After being here 27 years, Barrie is mainly houses and retail stores, with a handful of manufacturing jobs, if you want actual good work, be prepared to be stuck in traffic on the commute to Toronto because toronto is where all the jobs are
@CB-xc7du go train is great, but depending on where your job is located in toronto, might not be feasible because then you world need to take the subway/ bus/ taxi to get to your job
@@codercorey4844 go train only operates on weekend? How much is presto card? How much is bus other transportation fees. Going to relocate asap need F/T accomodation any help be appreciated
Thank you for sharing. I just got admission to one of the college in Barrie. Is it easier to get part time jobs in Barrie?? And is it also a good place for kids?? Because I am considering Barrie, Toronto or London.
Hey there, as far as I know there are lots of jobs available depending on what you want to do. And yes Barrie has a tonne of great family friendly areas. Feel free to reach out if you wanted to chat ryan@ryanmegson.com
if your talking about georgain college its a great school, a few of my friends went and my grandmother used to teach there, full time jobs are more plentiful in the south end over by mapleview, but you should be able to find a solid part time near the college i think they even have a program to work part time on campus
There are three shelters within 2km of each other. Barrie police are more likely to punch you in the face for jay walking than they are to investigate a BnE. Barrie has all the charm of the east end of queen without the money of the beaches to seperate the addicts from the waterfront. You don't see any children in the downtown past dusk, unless they're the ones trying to rob you. You really want to live in a place where the heroin - fentynal addiction is such a problem there are more needle boxes than garbage cans? Where you have to get buzzed into the washroom at chain restaurants because of the risk of you ODing on their toilet.
Grew up in Barrie, it is gentrified beyond bnelief. Was good to live in like the early 2000s now it's all angry Toronto people throwing trash, real estate slumlords kicking out the poor and disabled through Renovictions. Absolute cess pool, I don't even stop in at the gas station when driving through anymore. Ptugh 💦
I love living in Barrie with all the amenities including the zombie drug addicts that regularly congregate around bayview and downtown. It also has a lot of overpriced homes living amongst the drug addicts and homeless that you drive by each day on your way to work. I bought my house in Barrie 2 and a half years ago and I just love it here. Lots of progress.
I agree with you that Barrie has no community feel! I haved lived in Charlottetown PEI, Halifax Nova Scotia, Waterloo and Kitchener Ontario and Calgary and to me Barrie is the most isolating place I have lived. I feel like Barrie catars only to the stereotypical four person family lived in a singel detached suburban home with the neatly manicured lawn! As a single person here, it is so hard to connect and socialize with people. Barrie is so bland and OVERRATED in my opinion. I have a condo, but I would never buy a house for 7000000 or higher here. No thanks. All people seem to think about here is that they are homeowers with their detached home. People from here in Ontario state that they could not live in the Prairieis or the Maritimes where the weather is so bad...lol! The weather here stinks. Months and months are of greyness, sluch and snow everyday during the winter and then sauna-like summers. I don't get it and plan to sell and move in a few more years.
That’s a very fair analysis! We moved up to Orillia a few years ago and it’s such a huge difference in enjoyment of living. We still come to Barrie frequently for work, family and certain amenities but I have no desire to move back. You are right it is a city fit for a certain lifestyle, people who want to have ease of commuting and more “suburban” life without being in the big city. Thanks for your comment and when you’re ready to move please feel free to reach out 🙂
Hi bro, please can u answer my question. Next month i am coming to barrie for study purposes , so can i get part time job there easily or ot is hard to find one??? Are rooms easily accessible for rent or not?
I remember Barrie when it was 48,000 people before Toronto took over . Watching these TH-cam videos I am so glad I left in 1999. The fact that a house even cost 500,000 is ridiculous Barrie is a blue-collar city. With Toronto transplants. You wanna know the definition of culture I came back to visit Family a couple years ago. I went into a so-called Mexican restaurant. And served by non-Mexicans. Whenever my brain thinks it’s homesick I just go to TH-cam and watch people drive around Barrie and remember I’m not missing anything. You enjoy that city and I’ll enjoy my view of the Rocky Mountains.
Very interesting video... Me and me family are moving next July 2024, we arw from Chile, and i going to study at Georgian college, so i would like to be in contact with you soon, .aybe you can help us to find a house once we arrive ...thanks for you response... greetings from Chile

Love the insight you gave Ryan 😊
awesome Community in Barrie much much better than Oriillia
Orillia has better community and doesnt treat its citizens Like crap like Barrie council just use Barrie people like a cash cow.
Thanks Ryan

True, the College literally hates its people in Barrie now. They openly teach their students to be hostile to the "locals" as they call us.
Thanks for your good information. 👍
Interesting last point.
how about greatgulf terra barrie project, is it good place to book pre-cons?
