Hinata really hitting us in the feels this ep. This episode really summed up Haikyuu perfectly! The last 3 eps are over on Patreon! www.patreon.com/carlie_and_ange
Heyy guyss, i would like to give you a recommendation to react The First Slam Dunk Movie by Takehiko Inoue. It's one of the best sports manga and anime of all time. This show is on same level with Haikyuu and maybe arguably better than Haikyuu. In fact, the author of Haikyuu was inspired by Takehiko Inoue (Slam Dunk Writer's). The animation is on another level, It's very good at giving the impression of real basketball movements. More importantly, I want to know from your perspective about The First Slam Dunk Movie. I hope you read this and make my wish come true 🙏🤞. Thank You
The scene that Ange was referring to was episode 8 of season 1 when Noya came back. Noya said that what gets the most cheers from the crowd was a super receive! And we go to this episode showing the whole crowd cheering when Hinata got that receive! Goes back full circle! Love these little details in Haikyu!
Another reason why I love Kita's line of: "I am built upon the small things I do everyday and the results are no more than a byproduct of that." is because for me, this is the essence of Haikyuu. You may think that stories like this, being a sports anime, always focus on the outcome of the match but Haikyuu is not like that. It's never about the end. It's about the journey. Like for Hinata, it's never about winning and losing. As what he said in episode 1, he just wants to stay in the court the longest and winning is just a result of that desire. :)
The joy is in playing. Facing challenges, hitting a wall, finding a solution and punching through it. There's value in the walls you haven't conquered yet and the harder the challenge the better it feels when you overcome it. In the words of the man himself: "It doesn't matter if you score the point, or if you can win your next match. The joy of beating the guy in front of you, of bringing out 200% of your potential... in that moment is everything."
Hinata doesn't wanna lose, though he is always happy he doesn't likes to lose either. He always super competitive with Kageyama or otger greater players
@Qumexx Right, but winning is never the point in and of itself. To Hinata wanting to win is natural, like wanting to eat or sleep, so it would make no season to have that as a 'goal'. Hinata keeps challenging Kageyama because Kageyama is the best player he knows and he knows besting him will mean he can stay on the court longer. All of the off the court matches are just facets of that, it's part of their rivalry. Hinata clearly doesn't wanna lose, but as the OP says, it's more tied to his desire to compete more than anything else: if he loses, he's off the court, so he can't lose. Losing means the end of playing volleyball, so he hates it. He doesn't hate to lose as a concept any more than anyone does, rather... it's not what I would call part of his characterization. Nobody wants to lose. So of course Hinata doesn't. But OP is correct: to Hinata winning isn't the point, PLAYING MORE is the point. Winning gets him there, so he's extra obsessed with doing what he can to win. It's a result of his goal to play longer, not a goal itself.
Yes! Akagi just never gets his credit, like I'm a Komori defender till I die (mainly against protagonist bias) but I think Akagi and Yaku share the second spot tbh.
Also, shout out for watching Sarah Pavan's reactions! Her reactions are some of my favorite alongside yours! And yeah, it was Noya who said that about the receive hyping up the crowd (to Hinata, actually!) back in S1, and it's a great callback you made there.
Absolutely love the shoutout to Sarah's reactions here. Out of all the Haikyuu reaction's i've watched (which are many) it's you guys and Sarah who somehow manage to immediately get so many of the callbacks and things that, for most would go straight over their heads/go unnoticed but make this series so damn great. It makes it connect to the watcher on such a more deeper level, and from the perspective of someone watching a reaction video makes the emotions so much more raw as well, which just leads to the best experience for everyone involved. Absolute win, u guys and her have the best react series' for this show on this platform. I may also be in the minority but Sarah's monologues about the volleyball and the prophetic visions of what's about to happen because of her wealth of knowledge about the sport just completely rounded it out too.
If I had to recommend them to watch another reactor I’d say Coach Donny. Since he’s a volleyball coach and animation teacher, rewatching Haikyuu through his eyes was MAGICAL to me. I love the hype and passionate reactions, but the knowledge Donny provides is pure gold. One of my favorite reactors
@@nauvir2046 Ah yes he's a fave of mine as well, volleyball coach plus art teacher is a great combo for insightful reactions in Haikyuu!!. I think he just happened to miss some stuff going on though they were mentioned in the comments section anyways.

