This is a very good recording. I can hear the layers of melodies so clearly. Also, Karl Richter was probably the only one who could make the accompanying organ so aggressive and convincing at the same time.

BAch was really in awe of the wonder of God's creation. I agree with an earlier contributor that it's one of Bach's best. Not sure of the timing of the writing of this one, but it's so amazingly beautiful, I wouldn't be surprised if it was not long after one of his 13 kids, who predeceased him, died. All the troubles in his life only served to deepen his faith & trust in God.
Praps counterintuitivity is the key to Bach's brilliance. All the miseries he experienced he just channeled into his creative spirit. So perhaps we could say this particular cantata really embodies his "Soli Deo Gloria" epithet. When I perform in a choir, I really hate the long & exaggerated applause, I feel so drained from the big sing, I just wanna get off the stage as quickly as I can & get out of the euphoric mode that singing put me in. Singing B minor Mass in Brisbane in 1981 with the blessed Bach Society of Queensland (amateur) gave me such a euphoria kick, that I had a terrible hypermanic breakdown the following Thursday...... So I think more soli Deo gloria & less applause is in the spirit of Bach......

"Hasse nur" is played to heavy on the bass. Should better be tied by two.

@@Asiek Ah I see it now, it is exactly the same - not too surprised when it comes to Bach, he recycled more than most, not that I mind much, it is all perfect music.

      You mean bwv 528?

The opening Sinfonia of the second parts of this Cantata used the same music of the opening movement of the Triosonata 4 BWV 528.
