I know now that Freddie went to the bottom of your heart , cleared out the junk that was in there (music wise) and know they are singing for you in there with you as audience - the sad you/ the lonely you/ the happy you/ the angry you/ the lost you. They all sit and listen to Queen.
So glad to see u admittedly emotional & appreciative of Queen & u remarked u liked Somebody To Love performance better than BoRhap, which Freddie once said also! In an interview he said tho he appreciated BoRhap's success, but to him, Somebody To Love was a better song from a songwriter's point of view,, so u are quite an educated critic, & Freddie would have loved yr comment. I suggest u watch only the live performances instead of the studio recorded versions to start with. Freddie "goes off" more fluidly as u see, & the rush of a live audience makes his performances more intense & free than the more refined, rigid recorded versions for the band to adhere to record for albums. I've loved Queen forever, so I love yr appreciation of their unique sound. Brian & Dad started making the Red Special guitar when he was a teen. They used old wood from a fireplaxe, a bike kickstand, his mother's knitting needle & scraps from odd places. It took 2 yrs to finish. He uses it still to this day for 99% of his song playing & uses a British sixpence serrated edge coin instead of a guitar pick! Next, please watch their live concert "Queen 1986 Wembly Stadium" ... it will blow yr mind. I've subscribed & await yr reaction as u watch each individual song performed. Every rock band performance that u watch from then on you will helplessly compare to that concert & Freddie Mercury. I can't wait to see yr face.

Also Save Me live at Montreal 1981, the way Brian and Freddie interchange on the piano is so smooth. Of course I can't leave out their legendary 20 minute set for the Live Aid charity concert in 1985.
No matter how amazing Freddies voice was it was always Queen that made the songs, thay all contributed to the feeling of what they made. This song found me at a particularly low and lonely point in my life, and it gave me hope and helped me to not feel as lonely. Shortly after (2 years) I found the love of my life :) we have been together for 19 years so far :)

The Black Queen ...One other pop, rock n' roll, country, rock a' billy, blues, gospel etc., etc ,...singer surpasses Mercury, and probably is the ONLY singer that surpasses him, Elvis Presley. And I am the biggest Mercury fan on this planet and sang Queen songs for years in two rock bands playing the club scene. But I have to admit, Elvis truly was the King as a singer, song stylist, voice, powerful voice, nuance, projection, tunesmith and charasmatic frontman/performer with his band. Even Freddie is not at the level of Elvis. And I actually listen to Queen 100 times more daily than I ever listen to Elvis, but I have to be objectively honest, Elvis was the greatest singer in pop, rock n' roll music, period. And it's silly really to rate singers in order and so on, but the plain truth is the plain truth.
Philosopher 007 Hard disagree on that but you are right to have that opinion. I'd argue that Freddie is higher for a multitude of reasons. Presley had a vocal range under 2 and 1/3 octave with a falsetto exception in Blue Moon, while Freddie had a 4 actave range and used it frequently and can have such grit and bass to it or still keep it relatively clean going about it. He was often able to reach such higher notes without going into head voice or falsetto which is quite impressive. Freddie's voice is also anatomically unique. It has been studied and found that his vocal technique used muscles in his throat that are uncommon in traditional singing, but common in Tibetan throat singing. That gave his voice that thick tenor-baritone sound and is almost impossible to replicate. Elvis' voice is catchy, smooth, and sweet to listen to and is very iconic, but the problem is that it's easy to replicate it. We know this because Vegas is full of people who have made a culture out of dressing up as Elvis and mimicking his shows and performances. There have been plenty of Elvis impersonators who have copied his voice, appearance, and performance so well that many rumours that he's still alive exist both because of them and vise versa. To top it off, Presley largely stayed with about three particular genres when singing; Rock N Roll, Pop, and Rockibilly. Mercury, on the other hand, has ventured into such a wide array of styles like Jazz, Hard Rock, Pop, Metal, Ragtime, Funk, Disco, Music Hall, Opera, and more. Queen were known for their diverse styles that reached such untouched places and often still sold well. Bohemian Rhapsody itself is a Progressive Rock combination of Balladry, Soft Rock, Opera, Heavy Metal, and Acapella, and somehow, a song like that has repeatedly hit number 1 in the span of 45 years. Presely's voice had a signature tone with his badboy attitude and southern-influenced accents and slurs. Mercury's voice had a google-plex of colour, grit, and vibrance that has remained unparalleled for generations.