It is the subtlety in the show that gets me... If you go back all the way back to the practice match against Date Tech, you can see Hinata diving for the ball or positioning himself to receive, but the ball never gets to him either because someone else's receives it, or hits the block but you can see he's reading the play. Same with Nationals, in the first match you see little by little how it's building up to this moment. They don't make a big deal out of it and if you blink you'll miss it, but it's all there... you can see Hinata's growth in the background. Man I love this show so much
i love how attentive you are to the story and characters, it makes this reaction series so much more fulfilling, exciting and fun. i've been waiting to see this reaction for a long time, and it didn't disappoint ❤

That whole rally was amazing and the reverse freak set of the twins on their first attempt was great. Inarizaki are such a fun team, I would be perfectly happy having a series just following them.
My absolute favorite moment of the whole series so far! 🧡😭 The payoff from the ball boy arc just hits me in the feels like a mack truck EVERY SINGLE TIME!! 😭😭 And then when Hinata lifts up everyone from almost total despair..? The parallels in this match are insane! I have rewatched the ball boy arc a few times now, and it’s crazy how much subtle information there is, that is mirrored in this match!
The reason Riseki, Inarizaki's pinch server, was booed before is that he played it safe and just handed the ball over to Karasuno instead of trying to actually score. If he'd gone all out and even if the serve had been out or into the net, they probably wouldn't have booed.
@@luka_haruHe’s explaining it, relax lmao. That’s how their school is, and even Riseki himself began to realize it because of the crowd/Atsumu. You have to put your heart on the field/court, otherwise you’re disrespecting your teammates and fans.
That's literallt oart of their whole system and motivation. Like they said we don't need memories. The fans doesn't care about what you did in the past if you don't give your best they will boo you. It all depends on your own mentality. Some will hate those crowds(like you, ange and her) and others will take it as a challange. Like mia didn't get booed, did he?
Hinata's moment is absolutely incredible. These Haikyuu moments somehow feel timeless. You can go back and watch them at any point in your life and they will go harder than the last time. I don't even know how the show does it. In the words on Ange, " It's absolutely mental !!! " . To me that scream by Hinata, " KAGEEEEEEEEEYAAAAAAMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! I am gonna tear up by the tike we get through with Haikyuu again. My 50th rewatch has been the best one so far thanks to you guys❤️❤️🥰
I'm not going to spoil anything, but this is just the beginning for Hinata. It's wild to think about it but it's true haha Genuinely one of the best MCs of all time and everything that's still to come for him until the end of Haikyu!! is absolutely generational and transformative. Can't wait for you guys to witness all of it :D Loved the reaction!
YOOO Sarah!, I love her player insights I remember being hyped when they mentioned a quote of a Coach in real life and she said, that was my Coach...like yo!
THIS IS one of hinata moments where i am sooooo proud of and having tears in my eyes telling myself that " i watch this boy grow and push trough all obstacles" and know, look where we are. My child, you deserve every moment of this episode
I really loved your reaction to Hinata's receive, especially Carlie IMMEDIATELY identifying that this was going to be the "ball boy moment", you guys are very in tune with the story beats, I love it ! Props to you, I think it is harder to get everything in the moment with the anime (I read the manga first so it's probably a different experience). And just as I said in a previous comment, the set-up/pay-off system in Haikyuu is just amazing, so rewarding ! A little piece of knowledge I'd like you to have is about the "appetite"/food metaphor from the Miya twins. It relates to another "moment" that is portrayed slightly differently in the manga and the anime. If you remember the first match of the Inter-High Prelims in S1, against Tokonami, at the end of the match (Episode 16 "Winners and Losers / Chapter 40 "The Victors and the Defeated"), Hinata gets a "moment" realizing they get to keep playing (since they won). In the manga, there is one more panel, in the next page, where the narration boxes say "The small beast, starved for victory, tasted it for the first time" (here if you want to see : fanfox.net/manga/haikyuu/v05/c040/1.html#ipg12). I think it goes well with the Miya metaphor, where having a first bite of something lights you up, makes you hooked and wanting more. Just like that "moment" we got (as with the Tsukki block on Ushijima, the Lev/Shibayama connection in the OAV, etc) makes the characters hooked on volleyball even more. Also, I liked you giving props to Heisuke Riseki (the pinch server that redeems himself in the first part of the episode) which most reactors omit for some reason. Very minor manga spoiler : he goes on to get the Best Server Award at Nationals in his 3rd year.
I haven't played Volleyball too much in my life, I still go to drop-ins now and again, but I gotta say that perfectly receiving a powerful spike always feels amazing! This episode gave me chills.
