For all my appreciation of Man of Steel, this trailer and movie seem to have the one fundamental element of Superman that the previous movie was utterly lacking: hope and optimism. The phrase "You will believe a man can fly" has never felt more tangible. And it looks like Lois figures out Clark's identity in this movie, which is really nice. AND THE MUSIC!!!!
I feel like this is coming out at the absolute perfect time. When so many of us are at our most fearful because of those who have surrendered themselves to enable wanna-be fascists, here returns an old friend who has fought against fascism before. Reminding us what it means and feels like to hope. "You will give the people of Earth an ideal to strive towards. They will race behind you, they will stumble, they will fall. But in time, they will join you in the sun Kal. In time you will help them accomplish wonders."
This trailer perfectly encapsulates the feeling of hope that Superman is supposed to inspire. The dark opening shows that there is no light without the dark. The music from the old movies shining forth again, he gets to save people again like the girl from the debris. The boy holding the flag has all the hope we have held in our hearts all these years. Crying for a real Superman film to show us what he really is and what he stands for.

I absolutely cannot wait for this. The original Christopher Reeve Superman movie is one of my favorite films of all time. I can’t wait to see this in July (the month of my birthday no less!).
As a small child, I flew a small little Superman figure in my hand while I sang the movie theme song. Sometimes I would confuse it with the Star Wars theme song and it would infuriate me when I new I was humming the wrong song and had to get it right so I would him both of them and compare the two themes.
From my understanding, the main villain is going to be Ultraman, which is a version of Clark Kent from a parallel universe. I’ve seen a lot of people confused why there’s so many characters in this, hawkgirl, Mr. terrific, guy gardeners Green Lantern, but James stated we are being introduced to an already lived in universe, which I love.
Jimmy Olsen is in the foreground at the Daily Planet when Clark is leaning over the desk. You can see him reading a newspaper at 0:44 at the bottom right of the trailer.
Looks like fun, and I love pretty much all the Superman iterations out there ... but I will admit that while watching the trailer the following entered my mind: "what's Moss from the IT Crowd doing working at the Daily Planet? Oh wait, that's supposed to be Clark 😂"
I love that they immediately show him as vulnerable, in a state of weakness. With Snyder, he was portrayed as a god walking amongst mortals. This version is going to be much more relatable. It's a "What if God was one of us" type of situation. Both show the burden of responsibility but from two completely different angles.
So many people comment that "It's not dark!" yet the truth is that no one smiles through the entire thing. Lois smirks a tiny bit, but I feel that's more snark than joy. The only joy viewers get from this trailer is what they bring with them. Not the best first look ( to me ). But I do like the dog, even though Krypton has traditionally been more of a lab mix than this pup.
Like WOW! more than I expected and even shed a tear, Gunn captures the essence of Donner's film. Cannot wait to see this at either Mann's or the Egyptian, I am flying from the East Coast just to experience it at one or both of those iconic Golden Age Cinemas. It appears this Superman exists in a Earthverse where Superheroes already are established
I really like the idea of flipping it so he’s not the first superhero like he is in most continuities. Kinda reflects reality now with the whole era of super movies. Here’s an old fashioned Superman bringing old timey ways to a modern world full of super people (both in-universe and in theaters).
The way the DCU seems set up right now is that superheroes have been around for a while and the citizens of DC Earth are kind of over it. But then, the existing DC heroes before Superman are shadier militarized heroes like Peacemaker and the Creature Commandos and what looks to be a rather corporate team featuring Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, Metamorpho and Mr. Terrific. So, Superman bringing in old-fashioned independent superheroing might be the angle. And a good contrast to Marvel where SHIELD and the Avengers represent a sort of benevolent militarism.
I love the scene where Superman shows compassion for an android. It really show's his strongest attribute in inspiring good in others. The juxtaposition of that against current times where people can't have any empathy/compassion for an entire group of actual powerless people being downtrodden. His empathy extends beyond humans, beyond politics, etc... whereas humans limit theirs based off of bias, greed, and corruption.
"I love that it's light" Bingo.

As a small child, I flew a small little Superman figure in my hand while I sang the movie theme song. Sometimes I would confuse it with the Star Wars theme song and it would infuriate me when I new I was humming the wrong song and had to get it right so I would him both of them and compare the two themes.
For me, him protecting the little girl is the Superman I grew up with.
Nathan Fillion with the bowl cut. I can't even. lol
Made me cry so much❤😢❤so beautiful.
That initial guitar lick is so reminiscent of the opening to the Top Gun films.
You should react to Part 2 of Cobra Kai Season 6
Jimmy Olsen is in the foreground at the Daily Planet when Clark is leaning over the desk. You can see him reading a newspaper at 0:44 at the bottom right of the trailer.
Looks like fun, and I love pretty much all the Superman iterations out there ... but I will admit that while watching the trailer the following entered my mind: "what's Moss from the IT Crowd doing working at the Daily Planet? Oh wait, that's supposed to be Clark 😂"
My thought exactly
I love that you mentioned Tom Welling. He'll always be the best Clark Kent.
0:38. Something the Snydercult will never think
Nathan is playin a Green Lantern character...
Nathan fillion is playing Guy Gardner a green lantern, and that's how he has his hair in the comics.
I literally cried watching!!! I'm so excited!!!!
I love that they immediately show him as vulnerable, in a state of weakness. With Snyder, he was portrayed as a god walking amongst mortals. This version is going to be much more relatable. It's a "What if God was one of us" type of situation. Both show the burden of responsibility but from two completely different angles.
I get the appeal and I absolutely am glad you're getting something you're into.
I just noticed there is no Superman title lol
I've started CRYING...... there is HOPE!!!!!
8:36 Nathan Fillion is playing an older version of Guy Gardner’s green lantern idk why James Gun decided to go with an older Guy Gardner tho 🤔
Just discovered your channel and once I heard “Smallville was just so perfect” = Instant Subscribe !
Looks like they are really doing Justice League and not just Superman. So cool.
My local movie theater closed this summer, it is an hour and a half drive to the next closest. I might make the drive for this.
Like WOW! more than I expected and even shed a tear, Gunn captures the essence of Donner's film. Cannot wait to see this at either Mann's or the Egyptian, I am flying from the East Coast just to experience it at one or both of those iconic Golden Age Cinemas. It appears this Superman exists in a Earthverse where Superheroes already are established
The Snyderverse was fun but none the characters felt like themselves. Gunn's Superman is really giving me the ideal Superman
The orb outside the window almost looks like Tsphere energy and GL energy trying to contain something
Superman 79 was the first movie my Dad ever took me to. I am going to be a sloppy mess watching this movie.
Heh I had to watch this in private because I knew I'd tear up right aling with you!
In the previous teaser (teaser to teaser lol) we saw Jimmy, Cat Grant, Ron Troupe, and Steve Lombard