The Black Queen Sorry, but you're simply incorrect, on many points. Elvis' range you mentioned was him in full voice which he preferred...as he did not like singing in falsetto due it sounding fake....which falsetto is, a fake high male singing voice. Mercury's range was exactly the same as Elvis in octave measurement ( although tenor more than baritone. ) Freddy was NOT a baritone, never...not at all. He was a tenor. Elvis was just a baritone but on the border of a very low tenor. Let's say, medium high baritone. Anyway, take away Freddie's falsetto stuff and he had a distance range measurement pretty much exactly as had Elvis. Of course Elvis' lows were lower and a few of Freddie's highs were higher. If Elvis had used his falsetto all the time and stretched it, it would likely have given him the 4 octave range you labeled Freddie with. Of course his high end falsetto would be just slightly less than Freddie's, yet his low end FULL voice would have been lower than Freddie's, but proportionately, they were the same overall. And though Freddie used falsetto, it sounded....fake...which it is and Elvis just disliked really using the faux voice sound of falsetto singing....though he could do it very well. But I must agree, it sounds fake. Just listen to 'Cool Cat' by Queen where Freddie sings the whole thing in falsetto. It just sounds forced ( which it is ) and silly...fake...piercing with no mobility once he is in it. That's the general nature of falsetto. Full voice ALWAYS sounds MUCH better. Freddie did not have the natural high tenor full voice range/ability to have been able to sing something like, ' Cool Cat ' in a true full voice and hit those notes. He had to use falsetto to reach them and fake that high sound. Only singers with a naturally high tenor register would be able to do so, such as Jon Anderson, Steve Perry, Trevor Horn, Brad Delp, etc. Anyhow, moving along, Elvis sang many genres and you also forgot gospel singing. He has albums and albums of gospel music. Further, Elvis was far more prolific in his recording amount than Mercury and died 3 years younger than Freddie. Elvis recorded 5 times the amount of songs than did Mercury. An amazing feat. Elvis recorded at least 710 songs. Mercury, including solo albums and the odd recording with other singers, about 148. A huge difference. Those amounts increase experience in singing and Elvis had much more experience. Much much more. Not to mention the amount of stage experience. Elvis' Vegas shows alone were close to or more than all the shows Mercury ever had. Again, that causes greater skill due to more experience singing...as well as performing. Mercury's voice being analayzed means not much because that in no way means he was a better SINGER nor that he had a nicer sounding voice. And if Elvis' voice was analyzed, perhaps he had a unique something or other to the way his vocal folds moved or worked.. who knows, and really, who cares? It's about how a singer themself uses their voice and emotes and sculpts lyrics with nuance and crafting. Elvis did that better than anyone. And just as Elvis might not have been able to hit the highest highs of Freddie, well Freddie in NO WAY could reach the lows that Elvis did. And Freddie never once did. So that evens out the range issue. Freddie had a strong voice at his best...even very strong, however Elvis had a stronger, more booming, powerful, huge voice when he belted. Professional opera singers have noted that power and beauty in his strong voice and said that Elvis absolutely could have been an opera singer had he chose to be. Hearing Freddie next to Caballe, who was already an older woman singer at that time, and you can hear that Freddie yelled his notes but still had not the power and full richness of an opera singer. Elvis actually did have that. Even weeks before his death, in horrific condition, organs failing, heart turning to mush from decades of prescription drug abuse, grossly overweight and out of shape...at literally the end of his life, Elvis belted out notes with so much power....it is hard to believe. Really unbelievable considering how wrecked and close to death he was. And Elvis' voice tone was like BUTTER. The tone was just perfect...the timbre, the smoothness, the ring. Amazing. And yes, Mercury could sing gritty at times...but hell, so did Elvis! Are you kidding? He sang with TONS of grit and grind....and he wasn't even singing