol
