Talk about memories! I was an 54E NBC NCO back in the 70's before I got my commission. I have logged thousands of miles on the ol M151A2 MUTT's. Thanks for the posting. You have done a great job. It made my day.
Wow, that brought back some memories. None of our jeeps looked that good. Our configuration was a bit different. Seem to remember both the receive-only antenna being behind the driver, not on the side. that withstanding, all of our canvas was much rattier. Ours were scratched up, dented and in some cases, had holes in it from Lebanon. Good stuff.
100% original body, radios & and engine. Very few reproduction parts like the set cushions were used in the restoration. Most MUTT's were cut or crushed, some were spared.
@estradalex Nice 151, I used to drive them all the time in the Army, as well as the M35A2s, I worked in the motor pool. MOS was 64 Charlie - driver, so basically I drove what ever they needed me too, all the to 5 ton, including APC. Am very glade you have one in such fine shape, I have a pic of me standing behind the one I drove on computer, brings back memories, thanks for the video, am a 10 year veteran. Paul.
LOL ok I do not remember my jeep ever being that clean . Yes I was all over that puppy from to back top to bottom . Nice Canvas kit better then the plastic ones for sure . Never had the front winter shield for mine . lots of things adapted from other branches like the snorkel kit . The slave cable adapted up front looks like a APC slave adapter . Bit of over kill . passenger seat forward cover off hook up and away you go . 1 pin and 4 clips . Cant believe you have the NBC gear on there . Can not remember what they called it . Tester that is ? seen some rubber on the hand brakes mine was just metal . Anyways thanks for the walk down memory lane . Nice ride .
65 MPH, I never had mine out of the neighborhood yet, let alone that fast...LOL but I have the Straight M151 with A1 and A2 parts added to it. Yours looks great, and seems to run and shift just fine.
I drove one of those back in late 60s like67-68-69. It was ok then when I was in GERMANY. Then in 74-80 with Florida National Guard. I miss the old days then. Now I am 72 years old ha ha ha.
Drove an earlier model years ago. Still have a US Army Military driver's license to legally drive m-151’s, a1, a2 & a3. The speedometer only went to 45-mph. All were 4-speed transmissions.
@ricardoeldelmustang It's a "Chemical Detection Unit" The first Jeep in the Convoy would carry this unit, works off a sealed battery making it portable or 24V from vehicle, pumps air through a radioactive sensor and when nerve agents are in the ambient air it will trigger an alarm to indicate use of gas masks were necessary. the alarm is tested at 1:11.
M43 Chemical Agent Automatic Alarm. My USAR unit trained in NBC a good bit and used up some batteries. Non-rechargeable and disposable, I cut one open once. It was full of D-cell batteries.
que excelente carro tienes ahi!!! la reconstruccion esta practicamente perfecta, parece realmente salido de la fabrica. Te felicito, cuida ese mutt que no creo que haya muchos asi en esas condiciones. nuevamente felicidades por tu 4x4.
@estradalex WOW, that´s amazing, i own an m151, but i dont have that, i dot really think i will get to need it jajaja, but it´s a very impresive item, cool mutt of your´s, congratulations.
I'm curious about buying a restoring one of these. I've been offered a 1976, and the motor is running perfectly. Are there any good websites/forums where I can get info on the restoration process? Thanks!
You should get around 15 MPG. I don't use mine as a daily driver so it has never been an issue. I'm sure that you can replace the engine to a modern one and the electrical system to 12V, but why?? It will be considered sacrilege to most collectors/restorers, including myself Haha. Good luck! They were built from 1959 to the late 70's.
0:50 S.Korean army still uses that style radio in Battalion~ARMY HQ. And no radio for almost all trucks in korean army. Only hand radio and backpack radio for all situations.
HOLA, ACABO DE COMPRAR UNO IGUAL A ESTE PERO LE FALTA MUCHO POR RESTAURAR, ENCONTRE EN INTERNET UNA PAGINA QUE AL PARECER TIENE TODAS LAS REFACCIONES, INCLUSO EL MOTOR. EL TUYO ESTA INCREIBLE MUCHAS FELICIDADES.
What's that system under the passenger side dashboard? What ever it is, it started rattling about a month ago. Sounds like some sort of a fan grinding on the cylinder casing.
@ocbountyhunter Angel? I guess you mean "Angle Head Flashlight". Yes it's original G.I. issue. The M16 is a replica, but what do I know, you seem to be the expert!
The reason is 2 fold, Mainly budget (if they dont spend then they get less next time around) the other reason is that the battlefield is evolving and new threats come forth all the time. IED's for example forced the retirment of the humvee early because of its flat bottom and lack of explosive defense. These old trucks dont have the storage, Off road capabilities, Weight, Power, or modularity to operate on todays battlefield. We have a lot more equipment needing to be hauled around compared to 1970's. Also US military doctrine changes about every 20 years because of advances in combat research and new tech, So we need to keep up with the times.
Hi! I had one just like this one ...! well not as nice as this one in South America, and I was wondering if you could help me to find one for sale here in the US, I've been looking and I can't find any! Great Job with this little mutt! Wow ! That engine sounds perfect!
Suerte!
great memories ❣️ of the past, realy gives pleasure to see such astonishing things being kept with so much care nd love, great job.