hard rock or metal....yet he belted out gritty lines all over the place. Even since the beginning he did that....Jailhouse Rocks opening line " You ain't nothing but a hound dog!...." And that was way back in the 1950's...and just the beginning of his gritty singing. And Elvis just had SO MUCH ability and skill in singing lyrics to get emotion in the lyrics and such an ability to turn a phrase a certain way and such swagger to a lot of his singing....not to mention heartwrenching emotive gospel music he loved so much. Anyhow, I can go on and on but I think I proved my point enough. And as I said, I LOOOOOOOOOVE Freddie Mercury, I am a singer all my life and am middle-aged and did it professionally. Queen is my favorite rock band, even over Zeppelin which says a lot. I know every Queen song... have sung 90% of them, have met Brian May and his daughter, own a Guild Brian May guitar for now 26 years...play guitar since 12, piano since age 5...am a drummer since age 10, did it professionally...singing Queen and many others songs etc. I've seen Queen live and have the albums, cassettes, cd's, compilation albums and have seen EVERY live Queen and Freddie concert and performance available on video 100 times. I watched Live Aid...LIVE in summer 1985 when I was 20 years old. Got that? I know NO Queen fan bigger, more devoted, than me. Never met one like me. So I do know QUEEN/FREDDIE..EXTREMELY WELL...and I do know music, K? And again, Elvis is about the ONLY singer that overall tops Freddie. No one else really does. Take care.

Half way through, I noticed how much was left and just began skimming over it. But I do want to address some of your points. This will probably be as long as yours but I'll try and make it easier on the eyes. First, I don't know what source you're referring to, but Elvis had a range of 2 1/3 octaves with an outlying falsetto range moving up to three octaves according to elvis.com, which I will have linked below. And while Elvis may not have enjoyed doing falsetto, he has sang falsetto many times, often for 'woo's and 'ooh's, with his highest being a Rock scream in Little Less Conversation reaching a Bflat 5. A full chest voice reaching D5 on The Show Must Go On, an Eflat 5 on The Hitman and Innuendo, and quite possibly his most impressive, an F5 on All God's People. This was during the months before Freddie's death when he was suffering a respiratory infection of all things, and yet he was still able to hit these notes with such colour, vibrance and force to sound 100% natural. Elvis never had to deal with the conditions Freddie did and still manage to hit the notes Freddie did. It takes more effort to hit high notes than to hit low notes because the former can cause strain if done improperly, while the latter can be achieved when the voice is most relaxed. This is general fact of the matter. Elvis had a much lower domain and rarely hit higher notes unless he screamed. Elvis's lowest note is higher than Freddie's lowest note, and his highest note is still lower than Freddie's highest note. On the subject of range, Freddie Mercury surpasses Elvis on both ends. On your point of Falsetto being weaker, that is generally true, but the best falsetto singers are the ones that can make the sound flow with an even vibrance. It could be too airy or it could be too hollow. I'd say both Elvis and Freddie did it well in terms of tone, but Freddie still hit higher notes with his. Next, your point of Freddie not being a baritone, that isn't necessarily true. Freddie primarily sang in the Tenor range, but his natural voice was a baritone and often transitioned between the two when singing softer mid-low notes. And as I've stated before, Freddie's ability to sing with a full texture and thickness to his voice due to the use of different vocal organs in his throat is unique to his voice, and I'd argue it does resemble a greater quality because it's a more rich tone with full use of his throat. Music is subjective and what we deem as better, worse, stronger, and weaker is largely based on opinions. There are factual roots, but when we apply an argument to claim that it makes it better or worse, it becomes an opinion. With that being said, how we elaborate on why we think one is better than the other comes down to the evidence brought to the table and how we connect it to our claim. This doesn't prove us right, but it allows us to justify our stance.
The Black Queen. I disagree with SO much of what you said, however I will say two things. Freddie did not have " organs " in his throat, let alone any " extra " organs. I'm a singer, as I told you, for now over 45 years. The throat has FOLDS not chords and not organs. Secondly, there is no way in hell that Freddie was a baritone at all....his natural voice was low to mid tenor range. Freddie could NOT sing with any dynamic, agility and freedom in the low range that Elvis could. No way. He MIGHT have been able to hit a note or two toward Elvis' low range, but had no room to move around vocally in that range. He simply did not have a low enough voice to do so. Never did. You said Freddie's lowest lows were lower than Elvis' lowest lows??? Not a chance. Please provide a link with Freddie doing so. And please do not dare to say Freddie was in worse condition etc. when singing....Elvis belted out monster high bellowing operatic thundering notes....and held them with power....WEEKS before his death. K? His insides were falling apart, literally. The doctor that did his autopsy said he has no idea how the man could even stand or have been alive, with organs so destroyed. He said Elvis' heart fell apart in his hands like PATE'. So it was like mush. And yet, he did what he did. Amazing. And yeah, I meant "Hound Dog" although he was a little gritty in "Jailhouse" come to think of it. And you totally skipped the issue of power which Elvis was far ahead of Mercury no matter what. Elvis also had such finesse with his singing skills that even Mercury, takes second place to that skill and style and vocal colorings that Elvis had. Elvis was just, absolutely a phenom, an anomaly.
Great reaction, yes the whole band was meticulous.Queen's music tends to be very melodic. All of the band members played to the music, no one ever added to much or too little. You need to check out Queen at Live Aid, I sm sure you would enjoy it.
I had the honor of being in the audience at this concert in Montreal. He was the master of crowd control, you should watch their live performance at live aid. I am so happy to have experienced this group live one time. I would give almost anything to have been in that crowd at live aid. Phenomenal!
Brilliant ...four of them..and what a sound. No autotune etc has others have pointed out. Just raw talent and superb musicianship. Having to play by ear, listening to the beat and temp rather than having technical aids to help them.

Yes...Rock. welll ROCKS!!!!! Rock and metal has some of the BEST singers out there....mainly because they actually have to be able to actually sing and actually play their instruments....no autotune...that is frowned on....most practice and work their asses off to make their music...that's why you see bands that have been around 10.20.30.40.50. etc..years and people still go crazy for the music...cause a lot of them LOVE what they do and take pride in doing it...no matter the physical costs....being black and into rock and metal people would look at me like I was crazy...mostly black people...but I happen to like great singers...great lyrics...originality...great instruments..played by great artists...songs and lyrics that actually have meaning...now there are some rap..hip hop and even pop singers that are good...but my favorite genre is rock and metal...because of all the greatness and all the different types that are out there....especially some of the older stuff...

Yes - Freddie did say that this song was his "favorite" - and the studio version, as good as was - well, you just saw it live - so, all credit to the band, as well, many reactors seems to focus on Freddie - but he could not do this kind of performance without Brian guitar & vocals, Roger on drums & vocals (amazing!) - and John Deacon on bass - they were a true "group" - thanks for your reaction!
Glorious! Alongside beer and water, Freddie mostly had hot lemon/honey drinks to soothe his vocal cords because though they made it look like a walk in the park, Queen's music is not easy to sing!

I would ask though, if you could lower the volume of your backing music in future videos as I literally could not hear your voice my friend. As a 45 year old, 35 year Queen Fan from little Britain it warms my heart no end seeing new generations 'getting' Queen and coming to realise their unique place in the world and our lives. Now, with TH-cam I get to see people who, in Queen's own time, would not have been your typical Queen Fan (hip hop, dance, rap fans, elderly Indian couples, metal heads, and on and on) go on that magical and life changing journey through the catalogue of dreams. So glad to see u admittedly emotional & appreciative of Queen & u remarked u liked Somebody To Love performance better than BoRhap, which Freddie once said also! In an interview he said tho he appreciated BoRhap's success, but to him, Somebody To Love was a better song from a songwriter's point of view,, so u are quite an educated critic, & Freddie would have loved yr comment. I suggest u watch only the live performances instead of the studio recorded versions to start with. Freddie "goes off" more fluidly as u see, & the rush of a live audience makes his performances more intense & free than the more refined, rigid recorded versions for the band to adhere to record for albums. I've loved Queen forever, so I love yr appreciation of their unique sound. Brian & Dad started making the Red Special guitar when he was a teen. They used old wood from a fireplaxe, a bike kickstand, his mother's knitting needle & scraps from odd places. It took 2 yrs to finish. He uses it still to this day for 99% of his song playing & uses a British sixpence serrated edge coin instead of a guitar pick!
Next, please watch their live concert "Queen 1986 Wembly Stadium" ... it will blow yr mind. I've subscribed & await yr reaction as u watch each individual song performed. This song found me at a particularly low and lonely point in my life, and it gave me hope and helped me to not feel as lonely. Shortly after (2 years) I found the love of my life :) we have been together for 19 years so far :)

And now you've witnessed the greatest vocalist of the past 100 years at his prime! Freddie Mercury is a cultural icon with an iconic stage presence and vocal performance, and this performance really captures that.
The Black Queen ...One other pop, rock n' roll, country, rock a' billy, blues, gospel etc., etc ,...singer surpasses Mercury, and probably is the ONLY singer that surpasses him, Elvis Presley. And I am the biggest Mercury fan on this planet and sang Queen songs for years in two rock bands playing the club scene. But I have to admit, Elvis truly was the King as a singer, song stylist, voice, powerful voice, nuance, projection, tunesmith and charasmatic frontman/performer with his band. Even Freddie is not at the level of Elvis. And I actually listen to Queen 100 times more daily than I ever listen to Elvis, but I have to be objectively honest, Elvis was the greatest singer in pop, rock n' roll music, period. And it's silly really to rate singers in order and so on, but the plain truth is the plain truth.
Philosopher 007 Hard disagree on that but you are right to have that opinion. I'd argue that Freddie is higher for a multitude of reasons.
Presley had a vocal range under 2 and 1/3 octave with a falsetto exception in Blue Moon, while Freddie had a 4 actave range and used it frequently and can have such grit and bass to it or still keep it relatively clean going about it. He was often able to reach such higher notes without going into head voice or falsetto which is quite impressive.
Freddie's voice is also anatomically unique. It has been studied and found that his vocal technique used muscles in his throat that are uncommon in traditional singing, but common in Tibetan throat singing. That gave his voice that thick tenor-baritone sound and is almost impossible to replicate. Elvis' voice is catchy, smooth, and sweet to listen to and is very iconic, but the problem is that it's easy to replicate it. We know this because Vegas is full of people who have made a culture out of dressing up as Elvis and mimicking his shows and performances. There have been plenty of Elvis impersonators who have copied his voice, appearance, and performance so well that many rumours that he's still alive exist both because of them and vise versa.
To top it off, Presley largely stayed with about three particular genres when singing; Rock N Roll, Pop, and Rockibilly. Mercury, on the other hand, has ventured into such a wide array of styles like Jazz, Hard Rock, Pop, Metal, Ragtime, Funk, Disco, Music Hall, Opera, and more. Queen were known for their diverse styles that reached such untouched places and often still sold well. Bohemian Rhapsody itself is a Progressive Rock combination of Balladry, Soft Rock, Opera, Heavy Metal, and Acapella, and somehow, a song like that has repeatedly hit number 1 in the span of 45 years.
Presely's voice had a signature tone with his badboy attitude and southern-influenced accents and slurs. Mercury's voice had a google-plex of colour, grit, and vibrance that has remained unparalleled for generations.