Sarah Pavan another reactor that’s done Haikyuu but also an Olympic Volleyball player so her insight is special in that way having played at the highest level in Volleyball
I think that whole rally with Hinata's awesome receive is THE best rally in the entire series so far. Sooo many incredible plays from all the different characters, it's crazy good. One of the most hype moments!
i love how almost noone notices that the twins did a minus tempo quick in reverse. samu setting and atsumu hitting :D that is so crazy and the show doesnt even make a fuss about it too.
Hinata is the soul of the team. The fuel they need to keep fighting. Just like his namesake he is the sun, the source of energy for his teammates. Anyway, Inarizaki's libero is a true monster. Anytime I rewatching Haikyuu, I appreciate liberos more and more ❤
I've mentioned this before, but while season 4 animation did my boy Asahi dirty, imo Hinata got a big upgrade - he just looks full of boundless joy for volleyball, while also building on his overwhelming NEED to compete at the highest level
Although Inarizaki "stole" Karasuno's uniform color, freak quick attack, and a wholesome defensive captain... Hinata stole Inarizaki's banner this episode. While the rest of Karasuno was stuck on failing to score on that long rally, Hinata momentarily celebrates his perfect receive, but quickly moves on to being back on the court. No dwelling. Get that next "moment"
Ange is so me!! He's watching people watch Haikyu now as I've done for Sarahz ayolaxone and you guys!! Watch Ayolaxones reaction Ange, his fav character is tanaka too!! As we've waited for you to watch s04e16, you will do too xD
I love the connections Ange makes! Some of them I actually never thought about even after watching so many times, like the one between Atsumu and Noya in the last episode.
when people talk about liberos in haikyuu, they usually talk about noya or yaku. but you have to sing michinari akagi (inarizaki libero) his praises man. he frustrates me the most among all other receivers/liberos in haikyuu
Yes! Akagi is awesome and a lifesaver for his team. I think Hayato from Shiratorizawa was actually pretty good too, Watari was good in season 1 and then suddenly in season 2 he just didn't do as much and most receives went to other players, mainly Iwaizumi. The one that I put lowest in terms of recurring teams is Sakunami but he's also the only first year starting libero so he'll get his time to improve.
My favorite episode of Haikyuu. The character growth pay off was amazing and the realization that it's not Hinata's athletic ability that is Hinata's talent. It's his passion, joy and love for his team and volleyball. Hinata MVP.
Loved watching you two get hyped for our ray of sunshine, Hinata! I love how payoffs are done in this show, and honestly I think Hinata is one of the best protagonists I've watched so far in anime. He's someone I feel a strong desire to see succeed, and I'm so happy to see you two so invested in his story too. 💙
S4 is just hinata's peak as character and as a player as well.. pure satisfying to watch it after all the struggle and the downfall of him in the beginning of the season
Man , when i tell you i feel this ep in my bones every single time , hinata 's growth shine it's light on me as well , 6 years ago , i entered the field i am studying now basically on a wim ,simply as a strategic choice for future job opportunities and cause i didn't have a dream i specifically wanted to pursue, didn't even know what i was doing half of the time , didn't have the academic skills sets needed for the job , didn't have the same passion for it some of my peers does , nor the hunger , to say that i felt " left behind " is a major understatement, to the point where the process of learning itself started to feel scary , every new info stopped feeling like a plus but a minus , my mind started focusing on the fact of " why does everyone know this and i didn't already " crushing shame more then " oh now i know this , sweet " joy of learning, the feeling of immense incompetence crushed every joy of every new experience i had during that learning process, every impulse to do some extra work on my skills, and thus every chance of progress halted , i had to do some heavy cognitive rewiring to get my self out of this , to convince my brain that the journey to competence will obviously start from a realisation of incompetence , so it won't feel nice at first ( start of season 4) ,but the negative feeling of that realisation should take over what comes next , that a good healthy consistent journey is what takes us to our goal , so perfecting the journey in itself should be the goal , and man was that a lot of work and it still is , so those of you ,like hinata, who genuinely are in it for the journey journey, whose life purpose is to keep going on it , who consider the result just a means to prolong it , you who simply genuinely love what you do day in and day out, you should be utterly thankful to who you are as person, cause the rest of us , the " dreamless " bunch lived a much more colorless , pragmatic, almost meaningless ( it FEELS that way even if it isn't) life , you found your meaning in your dream way earlier the we find ours
I was literally waiting for this episode reaction all dayyyy longgg and it didn't disappoint!!! I like your reactions, can't wait to see the finale with youuu 🥰🥰
The thing is that the other coaches and players were right about hinata. He needed to develop himself to help his team more and have more worth on the court. The show isnt about hinata proving them wrong, its more just about proving himself.