54E here as well.
Drove on of those in the service, great little vehicles. Went through anything.
Very nice, brings back memories. First stick shift I ever drove, and that was in 1986
Wow, that brought back some memories.

Amazing, looks as new as the day it originally rolled off the line.
What a perfect originally military jeep this is? Love it very much.

Wow memories.. I drove for a co in one of these ...operator of two radios... Company and battalion... In Germany... 1975
65 MPH, I never had mine out of the neighborhood yet, let alone that fast...LOL but I have the Straight M151 with A1 and A2 parts added to it. Yours looks great, and seems to run and shift just fine.
It is in much better condition than any I drove....
Wow ! Wow! You sir deserve an award!

So muss ein perfekter Mutt aussehen, top!!!

The m-16 needs the old style triangle front grip to make it look more authentic.
WOW, I turned plenty wrenches on these when I joined. As a 63W, you saw plenty of these.
Very Nice the real original Jeep .

@estradalex I love the way it looks, completely outfitted. But I too would rather have a raw uncut Ford. Nice car!
The flash light and m16 are authentic for the period.
que excelente carro tienes ahi!!! la reconstruccion esta practicamente perfecta, parece realmente salido de la fabrica. Te felicito, cuida ese mutt que no creo que haya muchos asi en esas condiciones. nuevamente felicidades por tu 4x4.
Awesome. Fully loaded.
It is like you went back in time to record this!
Very cool, I have the 1967 Ford model
I used to drive a 67 when I was a recruiter in the 70's. Got my ass reamed when I got it buried in mud along a creek bank. Had two hotties with me.
That's one hell of a clean mutt!
Beautiful example. Thanks for posting.
Wow perfect condition
@estradalex WOW, that´s amazing, i own an m151, but i dont have that, i dot really think i will get to need it jajaja, but it´s a very impresive item, cool mutt of your´s, congratulations.
A throwback from Vietnam
Very nicely done !!
Hope you've kept up with your frequency oil changes in that radio
@wilatemodel Yes they worked. Look at my other videos for another restoration that shows the working radios M151A2 HQ.
Perfect one!

They were built from 1959 to the late 70's.
Don’t try doing 60 in a turn, the independent suspension was prone to letting them roll over
You know well about M151-A2
awesome - I like the siren!
almost better than new!
thats one sweet jeep.
@fitter2112 Thanks for your comments. Maybe you can post video of your MV.
Great beast

WoW!! Hats off!!!
It looks factory fresh...incredible. Why does it sound like a diesel when it is idling?
i have 12 ford mutt A2 in restauration condition, uncut in my yard for selling, in Germany
What's that system under the passenger side dashboard? What ever it is, it started rattling about a month ago. Sounds like some sort of a fan grinding on the cylinder casing.
It's the heater. Check the fan motor and unplug it if not using it.
Very nice....i like it.....

That's perfect!
Are you using the car for anything or just polishing it?
Number one
Xe Jeep AR MY rat dep ...1 cam on Ban da dang
Our military could never drive around something that cost $5,000 today. If it doesn't cost $250,000 or more they just don't want it