The Black Queen Sorry, but you're simply incorrect, on many points. Elvis' range you mentioned was him in full voice which he preferred...as he did not like singing in falsetto due it sounding fake....which falsetto is, a fake high male singing voice. Mercury's range was exactly the same as Elvis in octave measurement ( although tenor more than baritone. ) Freddy was NOT a baritone, never...not at all. He was a tenor. Elvis was just a baritone but on the border of a very low tenor. Let's say, medium high baritone. Anyway, take away Freddie's falsetto stuff and he had a distance range measurement pretty much exactly as had Elvis. Of course Elvis' lows were lower and a few of Freddie's highs were higher. If Elvis had used his falsetto all the time and stretched it, it would likely have given him the 4 octave range you labeled Freddie with. Of course his high end falsetto would be just slightly less than Freddie's, yet his low end FULL voice would have been lower than Freddie's, but proportionately, they were the same overall. And though Freddie used falsetto, it sounded....fake...which it is and Elvis just disliked really using the faux voice sound of falsetto singing....though he could do it very well. But I must agree, it sounds fake. Just listen to 'Cool Cat' by Queen where Freddie sings the whole thing in falsetto. It just sounds forced ( which it is ) and silly...fake...piercing with no mobility once he is in it. That's the general nature of falsetto. Full voice ALWAYS sounds MUCH better. Freddie did not have the natural high tenor full voice range/ability to have been able to sing something like, ' Cool Cat ' in a true full voice and hit those notes. He had to use falsetto to reach them and fake that high sound. Only singers with a naturally high tenor register would be able to do so, such as Jon Anderson, Steve Perry, Trevor Horn, Brad Delp, etc. Anyhow, moving along, Elvis sang many genres and you also forgot gospel singing. He has albums and albums of gospel music. Further, Elvis was far more prolific in his recording amount than Mercury and died 3 years younger than Freddie. Elvis recorded 5 times the amount of songs than did Mercury. An amazing feat. Elvis recorded at least 710 songs. Mercury, including solo albums and the odd recording with other singers, about 148. A huge difference. Those amounts increase experience in singing and Elvis had much more experience. Much much more. Not to mention the amount of stage experience. Elvis' Vegas shows alone were close to or more than all the shows Mercury ever had. Again, that causes greater skill due to more experience singing...as well as performing. Mercury's voice being analayzed means not much because that in no way means he was a better SINGER nor that he had a nicer sounding voice. And if Elvis' voice was analyzed, perhaps he had a unique something or other to the way his vocal folds moved or worked.. who knows, and really, who cares? It's about how a singer themself uses their voice and emotes and sculpts lyrics with nuance and crafting. Elvis did that better than anyone. And just as Elvis might not have been able to hit the highest highs of Freddie, well Freddie in NO WAY could reach the lows that Elvis did. And Freddie never once did. So that evens out the range issue. Freddie had a strong voice at his best...even very strong, however Elvis had a stronger, more booming, powerful, huge voice when he belted. Professional opera singers have noted that power and beauty in his strong voice and said that Elvis absolutely could have been an opera singer had he chose to be. Hearing Freddie next to Caballe, who was already an older woman singer at that time, and you can hear that Freddie yelled his notes but still had not the power and full richness of an opera singer. Elvis actually did have that. Even weeks before his death, in horrific condition, organs failing, heart turning to mush from decades of prescription drug abuse, grossly overweight and out of shape...at literally the end of his life, Elvis belted out notes with so much power....it is hard to believe. Really unbelievable considering how wrecked and close to death he was. And Elvis' voice tone was like BUTTER. The tone was just perfect...the timbre, the smoothness, the ring. Amazing. And yes, Mercury could sing gritty at times...but hell, so did Elvis! Are you kidding? He sang with TONS of grit and grind....and he wasn't even singing hard rock or metal....yet he belted out gritty lines all over the place. Even since the beginning he did that....Jailhouse Rocks opening line " You ain't nothing but a hound dog!...." And that was way back in the 1950's...and just the beginning of his gritty singing. And Elvis just had SO MUCH ability and skill in singing lyrics to get emotion in the lyrics and such an ability to turn a phrase a certain way and such swagger to a lot of his singing....not to mention heartwrenching emotive gospel music he loved so much. Anyhow, I can go on and on but I think I proved my point enough. And as I said, I LOOOOOOOOOVE Freddie Mercury, I am a singer all my life and am middle-aged and did it professionally. Queen is my favorite rock band, even over Zeppelin which says a lot. I know every Queen song... have sung 90% of them, have met Brian May and his daughter, own a Guild Brian May guitar for now 26 years...play guitar since 12, piano since age 5...am a drummer since age 10, did it professionally...singing Queen and many others songs etc. I've seen Queen live and have the albums, cassettes, cd's, compilation albums and have seen EVERY live Queen and Freddie concert and performance available on video 100 times. I watched Live Aid...LIVE in summer 1985 when I was 20 years old. Got that? I know NO Queen fan bigger, more devoted, than me. Never met one like me. So I do know QUEEN/FREDDIE..EXTREMELY WELL...and I do know music, K? And again, Elvis is about the ONLY singer that overall tops Freddie. No one else really does. Take care.