rewatching this for the umpteenth times and i'm still crying at hinata's receive moment. not only he is small, he is still looked down and how shiratorizawa coach reduce his effort to only "you are useless without kageyama" the rejection feeling, the despair he going through don't make him falter. i love hinata so much. 💙
10:23 This my #1 favorite moment in the entire series so far. This is such a satisfying payoff for the second hand embarrassment during the ball boy arc. 🤣
The biggest point of this story is that for the first time, Hinata was able to successfully receive from a spiker who is one of the five-finger players in the country and would probably be a three-finger player if he was in good shape. In other words, he couldn't receive from a powerful spiker like Bokuto. Alan's spike was able to receive. Although he was not successful at summer training camp, he was able to receive at pseudo-youth training camp by utilizing his experience as a ball boy.
I love how this episode explains the "We dont need memories" banner. It sounds incredibly arrogant as in "we are not here to have fun, we are here to win this shit" but in fact it means "We dont sleep on our laurels. We are going to show our best every single day" Also the crazy thing about that recieve - not only did Hinata recieve a spike, he recieved a spike from a fifth best spiker in the country on a direct hit with one blocker. It is absolutely mad. Anyways I cant wait for Ange to yeet the table next episode :D
u guys really did atsumu dirty he was the real MVP sure hinata moment was more chills cause he the main character but strictly as an impact on the game atsumu was on a different level this ep
Bro Hinata compared him to another character he doesn't have this epic moments like them so give him a credit..and it's not bc he just mc he trained he struggle to get his pay off
I remember when I was watching this every week as soon as it airs in Crunchyroll in the morning I can't contain my screams and claps during hype moments like Hinata's moment right here and my brother would be disturbed and wake up from his sleep (≧▽≦)
Your faces! I love it 😂 That moment allways makes me emotional. It was made so perfect for Hinata ❤ And then the twins respecting him.... Spoiler I think it's awesome how Hinata began being just used for his attack power yet in his profesional carrier he is known for his defense power. I mean, he pretty much is a libero who spikes. 'The ninja' 😂

Can't wait for you guys to witness all of it :D Loved the reaction!
YOOO Sarah!, I love her player insights
I remember being hyped when they mentioned a quote of a Coach in real life and she said, that was my Coach...like yo!
The Arie Sallinger coach?
@@egomana9329 No it was the coach whose quote was mentioned at the start of Season 1 Episode 4.
Noo I’m crying again. Hinata scream KAGEYAMAAAAAAAAAAA always get me shivers everytime!😭😭😭
THIS IS one of hinata moments where i am sooooo proud of and having tears in my eyes telling myself that " i watch this boy grow and push trough all obstacles" and know, look where we are. My child, you deserve every moment of this episode
When y'all started clapping over "nice receive" 10:48 😭😭
NEVER UNDERESTIMATE A PERSON WHO LEARNED TO BE A BALL BOY
the name of inarzaki libero is Akagi(most underrated in this match)
I love how ange was watching sarah & adam's reactions as well.. he really is a die hard haikyu fan now 🥳🥳🥳
in case of you don’t realise how insane that quick was, it’s like Hinata setting the Weirdo Quick to Kageyama
This episode gave me chills.
i love sarah's reaction! she's a legend
Who's Sarah?
@@itumelengmotsamai676 she's an olympian beach volleyball player who reacts to haikyuu!!!
Love your reaction to this! That Hinata moment is so incredible. Even though they lost the point, he was so happy and brought everyone's spirits back.
i love how almost noone notices that the twins did a minus tempo quick in reverse. samu setting and atsumu hitting :D that is so crazy and the show doesnt even make a fuss about it too.
Sarah and Adam NEED to do a live with you two. I would watch the heck outta that!
OMG, Sarah’s mentioned! I love her reactions as well.
Lowkey convinced that majority of Haikyuu reactors despise Akagi (Inarizaki libero) and its hilarious
Yes, like they can't deny he's awesome but they just despise him anyway 😂
when people talk about liberos in haikyuu, they usually talk about noya or yaku. but you have to sing michinari akagi (inarizaki libero) his praises man. he frustrates me the most among all other receivers/liberos in haikyuu
I've been waiting for this episode's reaction for so long
My favorite episode of Haikyuu. The character growth pay off was amazing and the realization that it's not Hinata's athletic ability that is Hinata's talent. It's his passion, joy and love for his team and volleyball. Hinata MVP.
this was the Tsukki moment for Hinata and I love it so much! one of my favorite scenes of Haikyuu of all time
The way Carlie said this show is about Hinata proving coaches wrong got me 🤣 I mean she ain't wrong
This the best scene in the show can’t wait to watch this later!