Half way through, I noticed how much was left and just began skimming over it. But I do want to address some of your points. This will probably be as long as yours but I'll try and make it easier on the eyes.
First, I don't know what source you're referring to, but Elvis had a range of 2 1/3 octaves with an outlying falsetto range moving up to three octaves according to elvis.com, which I will have linked below. And while Elvis may not have enjoyed doing falsetto, he has sang falsetto many times, often for 'woo's and 'ooh's, with his highest being a Rock scream in Little Less Conversation reaching a Bflat 5. His lowest is said to reach a Baritone Low G (G2), though the lowest I could find recorded was a Bflat 2 on a live performance of In The Ghetto.

Freddie's vocal range reached as low as an F2, found as backing vocals on both All Dead All Dead and Somebody To Love. His highest falsetto and scream vocals reach to F6, during a live avant-garde vocal performance of Get Down Make Love, but his full sustained voice could reach to G5 in One Vision, and he had plenty of instances of notes in between C5 and G5 during the 1986-1991 period when he had AIDS. That is something that really needs to be taken into consideration. A full chest voice reaching D5 on The Show Must Go On, an Eflat 5 on The Hitman and Innuendo, and quite possibly his most impressive, an F5 on All God's People. This was during the months before Freddie's death when he was suffering a respiratory infection of all things, and yet he was still able to hit these notes with such colour, vibrance and force to sound 100% natural. Elvis never had to deal with the conditions Freddie did and still manage to hit the notes Freddie did. It takes more effort to hit high notes than to hit low notes because the former can cause strain if done improperly, while the latter can be achieved when the voice is most relaxed. This is general fact of the matter. Elvis had a much lower domain and rarely hit higher notes unless he screamed. Elvis's lowest note is higher than Freddie's lowest note, and his highest note is still lower than Freddie's highest note. On the subject of range, Freddie Mercury surpasses Elvis on both ends.
On your point of Falsetto being weaker, that is generally true, but the best falsetto singers are the ones that can make the sound flow with an even vibrance. It could be too airy or it could be too hollow. I'd say both Elvis and Freddie did it well in terms of tone, but Freddie still hit higher notes with his.
Next, your point of Freddie not being a baritone, that isn't necessarily true. Freddie primarily sang in the Tenor range, but his natural voice was a baritone and often transitioned between the two when singing softer mid-low notes. And as I've stated before, Freddie's ability to sing with a full texture and thickness to his voice due to the use of different vocal organs in his throat is unique to his voice, and I'd argue it does resemble a greater quality because it's a more rich tone with full use of his throat. And if professionals analyse his voice and find that his technique is extraordinary and strong, then I'm willing to take their word because they have the credentials.

A lot of what you're basing these claims on seems to come from your own opinion by saying "Elvis did this MUCH better", "Elvis had more grit and grind", et cetera. You aren't really giving evidence for your claims. You're just saying them which doesn't really convince me. And yeah, I see you're a big Queen fan. So am I. I've studied the lives off all four members and the history of the band, going in depth to even the little things. While I'm younger than you, I don't think that invalidates my perspective on Queen and Freddie Mercury any less than yours.