I have seen many reactions but your reactions are priceless. I am waiting for the next 2 episodes.❤
ange talking like he wouldn't boo bad plays in soccer games 😆
Appreciate the uploads guys ❤
My top 1 moments in all haikyuu period!!!
Love that you watch other reactors😂 true fan
13:24 Ange sounded like an sports announcer there 😂😂
S4 is just hinata's peak as character and as a player as well.. pure satisfying to watch it after all the struggle and the downfall of him in the beginning of the season
🐈 is behind you sometimes,😸💕
We all know tsukki was covering his laugh with that towel
Funny receiving a spike from Aran is the same as receiving a spike from ushijima. It's just that Aran is right handed
Ahah! The episode I was waiting for!
최고의 에피소드중 하나
The thing is that the other coaches and players were right about hinata. He needed to develop himself to help his team more and have more worth on the court. The show isnt about hinata proving them wrong, its more just about proving himself.
YEAAAAA CRYING ALREADY MY BABY BEST BOYYY🥹🧡
rewatching this for the umpteenth times and i'm still crying at hinata's receive moment. not only he is small, he is still looked down and how shiratorizawa coach reduce his effort to only "you are useless without kageyama" the rejection feeling, the despair he going through don't make him falter. i love hinata so much. 💙
4:48 I feel you Ange. That is the most angry I got in the series, legit cussed him out for that one line 🤣
10:23 This my #1 favorite moment in the entire series so far. This is such a satisfying payoff for the second hand embarrassment during the ball boy arc. 🤣
13:38 it wasn't even for me but daaaammmnnn I felt that 😂😂
Cat timestamps 😺
3:37
10:37
10:54+
The other reactions I really liked where the volleyball coach ones. He explains very well how it is in game. And it was so extremely insightful
Shout out to Sarah & Adam great reactions and breakdowns from a professional volleyball player/coach perspective 🙏❤
I'm excited for the next episode!!!
Bruh when ange cant contain himself he just starts placing things in different places 😂😂😂
Best moment in the series
I’ve been waiting for this one 🤩
We are going to show our best every single day"
Also the crazy thing about that recieve - not only did Hinata recieve a spike, he recieved a spike from a fifth best spiker in the country on a direct hit with one blocker. It is absolutely mad. Anyways I cant wait for Ange to yeet the table next episode :D
u guys really did atsumu dirty he was the real MVP sure hinata moment was more chills cause he the main character but strictly as an impact on the game atsumu was on a different level this ep
Bro Hinata compared him to another character he doesn't have this epic moments like them so give him a credit..and it's not bc he just mc he trained he struggle to get his pay off
it's not MVP for the game but MVP for the episode
Hinata shines again and again!! I love his continuous development.
This is my episode I love it here god I love good writers Furudate always slays
The next two episodes can't come fast enough!
I remember when I was watching this every week as soon as it airs in Crunchyroll in the morning I can't contain my screams and claps during hype moments like Hinata's moment right here and my brother would be disturbed and wake up from his sleep (≧▽≦)
Everytime I watched this episode, I tend to get emotional to see the growth of Hinata ❤😭
Haikyuu and your lie in April both are about to finish kinda feeling sad lol your haikyuu reactions were the reason I got hooked up to this channel
My favorite episode in the series
Dude I cannot do a back roll for the life of me
It is like when Kuroko when fight Akashi. You do not need light for hope...YOU make that light yourself for that hope.
Your faces! I love it 😂
That moment allways makes me emotional. It was made so perfect for Hinata ❤
And then the twins respecting him....
Spoiler
I think it's awesome how Hinata began being just used for his attack power yet in his profesional carrier he is known for his defense power. I mean, he pretty much is a libero who spikes. 'The ninja' 😂
It's Hikyuu, every aspects of volleyball are enjoyable, even booing has meaning.
Carlie, your antagonism against the coaches is insane 😂 knowing how all the coaches helped hinata being where he is today
I love you guys so much I’m gonna cry. You make me so happy❤❤❤🥹
you just dont get the feeling you get when watching Haikyu in any other sports anime, the character development, the love and attachment u have, you just dont get that in any other sports anime