To end this off, I would like to say that range, texture, stage presence, popularity, and everything else both of us have tried to measure in support of our arguments do not definitively prove one side correct or not. Music is subjective and what we deem as better, worse, stronger, and weaker is largely based on opinions. There are factual roots, but when we apply an argument to claim that it makes it better or worse, it becomes an opinion. With that being said, how we elaborate on why we think one is better than the other comes down to the evidence brought to the table and how we connect it to our claim. This doesn't prove us right, but it allows us to justify our stance.
The Black Queen. I disagree with SO much of what you said, however I will say two things. Freddie did not have " organs " in his throat, let alone any " extra " organs. I'm a singer, as I told you, for now over 45 years. The throat has FOLDS not chords and not organs. Secondly, there is no way in hell that Freddie was a baritone at all....his natural voice was low to mid tenor range. Freddie could NOT sing with any dynamic, agility and freedom in the low range that Elvis could. No way. He MIGHT have been able to hit a note or two toward Elvis' low range, but had no room to move around vocally in that range. He simply did not have a low enough voice to do so. Never did. You said Freddie's lowest lows were lower than Elvis' lowest lows??? Not a chance. Please provide a link with Freddie doing so. And please do not dare to say Freddie was in worse condition etc. when singing....Elvis belted out monster high bellowing operatic thundering notes....and held them with power....WEEKS before his death. K? His insides were falling apart, literally. The doctor that did his autopsy said he has no idea how the man could even stand or have been alive, with organs so destroyed. He said Elvis' heart fell apart in his hands like PATE'. So it was like mush. And yet, he did what he did. Amazing. And yeah, I meant "Hound Dog" although he was a little gritty in "Jailhouse" come to think of it. And you totally skipped the issue of power which Elvis was far ahead of Mercury no matter what. Elvis also had such finesse with his singing skills that even Mercury, takes second place to that skill and style and vocal colorings that Elvis had. Elvis was just, absolutely a phenom, an anomaly.

Yes...Rock. welll ROCKS!!!!! Rock and metal has some of the BEST singers out there....mainly because they actually have to be able to actually sing and actually play their instruments....no autotune...that is frowned on....most practice and work their asses off to make their music...that's why you see bands that have been around 10.20.30.40.50. etc..years and people still go crazy for the music...cause a lot of them LOVE what they do and take pride in doing it...no matter the physical costs....being black and into rock and metal people would look at me like I was crazy...mostly black people...but I happen to like great singers...great lyrics...originality...great instruments..played by great artists...songs and lyrics that actually have meaning...now there are some rap..hip hop and even pop singers that are good...but my favorite genre is rock and metal...because of all the greatness and all the different types that are out there....especially some of the older stuff...

Really appreciate that reaction, felt real and like the way you started off by talking about the band as a whole and their ability. That last min where they are just riffing is pure music gold. Love to see you react to ‘don’t stop me now’ and ‘another one bites the dust’ music videos and if you want another performance then do ‘save me’ from the same 1981 Montreal concert as the one you just reacted to. Everyone will say do ‘live aid 1984’ and they’d be right to.
Yes - Freddie did say that this song was his "favorite" - and the studio version, as good as was - well, you just saw it live - so, all credit to the band, as well, many reactors seems to focus on Freddie - but he could not do this kind of performance without Brian guitar & vocals, Roger on drums & vocals (amazing!) - and John Deacon on bass - they were a true "group" - thanks for your reaction!
This was Freddies tribute to Aretha Franklin. He loved her. He is iconic. Listen to more 70s live Queen. Your mind will be blown.
Glorious! Alongside beer and water, Freddie mostly had hot lemon/honey drinks to soothe his vocal cords because though they made it look like a walk in the park, Queen's music is not easy to sing!

As a 45 year old, 35 year Queen Fan from little Britain it warms my heart no end seeing new generations 'getting' Queen and coming to realise their unique place in the world and our lives.
Now, with TH-cam I get to see people who, in Queen's own time, would not have been your typical Queen Fan (hip hop, dance, rap fans, elderly Indian couples, metal heads, and on and on) go on that magical and life changing journey through the catalogue of dreams.
I know that feeling and I relive a significant part of it through people just like you!
